Great food. The lamb burger was delicious and so were the hush puppies. The service was phenomenal. We will be back!!!

Staff is amazing! Ate there on a Sat morning with two kids and a dog in tow and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier… All of them! Can’t tell you what that means to parents who are just trying to have a nice Saturday morning with their *whole* family. Other patrons were super nice, too. Food was awesome! We had the sweet potato hush puppies as a starter. Expected sweet and they ended up being a little hot, which was a surprise. The waitress gave us this delicious Jam to go with them and it balanced out nicely. We all had the Belgian waffle with fried chicken. Couldn’t resist! Fried chicken was SO good! Waffle was cooked to perfection. We will be back!

This place is awesome! I am vegetarian my boyfriend is a carnivore. I had the beet burger with a salad and mashed potatoes and herb gravy. The beet burger was amazing. Veggies were fresh and mashed potatoes were awesome. My boyfriend had the habanero sweet potato chicken and the pumpkin waffle. The chicken was very spicy. It was the first time I had really seen him sweat over spicy food. The pumpkin waffle was so fluffy and flavorful, I definitely snuck a nibble or two. Very satisfied with the food. The service was good but a bit scattered. I think 4 different people attended to our table throughout our visit, however, I can’t say we weren’t taken care of.

Most places that do «chicken and waffles» should probably stick with one or the other. Not King Daddy’s, please keep doing what you’re doing! I had the white meat chicken with habanero sweet potato sauce with a Belgian waffle and peanut butter. Add blackberry sauce to the waffle and you can die happy.

New favorite brunch spot in West Asheville. This place is super fun and eclectic and thankfully it wasn’t too crowded for a Sunday breakfast. The menu is very extensive and it all looked yummy! They do have outdoor seating as well.

I loved my shrimp burger and was less excited about the sweet potato hush puppies. Regular are better. I was bad and got the fried apple pie for dessert. Sinful. Good service, quality, variety and prices. Would come back for sure to try the veggie dishes.

Seriously this place is amazing! The food was absolutely delicious. My husband got the heirloom chicken and the Belgian waffles and I got the regular fried chicken with the Belgian waffles. All I have to say is WOW! The waffles were light and fluffy and the breading on the chicken was out of this world. We had a friend who was local recommend this place, and I can say man I’m glad we ate here! The service was also fantastic. Do yourself a favor and take a lunch or dinner break here. It’s worth every penny!

Had heard a lot about King Daddy and wanted to try it. Was in Asheville for the weekend and decided to stop by. Had to go with the chicken and waffles. They were pretty good. The waffles seemed a little underdone and I opted for the grilled chicken. It was good but not the best that I have had. Maybe I should have opted for the fried chicken instead. I watched other plates come out and everything looked really good. Would try it again when I am back in town.

Oh come on Ms. Daisy. This is truly an Ashevillian eatery! This is really the best place I have eaten in the city. It service starts as soon as you walk in. The manager Clint is very hands on and you can tell with the service minded attitude of the entire staff. Food was truly southern chicken and waffle done with an Asheville attitude. Cornmeal waffle was killer with just a hint of clove. Kale salad was very well prepared with pears and beets and radishes. Collards were better than grandmas only if your granny was an excellent cook. Pickled beetsGrilled yardbirdsweet potato hush puppies. This formerly fat kid says yumm and I’ll be back. Update. 5⁄1 Winner Winner, on this fat kids quest to eat around the menu sulunch today was a Fried Green tomatoe salad/side of cornmeal waffle and sweet potato habanero salsa. Yow Sir it was good as last time and the service was even betterer. How is that even possible??? If you ain’t been here yet, what is holdin you bak?

King Daddy’s has won me over, and is now my go to place for a great breakfast on a Saturday or Sunday. Up until recently I never really looked at the menu as I went to my vice — their fried Chicken with Sweet Potato habanero coating over a Belgian waffle. Unfortunately for me I have had to give this kind of rich and heavy food up, so just recently I actually took some time to look through the menu and saw an endless world of healthier options. As everything is ala carte you can really build an amazing plate. So this time I ordered the grilled chicken breast, an avocado, and 1 egg over medium. Wow! The chicken is brined and grilled to perfection. you really don’t need a knife to cut it, and the avocado and egg were great additions. Its hard to think that a place named King Daddy’s Chicken and Waffles as being healthy, but this meal along with countless other options including GF/vegetarian hits the spot for me and really does it well. Oh, and if you are visiting Asheville, and you hear everyone talking about some place down the street that serves really big biscuits the size of your head, you will likely find the line wrapped around the building. If long lines aren’t your thing, I recommend you come on down to KD’s and you’ll likely find the wait time much more agreeable, and you definitely wont have someone’s butt in your face while you eat as the line at that establishment continuously hovers over your table.

