Established in 1988.

In business in San Luis Obispo for over 20 years, the founders Dennis and Deborah Swanson both are art school graduates and lived and worked in LA before starting Studio 101 West in San Luis Obispo. Since 1988 they have provided fresh and exciting Photography and Graphic design for clients near and far.

We had professional photos done for our business in Studio 101 West’s studio. Dennis was very talented at making us look our best! In fact, I use his photos as my profile photos! Dennis was very courteous and helpful at giving direction as to how to pose for the camera. He has also helped many of our customers with their wedding and family photo shoots, and I always hear good things from them about his work!

Dennis did such a great job taking my photo with my dog that I just had to upload it to his Unilocal account. He was able to get her to stand still and look at the camera just long enough (she’s a lab, so do the math on how hard that was) to get a great shot.

I’m a real estate professional and it’s tough to get a picture that really looks like you. I called Studio 1010 West Photography. He was able to schedule my picture the next day. He listened to what I was saying and was patient. He took pictures that didn’t look ‘plastic’, changed backgrounds for me, and made a fantastic effort to take a picture that looked like I actually am. I highly recommend this studio. First class. Friendly, professional, reasonable and great quality photos!

I am extremely pleased with the quality of photographs and services provided by Studio 101 West for my wedding. Both Dennis and Debra handled our questions with much friendliness and helped with planning details that I had not considered.
On the day of the wedding, Dennis made sure to capture all the special moments. He was extremely warm with all of our guests, along with my husband and me. Dennis and his wife, Debra take amazing photographs and were able to bring our wedding to life. Dennis was readily available via e-​mail and phone and is easy and fun to work with. He was very flexible with our schedule as far as meeting for our engagement photo shoot as well as on the day of our wedding.
He is prompt in getting the photos up for viewing and even did a special little slideshow to music of the main event photos.
The team worked well with our other vendors (photographers, DJ, coordinators, etc.). I would highly recommend Studio101West photography for any event in which you are wanting quality photos, great service, and a quick turn around time.

All I can say about Dennis is — WOW! I am so impressed with the amazing beach photo shoot and family pictures. After photographing our son for his senior picture in 2010 I knew — it had to be Dennis. He has been able to capture our family better than I could have imagined. Our oldest son just doesn’t smile in pictures but he trusts Dennis, and Dennis can bring out his true self. This photo shoot was very important to me. Our oldest has moved to college. Our oldest dog is elderly. I can’t thank Dennis enough. Our youngest son is very close to making Eagle. We will see Dennis very soon for his Eagle Scout portrait. He has my business. Loyally.
