History
Established in 1979.
In the fall of 1979 Karen Chapman, Sheila Burns, Nancy Peterson and Denise Harnly opened Bloomsbury Books. These four wonderful women shared a long-time dream of owning a literary bookstore that would serve as the intelectual heart of the community. Denise moved away in the 1980s, and Nancy passed away in 1997. Almost thirty-six years after opening their doors, Sheila, Karen, and Bloomsbury Books remain at the heart of Ashland.
