History

Established in 2012.

Executive Chef Julio Avila worked in corporate catering services for many years at 4 Diamond Resorts & restaurants and hotels.

After years of dedicated service, he decided to establish his own catering company with which to provide his unique talent for excellent, responsive customer service and delectable food to the Greater Houston Area.

From casual and laid back events, to black-​tie formal affairs, Chef Julio and his dedicated staff are committed to the highest level of service with gourmet quality food for weddings, corporate events, office luncheons, dinners, fundraising galas and more.

Great skill and art and an extreme commitment to quality ingredients and processes are required to provide freshly prepared better-​than-​restaurant-​quality food for any catered event. That is just what we do best with Chef Julio and his staff’s experience and talent.

Chef Julio Avila

From the time he was a small child, Chef Julio’s interest for art has been a central part of his life. At the same time, it was always love of taste, color and texture, flavor, smell and beauty, nature and science that has driven his passion for food.

After embarking on a bachelor’s degree in painting, he decided to explore a different branch of art and the one he truly fell in love with: the Culinary Arts.

Chef Julio graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. in 1997 and since then has worked at four and five star resorts and hotels in the United States and in the Caribbean.

From starting as a line cook to becoming an acclaimed Executive Chef, his experience of 15 years culminated in the creation of The Hometown Chef Catering Co. in 2012.

The Hometown Chef Catering Co. is his heart-​felt creation where he lives Art, Flavor and Service.
