H&R Block

I never write review, but this is too frustrated and I had to warn anybody out there, not to repeat what I have been through.
I used HRblock for past 6 – 7 years, my return is simple, so HR block is doable. This year I have an investment. So I ordered the «Best of both» and want let a tax professional to review my return I prepared.
The first stage is pretty smooth. I picked a tax professional and she is able to get back me quickly and asked me to do some modifications. So she released the file back to me. I did some changes but since then the system couldn’t send my file back to her anymore. I called IT, nobody can understand what their system is doing and I couldn’t get my files back. The only think I can see under my file is some random people the system assign to review my file.
I prepared my tax on March 8 and by April 11 I still couldn’t get it done. This is huge hole in their system. I am really worried about my Identify theft during all these process. I think I am done with the HR block. Next year I will switch to turbo tax.

I haven’t Unilocaled in a while but after doing my taxes with an online service and messing up a MISC income form, I decided to listen to the commercials and go in and have a second look and get my taxes done.
Disclaimer: These guys are a national company that makes money by charging people to do their taxes. The standard form is around $ 100. Get over it, or go find an accountant for cheaper.
I walked in on a Saturday afternoon and expected a complete zoo. It was busy, but the guy up front working the desk was accomadating and on his game. The person I had an appt with (make one online) wasn’t there for some reason and just before I started to grumble, he found me another rep and I was sitting at a desk with someone in minutes. My rep was appropriately cheerful and über– capable. All business. It turned out I had made a big mess of my taxes and she was focused, calm and explained what was gong on each step. Every other rep seemed to be just as good judging by the conversations I overhead.
I actually wanted to call HR Block and leave a customer review, but their website was too complicated, and figured a Unilocal review would be better for people in the area.
Doing your taxes sucks, and paying for it sucks even more, but if you’re like me and need a human to help you do things this complicated (freelancers unite!) you won’t be in bad hands here. As a waitress, I was super impressed with the crowd management and service. They were organized, polite, and human. Don’t be mad at HR Block for their rates (or be mad, but don’t hold it against these locals trying to make it work!)

I met with the office manager, Robert, and let me tell you, this dude is on top of his game. He was very helpful and really helped clear up all of the questions I had. Only 4 stars because the first person I met with was awful. She repeatedly entered WRONG information into the system and I had to proof everything she did. Just ask for Robert and you’ll be very satisfied.

BEWARE. The «free federal tax processing» is only for those who have ZERO deductions. They will not tell you up front so don’t make the same mistake I did and let them schmooze you into thinking you’re getting a great process for cheap. I paid $ 142 for the most simple tax return you’ve ever seen. I thought maybe by going to an experienced tax professional I’d get a bigger return but the person I worked with was not helpful in the least: he treated my questions as if I was an idiot, and breezed through answers like he was in a hurry. Save yourself some time and money and use TURBO TAX instead!

Dude, you guys charged me $ 122 for 20 minutes worth of work. Luckily I had a $ 25 coupon (don’t ask me where I got it) but come on… I’m a single, broke, 24 year old.
Do you think $ 122 is a fair rate for us broke-​ass people of the world? And during a RECESSION? Nope.