The naturally bright(in the front), minimalistic and open space vibe of King Daddy’s is spot-on, the staff are always pleasant and attentive, and their beer menu is all local. I’ve been here a handful of times, so far. I either order the fish and chips or the shrimp burger. Most recently I had the shrimp burger with fried green tomatoes as a side option. The burger was scrumptious. The fried green tomatoes were so-so. Not poorly cooked, just not to my liking compared to what’s offered-up at other local eateries in Asheville. I’d like to point-out they serve a GREAT fish and chips. We ordered the trio plate for our toddler from the kids section(in which you select off of the«sides» section) and it was perfect. So much food! What stood out to me the most regarding our meals was the amount of food we each received. King Daddy’s is definitely generous in that department. Also, the ripeness of the fresh vegetables offered with my burger and in the side salad were delectable. One of west Asheville’s best for food.

I really want to like King Daddy’s Chicken & Waffle on Haywood Road in the heart of West Asheville, and I do in a way, but I don’t think it’s quite hitting the mark at dinner. We went there for dinner with a friend not too long after it opened and have been back once with a group at lunch. We recently revisited it for dinner on a Sunday evening in late January. When we arrived a little before seven the restaurant was about half full. Out friendly waiter said breakfast and early lunch times are busiest, with waits for breakfast on weekends. We started with the fried chicken liver appetizer($ 7), which is good, and a big serving, but a little odd. The fried livers are mashed up a bit and served on lettuce with a shitake mushrooms and onion topping, With the appetizer I had a vodka martini($ 8) that was cold, not quite dry enough, and the bar didn’t have cocktail onions, just olives. My companion’s specialty drink, a «Louie»($ 10, the priciest drink on the menu) with rye, Benedictine, absinthe and Peychaud bitters, served up, was really good. I had the fried chicken(white meat, $ 7) with mashed potatoes and lamb gravy as a side(extra $ 3). Most items are a la carte, again odd for this kind of diner-style eatery. My companion had the Korean chicken with another $ 3 side, fried green tomatoes, and a $ 1.50 biscuit. Both chicken dishes were good, although my fried chicken was on the greasy side. My mashed potatoes and gravy side was barely warm. The fried green tomatoes were like hockey pucks. Maybe it’s difficult to get good green ‘maters in winter? The biscuit was terrible. I can make better biscuits than this with my eyes closed! With the meal, we each had a draft local craft beer, $ 4.50 each for a pint. Total for two persons with tax and tip was around $ 72. Not outrageous, and we did have a total of two cocktails and two beers, but maybe on the high side for this kind of neighborhood place. Service was excellent. I’ll go back again, but probably for breakfast or lunch, not dinner. I know it’s difficult to run two restaurants(Early Girl and King Daddy’s), but I think King Daddy’s needs to up its dinner game a bit.

There is this moment of elation when you realize that you possess most of the personaity traits of the main characters and some of the personality traits of the secondary characters on «Bob’s Burgers». The following review is the spawn of that same state noted above: Someone suggested we go here, and we went. If the band«The Promise Ring» was a restaurant, it would be this place. It feels airy, modern, cheery, and blue. Plus with a dash of Ikea and diner culture. I love it. They seat you fast, inside or out, sun or rain. Crowded on Saturdays, even early. Comfy booths, napkins, and cutlery right there at the table for you. Everyone is super nice. The manager is great. They are patient and answer questions. They work their buns off, especially when my husband spills water– his signature move. The water is not ice cold, which I like. I think that is better for digestion. You are not supposed to drink really cold water after exercise, and neither are chickens in general. I love chicken and acting like one! The food. The. Food. For the sake of observation, I went off my pre-diabetic diet for m-, er, I mean, you. Best fried chicken I ever had, on and off bone. Best naked chicken I have ever had. All natural. Best waffle I have ever had. Tastes American and European at the same time. They give you molasses and real maple syrup for stuff, and they make sure the bottles are not sticky. My eggs came the way I like them. They tasted fresh and were not dry. Jam is made of local berries. Salt and pepper are interesting and not pretentious. They bring requested condiments. More: French fries are great. They remind me of boardwalk ones fried in a lightly nutty oil. Mashed potatoes and the mac and cheese will make you forget that you have kids with you. We took home the chocolate mayo cake, and it was superb. The owners make it themselves. The frosting reminded me of my Nagymama’s on her German version. They know what they are doing. Classic cocktails for fashionable adults are here, as well as beer for bearded men. The menu has the perfect amount of listings. It is not overwhelming. You feel spoiled with the choices, but can make one. Bathrooms are clean, and have wipes at the diaper station. Parking is intense. Lot is shared with two(?) businesses at the back, and is competitive. One seated-in-car-past-patron made us wait for her spot while she checked her wallet, texts, canine, and the canines in her mouth. I was mentally scratching her Subaru. King me. Daddy me. Just make sure we go to King Daddy’s first.

This place is absolutely amazing! I would move all the way out to Asheville for this restaurant alone! We recently came here for a late lunch during a stopover on a road trip. I am such a big fan of chicken & waffles and was very excited when my boyfriend suggested we check it out. We were definitely not disappointed! The staff here is very friendly and welcoming. Our server greeted us warmly and checked on us very frequently. I love servers with great personalities who genuinely like people. I had a really great feeling about the staff here. The food was absolutely delicious! Because of my affinity for all things pumpkin, I ordered the pumpkin waffle and added chocolate chips to it. I got the fried chicken along with it. I’m also obsessed with mac & cheese, so I ordered that as well for a side. Every bite of it was so incredibly delicious that I just couldn’t get enough! I loved the food here, and the staff was amazing. I would definitely come here all the time if I lived nearby. But I definitely want to come back the next time I pass through!

