K-9 Klips of Asheville, Inc

I'm writing today to share an experience with K-9 Klips. I am a retired Disabled Vet with an emotional support dog who rescued me while he was making his way from a kill shelter in GA to NY where he found me 4 years ago. Moved to Asheville last year and have been using K-9 Klips for his grooming once per month. I made sure to explain that "Buddy Love" (my dogs name) is with me 98% of the time and he does not like being in a cage of any kind. I live 5 minutes up the road so it's not a problem to pick him up immediately. I called yesterday evening and left a message asking if they had any cancellations and if not, I would like to make an appt for Buddy to have his regular bath and nails clipped. I was called this morning 08:45 by the Older Gentleman and set an appt for 09:00. I returned home to wait as grooming usually takes an hour. After an hour and a half, I felt to just go to the groomers and not wait for the call. Upon arrival, I was met with a very frustrated and angry tone that my dog won't stop barking and it bothers the other dogs. (?!) He was rude. I asked him why he didn't call me as Buddy doesn't like cages and is never confined, ever. I have a new cell which he called me on this morning but erased and couldn't call me after. I informed him that Buddy, never barks unless its to alert me or when he is in a cage! Which is why I left the instructions from the first visit. -The second issue is that each time I've brought Buddy to K-9 Klips, they act as if it's my first time there, like they've never seen me before and collect the same info on my dog each time. I am 54, African American, with an all black dog, driving an all Black Durango arriving up front every month for almost a year. I know full well that there aren't many who resemble me around and as much as I don't like to think that I'm being unfairly treated due to my ethnicity, there have been far too many times where I have given the benefit of doubt to only have it turn out to be plain old fashioned racism. I can't always prove it but the feelings are the same. I will not take my dog back there and will make it business to alert anyone who asks for a reference, to go elsewhere. I brought my quirky older dog here and was worried because in the past, I always arrive to a frustrated groomer. Not this time! Carol could not have been kinder, calmer, and my dog Kiko left happy, calm and looks and smells great. She even trimmed his nails, which usually I pay a vet to handle that task.
I have nothing but praise for K-​9 Klips!!!

I took my extremely shaggy and nervous schnauzer mix to K-​9 Klips on the recommendation of my brother and my mom, who are both regulars there. I couldn’t be more pleased! My dog was freaking out as soon as he got to the door (he smelled and heard the other dogs), so I knew he was going to be a handful. Perhaps he was a bit ill-​tempered, but they didn’t seem to mind at K-​9 Klips. he ended up with a nice bath, a gorgeous close trim, a handsome beard, and nicely filed nails – all for just 40 buck. Will definitely be going back.

I have to admit it, I love businesses with alliterated names. Although the exterior of K-​9 Klips isn’t much to speak of, the work they do is just great.
I had a chance to drop off our Matlipoo, Tucker, here yesterday. Checking him in was a breeze, and Carol, who I assume owns the shop came out to take him from me. Tucker was nervous, and visibly shaking, but Carol was gentle, loving, and sweet. She took the time to hold him and calm him before taking him into the grooming area.
I returned three hours later to an extremely handsome pup. My wife and I have been looking for a regular groomer for Tucker for quite some time. We’ve been bouncing through other local shops and larger chains, and this is the first one where I feel like the shop took care of him in the best manner. His coat is trimmed extremely well, and they seem so gentle and pleasant.
Price for grooming and nails was $ 40. Quite reasonable.
I think that this is the beginning of a long and lasting relationship between K-​9 Klips and our handsome Tucker.

At K-​9 Clips, my Bichon, Sam, just had his first grooming. In the nine years he has been with me, it’s the best he’s ever had. The lovely people at K-​9 Clips did the most beautiful job and brought out Sam’s real beauty. What a great place. Thank you, K-​9 Clips! You are our BGFs!

We have brought both of our springer spaniels to k 9 clips for either summer clips or regular spaniel clips, depending on season. They do a great job in trimming them up and our dogs never resist going there. Nothing fancy, but they do a fine job on what we brought the dogs to them for– good haircuts.

We started taking Tucker to K-​9 when we moved here 3 years ago. The staff is attentive, they listened to us (Tucker’s a mixed breed with a retriever like coat. We like the feathering and they were able to trim him to look his best). They are sometimes fairly busy… but are accommodating. They’ll also clips nails on a drop in basis which is great if you don’t plan ahead like I do. If you’re toward the North Asheville area, I’d check them out. Reasonably priced too.
