L’eau De Vie Salon/Spa

I had a waxing here for my bikini a little while ago. The place was nice and the people were great but the waxing experience was awful! They use the same stick to dip into the wax over and over. Double dipping is not sanitary. I broke out horribly and am still breaking out a week later! I will not be back due to sanitation!

My experience with Shannon is always beyond excellent.
She is highly skilled, intuitive and also, such a nice lady.
In addition to being dedicated to her craft– she continues to get training and is always adding to her knowledge base. I have the feeling she is on the cutting edge (pun intended) of the most current science of Aveda color.
I have been really happy the way she has been cutting my hair, which is now pretty long. She is helping me find my perfect cut.

Kelly gave me the best eyebrow wax /​shaping I’ve ever had. She had a nice personality, too. Will be going back regularly. The front desk girls were very welcoming & friendly when I visited.

I went to see Andie for a pre-​natal massage. I was visiting from out of town and was having a mix of growing pain and bad vacation mattress aches. At the time, I was about 6.5 months pregnant. Not only was the ambiance soothing and calming, but both Andie and the equipment were extremely relaxing. I believe she was a former OB nurse so she knew exactly how to approach an expectant mother. The best thing about the equipment was the cut out table so I could lay on my stomach, which is my usual resting position but hadn’t been able to do for months. I was so relaxed, it took her a while to «wake» me up to let me know the session was over.
I wish there was a place as lovely as this in NYC!

I have been to L’eau de Vie many times for several different treatments including hair cut, hair color and massage. Each time has been an absolute pleasure, and the salon itself is such a nice and spacious sanctuary set above the busy streets below.
Their receptionist (Lauren) is always so sweet and welcoming when I arrive. I’ve never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen for my haircut or massage, so everything is always very on time. I usually have Lyndsey cut my hair, and I also recently got adventurous and started coloring my hair (due to Lyndsey’s suggestion). And I absolutely LOVE how she has enhanced my look with ombré tips!
I also recently received a massage from Tyler, I believe is his name. BEST. MASSAGE. EVER. Words do not even describe what an amazing job he did. I’ve never been so relaxed after a massage.
If you are looking to lounge around in a robe while waiting for your next treatment, this is not the place for you. There is no «spa lounge». It is first and foremost a salon. But that’s why I like it here… I can zip in and zip out, and it feels like a friendly, familiar place.

We used L’eau de Vie at the suggestion of a friend for hair and makeup for our wedding. We had the artists come to the hotel rather than all of us girls having to leave the hotel and then rush back, and this was defnitely worth the slightly higher price for the convenience! The overall pricing was pretty comarable to other salons that I had spoken with in the area, and I actually dropped in the salon when I happened to be in town one weekend. Amanda was so kind and brought me over to the makeup area to help me pick out colors for my wedding day. I worked with Morgan at the front desk to set everything up. I did have a bit of trouble with sending in pictures of all of the ladies hairstyles. I was told that they would be printed out and sent to the hotel along with the artists, but unfortunately they weren’t. I hadn’t printed them, and we were scrambling to find the same pictures online again when the artists arrived. We never could find my mother’s hairstyle, and she ended up hating her hair which was dissapointing. My hair also fell and didn’t look like the picture that I had requested, which was also a little frustrating. My makeup, however, was absolutely perfect, and I love how it looked so natural in all of the pictures. Amanda was very detailed and spent so much time making sure that it was just right, and I would highly reccommend her!

When I book a 45 min $ 45 pedi, I expect something special. Instead, the basic pedi was worse then a cheap nail salon.
I went here with a friend for a special occasion and was extremely disappointed. At other spas, the technicians use a new buffer and file, not something used on other people and «sanitized». Even cheap places are now using new tools on clients. Here, they used a buffer that was so worn down, it did nothing. The scrub was performed so half assed it felt like a waste of product. And normally the massage should be the best part. But again, lotion was applied and quickly wiped off. The technician was very unfriendly and acted like she was doing us a favor by showing up to work.
Worst spa visit ever:(

Don’t waste your money — this salon is parading as a professional hair salon when in fact the people are mostly under trained and inexperienced — to say nothing of the so called manager named Morgan who is a real b**** she thinks she owns the place– is rude and a mousey little manipulator who’s main job is to misdirect (accidentally on purpose) clients to the the least experienced hairstylists-​when clients make appointments with the more experienced hairstylists she tells you… you are all set… then when you show up she tells you that you are mistaken that you in fact made your appt. With someone other than who you in fact scheduled with– it is a sly tactic to keep all stylists booked. I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS UNSCRUPULOUS SALON… WITH A UNPROFESSIONALLY TRAINED STAFF… AND EVEN WORSE MANAGER… MORGAN… WHO IS A MASTER MANIPULATOR–

This salon is deceivingly large– there are many pockets of rooms in which they do hair, makeup, nail and other salon services. We got our hair done here for a saturday wedding-​all updos except down and curled for the bride. We were taken in pretty much on schedule-​each of the 6 of us got a different stylist and finished at various times. We were told 10−11am in and out. It was more like 10 – 11:30 for everyone to be done but since we had accounted for extra time it was ok. I would recommend them for your updo needs, professional and affordable. We all got a lot of compliments at the wedding on our hair.

