Holiday Inn Express & Suites Richmond North Ashland

Super friendly staff and accomodating. Got a free upgrade to a suite due to the fact that I had a big party coming back home from a road trip from Savannah.

When I walked up to the desk staff looking for a room, I told them I had a very important question. Do you have a hot tub? The guy at the counter said, «Yes.» Then I told him the second question was more important than the first — Does it work? He said, «Yes». Told him I’d take a room, didn’t even ask the price, ended up being around $ 180 or so after taxes.
While chatting at checkin, we had small chit chat about how I’d been on a horse that day for several hours, I had the option to push through and get home or stop for the night and try to find some place with a hot tub, that I was a bit sore from riding and a hot tub would be really nice, that I had been other places that had advertised hot tubs but they were either non-​functional or outdoor seasonal, so I felt the need to ask those two questions before anything else, that if they did not have a working hot tub that I would continue down the road… It was REAL clear I was there only because of the hot tub.
When you think of a hot tub, you think hot water, lots of bubbles, massaging action, probably tied to a timer for safety reasons. Right?
Long story short — hot tub did not work. It was a bowl of hot soup. I would have received more action by driving home, drawing a hot bath, and asking my kids to stick straws in it and blow bubbles. And I did not find this out until the morning, when I tried to use it after breakfast.
Front desk was unable to help me. It was her second day on the job, and no manager was scheduled to work that day.
After much complaining to corporate, I was told that the manager at that location would have to work with me. Turns out, it was the manager who had checked me in. He acknowledged that he knew the hot tub was not working when he checked me in. But, because it was hot, it ‘met their standard’ for a functioning hot tub.
Now, maybe this sounds petty. But I could not have been any clearer when I checked in, I was there only because of the hot tub, and why, and he assured me at check in that it worked. Now he is saying that even though it did not work, he was not going to refund my room rate.
I can think of lots of other examples that show how this is wrong. If you were to purchase a car with an engine that does not work properly, you would take it back. If you were to purchase a book that is missing pages, you would ask for a refund. Right?
And not only did the manager say that he checked me in knowing full well that the hot tub did not work, but offered that had I told him the night I checked in, he would have moved me to a room with a private hot tub that worked fully.
WHAT? He knew I was there only for the hot tub, he knew that the hot tub did not work properly, and he knew that there was an available room with a private hot tub that worked properly.
I call that a scam. It is a shame that he felt the need to lie to me to earn a buck for his hotel, and I’m going to let as many people as possible know about this.

Definitely didn’t disappoint this hotel was as good as I remembered from our last visit 5 years ago. Will definitely stay there again

The front desk lady is really nice!!! The hotel is really nice for the low price point. My only knock on this hotel is the cold pool and smelly hot tub.

Rooms are clean, lots of restaurants nearby, front desk staff was friendly, and the AAA discount made the room 113 $. Not bad considering its location to I-​95 and Washington, D.C. Free wifi, breakfast and parking.

Perfect for what it is. This was a great place to pull over for the night. Clean and the beds were comfortable. Staff was nice and helpful. Warm breakfast in the morning included.

Front desk wasn’t overly friendly. I felt like she was probably having a bad day.
I had a mini suite. Nice size, two large TVs. Carpet was a little dated but overall decent room.
I would stay again.

I went to a party in one of their banquet rooms. The place was nicely set up. The front desk clerk was very accomodating. I would consider renting from here myself in the future.

Pros: Discounted rate after arriving in the middle of the night, extended checkout time, good location off I95 near restaurants, friendly & helpfull front desk, comfortable bed, good tv channel selection
Cons: Stained bed skirts, outdated bathroom, thin walls, hair in the shower, loud cleaning staff, dusty furniture, bleach smell
Overall: Will look at other places in the area as this is a yearly stop on our vacation drive.

Pretty decent Holiday Inn Express, if you ask me. There was a nice lobby area (looked slightly outdated, but in general looked good), and we checked in with no problem.
The room itself is pretty big; it was a mini suite with two TVs, a micro fridge, microwave and a decent bathroom. The beds felt plenty comfy, also.
The breakfast area was a bit small, compared to the size of the hotel. There were several baseball teams here for a tournament, and a few families had to either eat in the lobby or take their food to their room. Sausages, biscuits, and eggs were all there. If I remember, there were two or three different kinds of cereal, and a pretty cool pancake maker machine-​thingy.
The pool wasn’t bad, however the somewhat low ceiling may make people who are claustrophobic not want to use the pool/​hot tub.
Pros: Nice rooms, staff, good selection for breakfast.
Cons: Breakfast area & pool seemed small, compared to the rest of the hotel (as I previously stated).
Other than the two minor complaints above, I thought that this particular Holiday Inn Express is pretty nice, as compared another one that I’ve reviewed (see my profile for the review). I’d gladly stay here again, if I ever needed to.

King rooms are pretty big… mini suites with refrigerators, microwaves and sinks. Had a Spades party in my room with two tables of four people each :) Free Wi-​Fi. Free hot breakfast. Great location to stay if you’re visiting King’s Dominion since it’s not right on the property, but still close enough. Judi is great to work with when coordinating group rates. Pool is tiny. Fitness center is more like a closet with a treadmill in it. Not much parking.

The price seemed a little high (even with a AAA discount it was $ 135.00), but the room was enormous and very clean. The only problem we had was that our room was near the pool and between that noise and the woman, man, and small child who spent between 7 and 11 pm screaming at each other. (The front desk was called and we heard them stop arguing for a short amount of time but they just started back up again).
I would still stay here again.

104.99 for room. Room was huge and clean. Room had two flat screens, micro, and fridge. Restaurants all around. Worth the money.
