5 stars for great classic pizza. Thin crust, not bready slight chew. Good ratio of sauce to cheese. Beats others in the hood(alba, Porto, etc). Not much on speciality toppings or food, but who cares. Get the standard pie. comfort

Great pizza and very consistent with quality. Quick delivery too! It’s my only spot for pizza. Most other places in Astoria suck.

Very good pizza. Especially with not many good pizza places in Astoria anymore. A lot faster, fresher, flavorful and cheaper than portobello on ditmars.

Don’t know what changed here — after years of zero issues, we had three terrible orders in a row. One: delivery guy went to wrong address, called five times over the course of 20 minutes, argued with me about where I lived(address via Seamless, same for years). Overall, took an hour and a half. Two: Order took 2.5 hours. When guy showed up, he said car broke down(we’re less than a mile away). Calling to check up, we got hung up on, lied to(«He says he’s on his way.» «He said he delivered it.» «He’s not answering his phone.») They offered nothing to help. When Seamless called to get the refund? They told them they didn’t speak English and hung up on them. Was a great place for a while, but now, won’t go back.

this is second time this has happened to me i ordered buffalo wings which usually come with some spicy sauce, and all i got were chicken wings with bleu cheese, i don’t know why this place calls chicken wings buffalo wings when they dont add any spice to it, i spoke with the owner about changing the menu to just chicken wings and he refused. SOBUYERBEWAREIF U WANTSPICYHOTBUFFALOWINGSTHISISNOTTHEPLACETOBUYTHEM, and there is no option for spicy, hot mild, etc.

This place is consistently good and affordable. Chicken rolls and chicken Parm here are some of the better offerings of those dishes that I’ve had. Staff is very nice, and they are always happy to make you whatever you desire at anytime. There are certainly better pizza places in the world I’m sure, but in a neighborhood where food is plentiful, these guys do it great!

Super fast delivery, and the pizza is great. But the gnocchi was unevenly cooked and bland. I’ve had the cheese tortellini before and it was good but lacking pepper. Overall, it’s good but inconsistent food.

Love this place. For me, they are the best in Astoria. I am a frequent customer and never disappointed. Fast and friendly delivery and the food is always hot when it arrives. Generously sized portions and the prices are good. Their pizza is always fresh and doesn’t need extra condiments to add flavor. The Sicilian pizza is excellent made with a perfect airy and crispy crust. I really like their sauce — it’s not too sweet or too salty. My family orders at least twice a month and our other favorites are eggplant rollatini, lasagna, meatball parm, calzones, and chicken rolls. Yum, yum.

Anyone who says the pizza here is «divine» must have been born to a mother who thought blowing lines of coke all day for 9 months was«divine». The pizza straight up sucks, BUT they are open late and have a bunch of other stuff, which is awesome. Also I don’t think there is another pizza shop conveniently nearby. Note that my experience with the bunch of other stuff is a a 5⁄10 hence 3 stars. Definitely edible but definitely not amazing.

One of the best meatball parmys out. The chicken parm hero is really good too. Friendly staff. Love to go there when making LGA runs.

Best pizza I’ve ever had… seriously. New York really does have the best pizza but it aint in Manhattan. Forget manhattan… overpriced window pizza sitting out under a heat lamp all day? Fuck that. Get the Grandma slice or a full Grandma pie and you won’t regret it. Crust has a nice good crunch. A little fresh basil on top. Perfect amount of sauce to cheese ratio. You can’t go wrong. Also the Vodka pie is to die for. GREATGREATGREAT Pizza!!!

This is my go-to pizza place right by my house. The crust is not too thin and not to thick. The sauces and cheese are delicious. I get plain cheese pizza all the time, but I also hear that their specialty pizzas are also great. Not a proper restaurant, better for delivery.

I’ve had numerous slices from Apicius from their plain slice to their chicken and broccoli and buffalo chicken slices and they are all just okay. The slices are pretty big and filling and they are always generous with the toppings but I’ve never bitten into a slice and felt any special kind of way about it. the prices aren’t bad and there actually isn’t much in the area so you can’t go wrong ordering from here. Anytime I get something with chicken here I find it just tastes weird. Whether it’s on my pizza or a chicken sandwich it just tastes odd to me.

Nothing out of this world but definitely better than quite a few of the Astoria pizza places and well priced too. I ordered a large margarita from here which came well seasoned/baked and was piping hot– their sizes are pretty big too. It was an overall good slice and I prob killed the whole thing within a day and a half. I also got some sides– mozzarella sticks and garlic knots which were exactly as I was hoping they’d be. Super fast delivery and brought to our door by the owner himself. No complaints(rare!). Will definitely order from here again.

My go to pizza spot in Astoria. Take out is fairly quick. Their pies are good, as well as the sausage and broccoli rabe hero, eggplant rollatini, mozzarella sticks, and grilled chicken caesar salad.

This was the worst pizza that I have ever had in my life. I called, based on a recommendation, and asked for the house special with chicken. Apparently when I hung up the phone some said«hey throw a few toppings, no cheese on some bread and said ‘fuck you’ to me» because that is what it felt like. My roommate, who recommended it to me, had a slice from there that looked 100% better than the garbage they sent me. I cannot believe they felt that $ 14.55 was worth what they sent. ITWASTHEWORST. Never ordering from their again. I’d rather eat a dirt water cart hot dog and save the money than what this place offers.

This review is for take-out/delivery only, so I can’t comment much on the dine-in experience. For the sake of convenience, Apicius has become a dietary staple for me since I moved into Astoria a year ago. It’s the closest restaurant to my apartment and it’s one of the only places within walking distance(other than the bodegas) that is open later. While you can definitely find a better Italian meal or pizza in the area, the convenience keeps me coming back for those late-night snacks, quick slices on my walk back from the train, or afternoons spent lounging on the couch where even getting out of the house is an achievement. In terms of a regular slice of pizza, Apicius is nothing special. It’s not good, it’s not bad; it’s just a standard slice of pizza. There are a number of toppings and«specialty» slices, but nothing that can’t be found at most other pizza-serving establishments. There’s chicken cutlet and broccoli, eggplant with fresh tomato and mozzarella, grandma-style, buffalo chicken, etc. They also have pretty well-priced chicken(and other meats) rolls, calzones, heroes, etc. Since I’m usually going for convenience, I’ve only had a pasta dish there once, but it wasn’t bad at all. Strangely enough, living in an area with so much Greek food, I find myself ordering a Greek salad from Apicius A LOT. I don’t know what it is, but I find their’s to be just perfect for what I’m looking for(as long as I don’t forget to ask for them to half the normal number of red onions they put on, which is a ton). If you’re looking for a good meal or the best pizza around, Apicius is probably not for you. But for someone like myself that lives nearby, it’s a great convenience.