I wanted my hair, nails and waxing done at the same time I scheduled my 3 daughters’ mani/pedi’s and my husband’s pedicure. I got a call saying that they couldn’t do my leg waxing because the lady they had called in sick. Then I was asked to come in one hour early to start one of the children. So, we got there an hour earlier than planned and waited a half hour for them to get to us. Found out the gal who does the waxing was on vacation, but that they’d do underarms and eyebrows. They did a good job with the nails, where a little quick on the calf massages. The employees are good with kids, but the salon isn’t adaptable for little people (i.e. my 9 year old couldn’t reach the front of the foot sink). I spent almost six hours there and ended up having to go next door to adorn to get my legs done. The children ended up leaving without manicures because they were hungry and no one would do their nails for over an hour after their feet were done. The haircut was good, loved the highlights, and just okay mani/​pedi. The waxing was acceptable, however I still had a couple hairs that I had to pluck myself.
Way too expensive for the poor business service. No discounts were given and no apologies were made. They advertised July special of free underarm wax with any waxing service, but then charged me for both waxes.
I liked the comfort tea and all employees were very friendly.
All in all, I will never come back. It took too long to get everything done, had to go elsewhere to finish the full makeover, too pricy and not especially great service.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about my experience with Anjuli and the other staff at L’Eau De Vie. I’m not from Asheville so I did some searching around to find a place to have my hair and make up done for my wedding in Asheville. I chose the salon because it had great reviews and it is in a convenient location downtown.
From the beginning, the salon was so great to deal with in setting up appointments for my bridesmaids and family. They were so easy, stress free and organized. I did do a trial run (which I recommend to anyone anywhere) to work out any of the details so you don’t have to the day of your wedding. I mentioned a few tweaks from the trial and she nailed it for my final! The makeup looked beautiful and somehow lasted all night! I will definitely be back to the salon for a massage!

My Stylist is Mike. He always has great advise on products. I do cut and color and I love his work. I consider myself picky too. As for the salon it feels like a Spa with large windows and views of Asheville. I know they participate in Charity work too. So I give them a 5 Star for good work and giving back to the community.

The receptionist acts like she owns the salon and is the first unprofessional person I have ever encountered at an Aveda Salon. I was totally shocked by her bitter, angry, unhelpful attitude, and when I asked to speak with the manager she hung up on me. I will never go back & suggest you stay far, far way!

This review is mostly for Trina, though my partner and I have both had pleasant experiences at the salon, with all the staff. Trina is an amazing stylist. My partner and I searched for awhile to find someone that understood short hair, especially short hair on women. Short hair really is it’s own art form. I would recommend Trina to anyone for any cut though. She is a solid artist. She always understood what I was going for and worked with me asking questions to make sure I was happy with how my cut was going and when it was finished. She’s also an awesome person to spend the time chatting with. Almost forgot — excellent scalp massages too!

Two stars because it is clean and they are super nice. Worst Mani ever. Polish on the skin. Bubbles. Chips the same day. So nice and great massage. So gave it two stars. No buffing or cuticle work either. Super nice people but don’t get a polish or a clean up job there.

So, I was in Asheville for Spring Break. Our plan was to go on an epic hike in the Smoky Mountains, but like all great plans, this one was dashed by snow and wind and road closures. Long story short, my friend and I decided to have a girl’s day out. Being that my highlights were woefully faded and grown out, the hair salon was our first shop.
I found L’Eau De Vie here on Unilocal,so it only makes sense that I return here to give praise. Shannon McCarthy was the name of the stylist, and she was freakin’ awesome. The highlights are the best I’ve ever had, and blonder than I’ve ever had (but not quite so blond that I lose 5 IQ points before I enter into a conversation). I didn’t ask for a lot with my haircut, because I have long hair and wanted to keep it, but she trimmed off more dead/​split ends than most stylists I’ve gone to in the past and it turned out… really good.
Oh, also, the shop is really cute. They have interesting metalwork by some guy named Steebo in the shop, and I also had a pretty solid eyebrow-​waxing done there. They have free coffee and tea. I’m usually a pretty critical reviewer, but this was almost as good as hiking in the mountains. And, from me John Muir’s reincarnated law student, that’s about as good a review as I can give.

I use #2 clippers during the summer months to keep my «mop» high and tight due to the heat and humdity, but as it grows out, no manner of clippers can save my do, so I went to L’eau De Vie for a hair cut.
I have been here before… about 1 year ago and was pleased then and expected no less this time around… and I was right.
Counter staff were nice (and C U T E!) set up my appointment even though I walked right in at the end of the day. I was scheduled for Liza.
She gathered me up from the seating area at my appointment time and gave me a great haircut and some good conversation. I was pleased all around and the cut price was reasonable considering the location/​talent/​and cut I received.
I like this place and the folks working there too.

I had a manicure and haircut with Anjuli and she was wonderful. Super down to earth and funny. The spa has a great atmosphere and is nice and open. Prices are very reasonable and tips are only in cash/​check.
My mom and I were able to walk in and get appointments within 10 minutes on a Wednesday afternoon. My mom has the same services with Sarah Jane and loved her as well. If I lived in Asheville I would definitely be back and I know my mom will!

Beautiful Salon & Day Spa! They perform Aveda spa ritual before any service, it is a special touch. They also offer monthly specials which is an added bonus.

Upstairs, across from a doggie store and up the street from Woolworth Walk, you’ll find this small spa. We popped in and were able to make an appointment immediately for a manicure and pedicure.
They had a pleasant waiting area with free tea/​water/​snacks available to customers. Nail services were all done in the same space — a little, window-​filled room a few steps from the lobby. The two employees there were incredibly nice — chatty without being obtrusive.
All in all, I had a very pleasant time. Was a little disappointed by the smallish color selection, but very pleased with both my manicure and pedicure. And now, nearly three weeks later, my toes are still chip-​free and rocking their polish (and looking v. posh)!
