Upon entry we were greeted and offered to sit anywhere(the place was empty on a Saturday night). We sat down for about 10 minutes and was not approached by a waiter but what seemed to be a manager type guy. He was nice and suggested a burger, so I went for it and he made it seem like he was going to create an amazing dish! Sadly, it was not as good as I had hoped. The burger tasted like a frozen patty… not fresh at all, super soggy and smothered in onions to the point where the burger fell apart. The fries were fresh but nothing crazy. The beer was the best part of the dinner. Sorry but I won’t be going back to this place. They lack waiters and customer service and good food. Sorry for being harsh but it’s the truth.

Have been going to Romano’s ever since I was a little girl in the 70s/80s… Just went yesterday with my three boys and my brother(my boys are the reason I am writing this review… they said«it deserves 6 stars on Unilocal»). Yes the place is much bigger, offers outside seating, friendly environment, but what hasn’t changed… The Food… Solid Place! after all these years. Food comes to the table hot! delicious! … it’s sooo much food(my chicken doner was so delicious I just kept eating it and eating it… wish there was less to eat for my waist line). All in all… If you want a great souvlaki or gyro meal this is a «go to» restaurant. Just keeps getting better with time

Great corner location with outside seating. The food is fresh, the plates are full and you will be too. Been here several times and it’s always been great. Needed some quick good food to go so ordered a pair of the souvlaki on a stick. He got them fresh from the marinade and grilled them perfectly. When i got my order there were 3 and he said they looked a lil small so he included the third gratis. Bonus! They make some of the best Tzatziki sauce. It was great with the grilled pita bread. They are friendly and its a fun place for groups or watching the world go by on B’way in Astoria.

My roommate and I like to come here for the Chicken Souvlaki platter with lemon roasted potatoes. The Tzatziki sauce that comes on the side is great. They also carry Stewart’s soda which is my favorite! The staff is very friendly and the service is fast and good!

Just ordered via Eat 24. They were out of something & needed to substitute it with something else they called & made sure it was ok. Most restaurants don’t do that. I got chicken souvlaki with French fries & a side of Greek dips, yummmm. Will def reorder & delivery was so fast!

So just to keep it short and sweet this place sucks. Placed an order over the phone for a pickup. And not even 10 minutes had gone by I found parking quick and decided to go in and pay and wait. My order was a combination platter of chicken kebab and gyro platter with rice and a small pie with Ham. As soon as I told them why I was there the waitress was already bringing the pizza to me I had a look of disbelief and asked was that pie just freshly made and well done? Everyone looked at each other and said that it was and it takes 7 minutes. BULLSH*T!!! This wasn’t freshly made this is not a coal/wood oven there is no way that in under 10 min the dough was stretched and prepared and placed in the oven to cook. And the chicken and gyro tasted like yesterday’s leftover. I knew it was to early to early to order lunch cause usually the first couple of dishes are always leftovers and reheated. They aren’t the only ones that are guilty of this a lot places do this. They think that people don’t know the difference between fresh and old. Anyway bravo guys for a job well done you won’t be seeing me again.

I friggin’ love this place. Born and raised in NY I can be a bit of a critic when it comes to pizza. But this is by far my favorite. I want to try the other things they have but I don’t care about anything else when I know I’m about to have pizza. My former favorite spot in downtown Brooklyn closed many years ago and I was absolutely devastated. If anything ever happened to this place I don’t think I can stay in NY any more.

Romano’s has been my favorite place to eat for over 20 years. everything/anything you order comes out fresh and delicious. It is family run and nicely taken care of. The staff is always friendly and polite. My boyfriend and i absolutely love this place and will continue eating here. My absolute favorite is the whole wheat thin crust pizza, however they also happen to make the best gyros i have ever had! Great experience every time.

I came this time with my family on Sunday we were 7 of us and the young guy John and the waiter right away setup our table and brought over our menus. Very Friendly Staff. The food came over and was very good we enjoyed the kalamari, pizza, burgers, pasta and dips my father in law loved it a lot. our time there was enjoyable, will recommend to anyone looking for great pizza and gyros which are freshly made.

Romano’s has been delivering on the Greek style fast food goods for too long for me to remember. I’m partial to their pork souvlaki sandwiches. Once in a while I’ll try their pizza but I like to top it off with gyro – yes gyro. Service is spotty depending on the wait staff member you happen to fall upon. On spring or fall afternoons you can dine al fresco. Irrespective of the season Romano’s is great place to grab some quick, Greek style fastfood.

Horrible service. Waited for 30−40min For the food to come out. Thought maybe we caught them on a bad day but after checking other reviews, I guess it’s just them. The food was okay but definitely not worth the wait. Asked for a water refill towards the end and after 15min of waiting for it I was done and just asked for the check. Thanks but no thanks

My experience at this place was not a good one. We walked into this place and it was empty. There were only two other people dining. We ordered a gyro and a burger and waited 30 – 35 minutes. It was ridiculous! I seriously felt like walking out. As we’re waiting on our food, the owner(blonde lady) starts repremanding an employee. It was so uncomfortable and unprofessional. Oh and prepare yourself to hear the waiters yell out loud every single order to the cooks. Omg so annoying!!! Finally we get our food… what a DISSAPOINTMENT it was. You know that feeling you get when you spend money on crappy food and just ate something that was not fulfilling at all? Yup… that’s how we felt. We will NOT be returning here at all.

Solid four star review. Romano’s isn’t an Italian but a Greek spot in Astoria that’s been around for a while that happens serves fantastic pizza. So let’s start with the pizza! Romano’s probably has the best pizza I’ve around the Broadway area of Astoria and pretty much around the vicinity as well. From getting your general cheese pizza or getting something like a Hawaiian and even a mushroom and pepperoni — the pizza here tastes great. The dough, the cheese and ingredients are just put together that doesn’t fail. It’s not complex and they don’t use any complicated ingredients or anything trying to fancy it up. It’s simple and good pizza. And what’s even better? The price is absolutely worth it. The personal-sized pizzas are filling aren’t overpriced. Now on to the rest of the menu. I’ve tried everything from the Souvaki Platter, Chicken Guacamole Crunch Wrap, Grape Leaves, etc. and have never really been let down by their taste and of course the price. The portions are filling and satisfying. I also have never had a problem with their service whether I’m picking up food or dining in. The service has never been a problem either. The décor is simple and nothing fancy. It’s a good spot to eat some solid pizza, Greek food and some other menu items like burgers and etc. It’s an overall good experience and one of the better long standing areas in Astoria to eat at.
