History
Established in 2002.
Geoffrey Bullock, LCSW first began his counseling career in 1974. After working for several years in a local mental health center during the 1980’s, he began offering private counseling services in the Asheville area in 1992.
His private practice was initially known as Bullock Counseling and Consultation and offered counseling for adolescents, couples, and provided specialized groups for men in midlife. An additional special area of practice included counseling with teens and young adults with Aspeger’s syndrome (now ASD).
Beginning in 2002 the practice was redirected to predominantly serve couples. Renamed Asheville Marriage Counseling, we assist couples in developing practical and reliable means to support the foundation of their relationship, resolve challenges in a collaborative manner, and ways to enhance the connection and intimacy in their relationships.

During the 1980’s I spent 8 years working at a local Community Mental Health Center in Hendersonville, before starting a private practice in 1992 to offer counseling in Asheville, NC.
For the past two decades my private practice has allowed me to provide individual and couple’s counseling, as well counseling and clinical supervision at therapeutic schools, support for parents, and some consulting opportunities. As a consultant I’ve helped design specialized programs serving at risk adolescents and provided guidance to ‘husband and wife’ small businesses.
After 30 years of counseling and aware I was approaching the later stages of my career, I decided to return to my greatest professional passion, which is supporting couples in developing solid, connected, and mutually enriching relationships. So, I began to redirect my private practice to (almost) exclusively providing counseling and guidance to married and committed couples through Asheville Marriage Counseling.
