In 1945, Jim Toomer bought a parcel of land in Berlin, N.J. at the corner of Cushman and Cedar Avenues for $ 100.
By 1948, with the help of his brothers, a nephew, and brothers-in-law, he built Tippin Inn.
Tippin Inn was one stop on the «Chitlin Circuit.»
At its prime in the 1960’s, Tippin Inn headliners included such early acts as B.B. King, Big Mabelle, Steppin Fetchit, Slappy White, Fats Domino, Ike and Tina Turner and so many others.
Patti LaBelle even mentioned Tippin Inn in her book biography as one of the venues that she played.
While in the Philadelphia area, many of the stars of the Georgie Woods Show, including The Valentines, El Dorados and screamin’ Jay Hawkins also performed at the Tippin Inn.
James Miller, CEO of JEM Productions opened Tippin In II in continuance of our father, brother, grandfather, etc. Legacy.
