The only reason they don’t get fine stars is because the service was so slow — it did seem as if there WS donly one person waiting on everyone and possible making the food? There weren’t too many tables, but it did take some time to get our cheese plate. Other than that, this place was excellent! We got a glass of wine each, and a cheese plate. The gentleman waiting on us was very friendly — that was what kept us there even though service was slow. Most people have said service is great, so maybe it was an off day?

The service here is wonderful, especially if you sit at the bar. If you are not sure what to order, the server always has great suggestions. The food is a great mix of small plates, salads, and wonderful pizzas. We always get one of their many cheese plates to start, then share a pizza. This combo always leaves us full, but not feeling stuffed! They have an ever changing wine and beer on tap. I still think wine on tap is just genius! Can’t wait to go back.

This is a wonderful place if you like good wine. A reasonably large selection of whites, reds and rose. They change their selection frequently so your never get bored. If you’re not sure what wine to choose they have flights. They frequently have specials on bottles. You can taste to see what you like. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Outdoor seating under umbrellas, indoor seating on big couches at the bar or table. They also have daily food specials and a regular menu. We have had several selections of both and we’re always happy. It is light and not your basic so don’t expect a burger. I will go there as much as I can.

Excellent and knowledgeable service helped me to pick perfect glass after perfect glass of wine. They also have a nice beer selection of local drafts. The food is excellent, but it’s more of a snacks and sides place than somewhere you would go for dinner. I’m often dissatisfied with the subpar service in Asheville, but Sante’s is consistently friendly, brisk, and nuanced.

I was there with some friends and I was really enjoying myself. We got a glass of wine and a cheese plate which was good. Our server was nice at first until it came to the tip. The waiter was not happy with the tip we left, which was a little over 10% which for just stopping in and the amount of our bill felt to be a fair amount, and he then confronted us about the amount we left. He asked if he gave good service and we said yes. He then said«well it was just a low tip». He was very rude and aggressive about it and asked us numerous times why we gave him such a «low tip». We were so offended and horrified at how awful we were treated! I would complain but it sounds like the management is just as bad as their servers. I will never go in there again! I will say it had great food and wine but it had the WORST service I have ever had in my life!

We liked it so much we went twice in 2 days. The wine prices were extremely reasonable, I’d say a couple dollars less per glass than I’ve paid for the same wines elsewhere. We had a lovely cheese plate and the bartenders were friendly and helpful.

This is very nice place to come for some light food and drinks. The service was great and the salad and crème brulee ordered was excellent. They have a good wine selection with some local beers on tap.

Easily the best wine bar in the asheville area. Despite frequenting this establishment for the past three years, I am constantly surprised by the excellence of the food they serve as well as the wine. The staff is incredibly knowledgable and friendly, even steering you to a less expensive bottle if they feel it is better quality than the headliners. This is a true gem of asheville and especially of the grove park arcade. I would highly recommend this to any one or couple that would like a quiet place to enjoy some delicious food bs wine.

I brought a European winemaker here during a visit to America and I am pleased that the server was easily able to keep up with him in conversation in relation to the wines. The cheese plates are impressive and I like the atmosphere as well — whether sitting inside or on the patio.

Very nice place to stop in for a glass of wine. The service was great and so was the wine. They had great charcuterie choices and the wine list was pretty good. We had a great time!

Had a wonderful time at Sante! First, the service was excellent. Our waitress was cheerful, patient, helpful, knowledgeable, and knew exactly when to check in. Second, we really enjoyed the dog-friendly patio space. The interior was decorated very nicely as well. Third, we enjoyed our wine flight(two we picked, two from the recommended list). Fourth, the food was pretty good. We each enjoyed a wrap sandwich. The side of Moroccan carrot salad was our favorite. Definitely check out Sante!

This place is outstanding and a must see for any Asheville visitor. Great seating options– standard bar, couch area and outdoor patio. Local beer and a wine flight option and the price is right on all of it. And the spreads and cheeses are delicious. Definitely a great stop for pre-dinner drinks and apps.

This one is quickly becoming a lunch staple. I do wish more people would join us from time to time, because sometimes it feels awkward being the only ones in there for lunch. Still, the food is pretty delicious, and it’s a great excuse to have some wine at lunch time on a weekday.

Very good selection of wine and cheeses with an excellent knowledge of the products offered. Spent a weekend in Asheville and came here each night to unwind and a once for dinner. Sante is a fantastic stop for a glass of wine, beer, a small bite before dinner, a small dinner, dessert, or any combination above.

We try to fit it the 10 for 10 tasting that is on Sunday every time we visit Asheville. It has become a bit of tradition. You are allowed to try 10 wines of your choice(from a list) for 10 bucks. A great selection of beer and wines on tap. Great place! The bartender is very knowledgeable and never lets your glass be empty for long!

So, I met a friend here for a few glasses of wine. I like this place. Very laid back, servers are not on top of you every few minutes… but a draw back is… servers are not on top of you every few minutes *grin*…seriously, good wine selection and a great outdoor space makes this one of… if not«the» best wine bar in the city. Through in a little food and this place has it all… now if someone would just bomb that LaZoom bus so the tourist wouldn’t not come by gawking it would perfection *wink*.

This is a regular stop for the wife and I on weekend getaways to Asheville. We love the lounge-like ambiance of the inside and the outdoor café style seating of the patio(in the warmer months). Combined with a delicious mix of cheese boards and appetizer-style dips, you can ruin your dinner plans here before you know it, in a good way. In addition to a number of beers from the bottle, the main attraction here are the wines. I’d range the selection as moderate in size and covering most palettes in terms of sparklings, whites, and reds. There is a noticeable bent toward Spanish and French reds here, but bold red drinkers will appreciate this. I’ll agree with others that their American selection is weak, but I’d urge you to try something new if this is a bother to you– they will let you try a small sample of up to three different wines by the glass. There are also a few flights you can try as well. What you will notice(and big time bonus points here), is that in addition to selling a few wines by the glass and by the bottle, Sante is also a retail wine store that will sell you anything on their wall of wine and then charges only a $ 5 corkage fee to pop and pour it for you. The vast majority of their wines are moderately priced($ 10 – 25) so you get a great bottle without the typical restaurant mark up. You can’t find that elsewhere in town, so if you like wine, they would go on your«must» list. I do thoroughly enjoy their cheese boards, both for the local selections and the specialty pairings(4 different goat cheese, for example). The accoutrement is also well done– from the nuts to the many-seeded crackers I adore. The only problem here is that the portion sizes(and corresponding prices) are large, even for a couple to share. There is enough cheese and fixings on a single board to serve as an appetizer for 3 – 4 people, easily. I wish they did half-portions, as this would be more appropriately sized for a typic pair to share. Still, this is relatively minor in comparison since the price of a board and bottle can equate to the price for a single lower-end bottle in most restaurants. To Sante, I say Salut!
