This gallery is mostly above my pay grade, with pieces running from $ 1000 on up. Most impressive was an all-glass bench at $ 14,000. And considering it’s prominent advert placement within the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Playbill, someone must be buying this stuff! As Toni M. mentions, the old Railroad District building that contains the Davis and Cline gallery is elegant and welcoming. The glass and other art is equally inviting and it does draw you in and encourages you to explore. More surprising was after wandering around a bit, I found myself calculating how I might afford this or that and wondering where we might put it. And next year, when Gayle and I finish combining our households, who knows?

If you like Chihuly glass this is your place. They used to have two galleries, the other across the street in the same block but have combined them. This was the main gallery and they’ve done a lovely job of renovating an old Railroad District building. At least I think it’s an old building. At any rate the façade is elegant and welcoming, a pleasure to the eyes even before you enter. In addition to art glass they have a changing display of paintings and other wall art. I think we discovered them 4 or 5 years ago and it’s a place I visit pretty much every time I’m in Ashland. Everything I’ve seen there has engaged my interest, whether it’s something I’d like for my own walls or not.
