We purchased floating laminate flooring and supplies from a nationwide distributor and got estimates from 3 different local flooring companies. We decided to go with Khan Carpets for the installation. The owner, Gorge Khan visited our home and gave us a moderate price. So we made a deposit and booked the installation date. Mr Khan stated that he would send 2 – 3 workers to get the job done. They were to remove the original quarter round moldings, apply new molding and it would take no more than 2 days time to complete. On installation day, 1 worker arrived for the job. He did not have the proper tools and did not prep my apt for the work. Although, we cleared out most of our furniture and all of our décor and personal belongings, there was still 2 marble tables, a desk and a large sectional sofa in the living area. He used a saw without a bag and didn’t cover my furniture. Within minutes, my new sofa was covered in saw dust. He did not fill the low areas before floating the laminate boards which caused the floor to ripple when walked on. He did not remove the original molding before installing the floor boards. He cut the the laminate around the thresholds instead of cutting into the thresholds to accommodate the flooring. This all resulted in uneven gaps throughout the perimeter of the room. His plan was to fill in the gaps with caulking and quarter round molding. I have never seen quarter round molding around thresholds and caulking filled holes in laminates before. On the 3rd day is when I realized that this guy wasn’t qualified for the job. I called Mr Khan and requested his presence for an evaluation. He refused to review the job, stating that he simply didn’t have time. He did, however, send two additional workers to help finish up the job. The additional workers arrived without tools. They said they needed to come back for a 4th day of work with the proper tools needed to get the job done. A worker also told me that the quarter round moldings would not cover the gaps due to the sloppy cuts. He told me that the installation was botched and the floors needed to be removed and redone properly. Mr Khan visited our home that night but only after threatening to have his worker pull up all the planks and take the material with him, he finally calmed down enough and offered to have the same person return to finish the job or I would have to wait 5 days for the other two workers to return to finish the job. I was so completely disappointed and untrusting of Gorge Khan and his team that we decided to withhold the balance and contract another team of professionals to repair our laminate flooring. I learned to make sure there is a time frame and work details noted on a contract before booking work for home improvements. I made sure to take plenty of photos and videos. In my experience, Gorge Khan from Khan Carpets was conning and disrespectful. He has subpar equipment and an unprofessional staff. I DONOTRECOMMENDKHANCARPETINGFORLAMINATEFLOORINSTALLATION!

Place rating: 5 Astoria, NY
I have lived in Astoria for 16 years and have only bought wall to wall carpet twice — both times from Khan because their carpets last a really long time, the price is very reasonable and the service is great. I know when I order from them it is going to be a hassle-free experience and that gives me a lot of peace of mind. They moved from one end of Steinway to the other, now at 23 – 29. Some old web entries have their address wrong, so take note. They are now near Astoria Blvd.
