This is an excellent Chinese buffet with a wide range of choices. The food was all freshly prepared and everything I had was delicious. It is true that there are no paintings on the walls, however I went there for good food and not to see an art exhibit. We went at lunch time and the buffet was $ 8. I only come to Asheville about once a month, but me and my girl have decided that we are coming here every single time we come to Asheville.

I have no idea why I keep going back here. First let me say that they are called the China Buffet for a reason. At least 95% of their customers are there for the buffet. In fact, now that I think about it I have never seen anyone who eats inside order off the menu. The attraction is the volumes of food on the buffet and grill. Anyone who orders at the front counter when they first come in are screwing themselves. All the kid who sits up front does is take containers back to the buffet and takes the food off the buffet, cold, hot, or plain nasty looking and this your special prepared meal. There is a very easy way around this that we use all the time. They have containers that you take back to the buffet and fill yourselves. You pay by the pound. Some nights the ribs have more meat on them than you have ever seen. Load up on them. Other night’s you are just buying heavy bone’s. Save your money for better stuff. Always get a plate off of the grill. Absolutely the best food there. Like most Chinese restaurants in Asheville the food leaves a lot to be desired. The only reason I gave them 3 stars is because of the grill.

The new peanut butter chicken is so yummy. My husband and I loved it. This place is a smaller buffet but everything seemed fresh and not dried out. Waitress did keep our plates cleaned off fairly quickly but I definitely needed a drink refill but all I had to do was ask. I wish they had some bean curd or tofu on the bar. This place was fairly empty on a Fri night at 8. They also had a coupon out to save a couple bucks which was nice. My hubby said the sushi was great. We didn’t try the hibachi items. They have hand scooped real ice-cream here which we really like. Definitely returning soon

A great choice if you want food poisoning. The chicken I had off the hibachi grill today was completely raw inside. I checked before I tasted, since the guy only grilled it for about 2 minutes. When I pointed out to the waitress that someone should ask him to cook the chicken a little longer, she responded, «Next time, order well done,» and walked away. Sorry. I shouldn’t have to specify well done chicken to get it cooked through. The rest of the buffet food is gross. Nothing tastes fresh. Even the«if all else fails» sweet & sour chicken was funky — both batter and sauce. And I wouldn’t order takeout from there either. I’ve watched them come out of the kitchen to make take out orders using the old buffet items. Yuck. Today was my last visit here. I’m honestly baffled by the 4 and 5-star reviews. Baffled.

Good food, but for a place open until 11pm in Friday, none of the lines were ever refilled after nine.

Not the worst but definitely not the best. Big selection and reasonable price. I didn’t like several of the main dishes. I’ll try another restaurant before going back.

Great buffet food Chinese /American style. Reasonable price. Easy ‘take-out’ ! Quality is consistently good! I eat there twice a week!

I’ve eaten here 3 – 4 times. Each time I walk away, saying«NEVERAGAIN». Bland, overcooked, over fried, over steamed, OLDFOOD. Yesterday was my last. I got their early for lunch, assuming since they just opened the food would be fresher than my last visit. UGH. Green beans were super shriveled, obviously left over from the day before or more! Honey chicken was so dried out, it had to have been from the day before. And the noodle salad had absolutely no flavor. On top of that, the«service» is terrible. They sat me in front of the area where the waitress dumps the left over food into buckets. The waitress dropped a plate in the tub, and food splashed onto my table. If that wasn’t enough, I wanted chopsticks, and the two waitresses sat down, enjoying their lunch, watching me while I walked up to the counter, and back again, and then all around looking for sticks. Seriously people… go to Asiana.

Best general tso(Sp?) in Asheville. If you ask for it extra spicy they actually make it HOT. Plenty of garlic and spice. The chicken has just the right crispyness to it as well… you can tell its fresh. Did I forget to mention you get TUPPERWARE as a to-go box? This is just icing on the cake. Love this place.

I’ve only ever ordered to-go and the food is good, it’s exactly what you want when you’re craving Chinese takeout.

Worse food ever. Had to wait 3 minutes just for someone to see me and seat me. The décor is bad needs something on the walls and ceiling. Please get rid of the color lights, they almost have me a seizure. The food was terrible. Back home I have a favorite buffet and normally make 7 or 8 trips to the buffet but here I only made it twice. No flavor old food. The service was terrible to. Could not get a refill until I was past empty, then the staff started to sweep right under my table, talk about gross, that’s when I got up and left. I did not even get a check, I paid up front and got the hell out of there.

The food was really good and they had a lot of options, even a few for those who don’t like Chinese food. The honey chicken and sesame chicken were especially good. The place was very clean and the staff were very friendly. I definitely plan to go back.

In comparison to other Chinese restaurants in Asheville(Oriental Pavilion, China Wok, Metro, Asian on the Go) China Buffet is pretty good. Our takeout order was ready within ten minutes or so and the food was hot, crunchy, and flavorful. Having any of those traits would automatically push it to the upper class of American-Chinese food in Asheville, and having all three makes it the best I’ve found so far. I’ll have to order there a few more times to see if it’s consistent, but so far so good.

Pass this one bye! No taste food with too much oil. Best thing on the buffet was the fresh fruit.
