Our restaurant specializes in Greek-Cypriot cuisine. We are mostly known for our authentic Meze-meals: The «Cyprus meze» contains an assortment of 8 cold and 8 hot appetizers for $ 21.95 per person, the «Fish meze» contains 7 cold and 7 hot appetizers for $ 24.95 per person, and the «Vegetarian Meze» also contains 7 cold and 7 hot appetizers for $ 20.95 per person. The Meze meals are a perfect way to enjoy a large variety of different appetizers!
Our diverse menu also contains fresh daily specials, individual appetizers, and different lamb, chicken, and fish platters. Full menu is available at www.zenontaverna.com.
We cater parties to the tri-state area and also have a banquet room on site. Menus are available on our website.
History
Established in 1988.
After hearing about the immense opportunities that awaited in America, Stelios decided to leave his home in Cyprus, and come to NY to build a successful future for his new family (in 1984). As he quickly learned, the move to America was not an easy one, and he maintained 3 jobs to pay the bills.
In 1988, one of Stelios’ employers offered to sell «Zenon Taverna» to him; he knew that this restaurant did not have a stable clientele, and was on the verge of closing. Although many people thought that it would be impossible to make this restaurant succeed, Stelios showed them that by using authentic Cypriot ingredients with high quality meat and produce, it was possible!
Twenty seven years later, Stelios is still managing Zenon Taverna, but with the added help of his three daughters (Constantina, Elena, and Angela) and wife Dora.

Meet the Business Owner
Stelios P.
Business Owner
Stelios and Dora: moved here from Cyprus in 1984 and 1985, respectively. Both graduated from the Hotel and Catering Institute of Cyprus. Stelios graduated as a top chef from his class and has shared his culinary expertise with Dora, who cooks the morning specials and serves during lunch.
Constantina: Born and raised in Astoria, New York. Obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Stony Brook University and law degree from St. John’s University School of Law. Constantina is employed as a Trusts and Estates/Elder Law attorney but helps the family on weekends.
Elena: Born and raised in Astoria, New York. Obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Fordham University and her Master’s Degree in Political Science from Brooklyn College. Elena is employed at Zenon on a full-time basis.
Angela: Born and raised in Astoria, New York. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Queens College and her Master’s Degree in Speech Therapy from Long Island University. She helps the family every weekend.