This may seem strange, but I feel like King Daddy’s may be a bit underrated. Sure, it has a solid 4 and a half stars on Unilocal, but it’s not one of the big 3 breakfast spots that people line up for in town,(Tupelo, Biscuit Head, Sunny Point) and it really should be. It’s great. The interior is large and spacious. Great seating in booths and tables. The menu options are plentiful. Sure, its specialty is chicken and waffles, but there’s a FULL breakfast and dinner menu as well. I recently had the fish and chips and I was quite pleased. The location is sweet, with its own parking lot and a pet friendly patio. My service here has always been top notch, coffee never gets cold, and ample water as well. Selections come out quick and hot. Feeling like you’re ready to party? King Daddy’s also has a selection of draft beers and a full bar to make sure you get as awesome as you want to be. I have nothing but nice things to say about this place. I’m still trying to figure out what my perfect order would be… the menu is seriously that large. The good news is this will take many more visits to go through the entire menu.

Not sure how, but I lucked out on a busy Saturday morning and scored seating instantly. The first thing I noticed was how much the vibe at King Daddy’s reminded me of Blue Collar’s(in Miami). We were greeted right away and given our menus. Service was a little off after that. We couldn’t always find our waiter. I also noticed the table and floor were sticky. That was a turn-off. I tried not to focus on it throughout lunch. We went back and forth on drinks and decided on beer to go with our fried chicken and waffles. They had several cool ones on tap which we were able to sample before«committing.» Unfortunately, I don’t remember the names. FOOD: Fried Green Tomatoes: loved these! Seasoned Pork Cracklins: I wanted these to be more like Cuban«chicarrones,» but they weren’t. The fat was visible and the crisp was mostly missing. Not that they are meant to be the healthiest thing on the menu, but I felt my health decline with each bite. Habanero Sweet Potato Fried Chicken: deep-fried and dipped in habanero sweet potato sauce. Loved my first bite(even though I cried through it because it was that hot). The chicken comes drenched in the purée. While at first I tasted the crispiness of the chicken, it then quickly became a soggy mess. The purée(IMHO) needs to be lightly drizzled on top and then provided on the side. This way, the chicken stays crisp and you can dip as you go along. BUT, I still managed to eat most of it. I loved the habanero punishment. Korean Fried Chicken: crispy fried and tossed with ginger soy sauce, served with pickled radish. Size wise, these look more like wings than your typical chicken legs, but man-oh-man these were incredible. I would be happy with a bucket of these and nothing else! Belgian Waffle: good and just like I’d make at home. Overall, I’m happy I got to try King Daddy’s while in town. Not sure I’d rush back though and that’s why I have to stick to a three star rating.

I found another local gem that I will be regularly visiting. Places like this put a smile on my face and make me brag to anyone and everyone of the local gems we have right here in AVL!!! The restaurant layout and décor is just as local as you would think here in AVL. The wood wall cap near the ceiling made me envy the décor of the restaurant as I am looking almost exactly that same layout for a custom work table for my office. This point of interest allowed us to strike up an 20 min conversation with the lovely wait staff which prompted additional topics. This is what local customer service is all about folks making you feel at home. That leads to a 5 star review in my eyes for the service The outdoor seating area is a cool area if you wish to sit outside. It is covered and shaded The indoor area is plentiful for the space and you get a good view of the kitchen. They also have a nice little bar area if you wish to grab a local drink The food: HEAVEN has spoken!!! you may enter to eat this heavenly food. I chose the pumpkin waffle with toasted pumpkin seeds along with maple syrup paired with chicken livers and shiitake mushrooms!!! Holy cow was it good and the portion was more than I could eat. Check out the pic I posted up Again bravo to this establishment you will be seeing me soon!!!

Vegetarians — don’t let the name fool ya — there are options for you here — oh yes there are! We stopped in here during our trip to Ashville for the weekend for breakfast since it was walking distance from our awesome Airbnb pad. The interior was so delightful and all the staff had smiles on their faces. We opted to sit outside since the weather was perfect. Our waitress, Missy I think was her name, was splendid! She was friendly, on the ball and super helpful with recommendations for where to get guide books and where to hike. I’d totally make her my friend if I lived there! As for the food, we opted for the veggie scramble with a half order of vegetarian biscuits and gravy. I also got coffee and a Bloody Mary. The coffee was really good which was nice, because I hate a crappy cup ‘o Joe and the Mary was made in house with lots of fresh horseradish so it was nice and zesty, oh yeah! The biscuits and gravy were such a nice treat being as you can rarely find vegetarian ones, so I enjoyed every last bit of those babies. As for the scramble it was fine, but lacked a bit of seasoning. Overall I enjoyed our breakfast here and I would come back!
