We love this brewery. First time we were here they had our favorite alcoholic kombucha from high vibration. This time no, but still a few ciders for the wheat/hop/gluten intolerant. God vibes, lotsa doggies, we love it. We were here for about three hours and a band showed up. When my boyfriend went to get a drink, a new dude at the door made my boyfriend sign in. When I got up to go to the bathroom, he truest charge me a $ 6 cover. I was basically like what? And walked away. He tried the same, only to me, when we got up to pay our tab. If this happens to you just do the same. It was weird.

Turn the sound down! It’s a small place. Don’t blast our ears. If you e in charge of sound then know what you are doing.

My girlfriend and I stopped into Altamont Brewing and can’t recommend this place enough! What it lacks in pretention it makes up for in quality drinks and engaging, knowledgeable staff. My gf enjoyed the alcoholic ginger beer and I had a flight of ipa’s. Big shout out to Kilby for pointing me in the right direction! Every beer was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the brewing process and the back stories behind the beers. I think this will be among my first stops every Asheville trip going forward.

We stopped in here since we are staying at an Airbnb nearby. Thought it looked cool and inviting. While the space seemed cool, the beer was less than desirable. We were very disappointed in the beer, and after one, decided to move on!

Amazing beer for sure, bartender was very knowledgable and kind. The food and music really topped it off for me. Sad I was just passing through town and can’t become a regular.

I love this place. It’s a super chill neighborhood bar/brewery. They recently started serving food and it’s DELICIOUS!!! We got the veggie burger with fries and pork sandwich and mac and cheese. Both were full of flavor! So so happy they’re serving food now. The pizza is great too– our bartender shared a slice of the pizza he had for himself! Very nice. The bartenders are really cool and the seating is good. They have live music sometimes and also games to play. Having a bad day? Go get a fantastic Altamont beer and play a game of ping pong!

*** OUTSTANDINGSERVICE.*** The only reason this place doesn’t have 5 stars is because one guy messed up. We came in as apart of a brewery bus tour, and it was incredible. The problem with a tour is that 40 people overload your bar, and they only have 20 – 30 minutes to stay. We ordered two beers, and two apps. Unfortunately, the bartender forgot to put in the apps. Five minutes before it was time to leave, the bartender told us that he had forgot to put our food in. As a result, he refunded our entire transaction. 2 beers + 2 apps. As I was leaving, he hands me one of our apps in a to-go container. Standard procedure. However, as our tour bus was about to pull out, he runs to the bus and hands the other app(Mac and cheese — which was delish) through the bus window. Not only did I get everything I ordered(albeit late), but it was free of charge — because it was late. This is a restaurant that valued customer service. I will never forget the service I received, despite the initial order. *** Amending this to 5 stars. The same eockstar bar tender that negated this entire situation, just recognized me, and pulled me through the«mandatory cover» to get me back on not the bar. Incredible service.

So pumped about the restaurant opening! Everything on the ever changing menu has been phenomenal! They really hit the nail on the head with this one! Try the potato wedges! And the beer cheese! And… well, really. Just try everything. Oh. And the beer is really good as well.

Dog owner beer drinker heaven! This is the first(and only) place where we could bring our dog inside with us. Also, great beers brewed here on tap, AND great beers brewed elsewhere in bottles, plus scotch & bourbon. Finally, an awesome space — open, airy, not too loud so you don’t feel like you have to shout to compete with other people or music, and a ping pong table for use!

Every time we go here the beer is great the people are friendly and they have a full bar if you go with a non beer lover. Plus dogs can be inside and outside.

This was the first stop on our Asheville Brews Cruise. When you first walk in, the smell of stale cigarettes, weed and mold is overwhelming. No one was smoking in the brewery, so I can only assume it’s leftover from employees who smoke while closing the place down. A customer brought their dog inside, which I think is a little un kosher. I actually noticed this at a few different places in Asheville so maybe it’s acceptable there. I don’t know. ***Kipper S. sent me a kind and informative message to let me know that it is A-okay to bring dogs in bars in Asheville that don’t serve food. That’s good info to know for out-of-towners and dog lovers! ;-) The women’s bathroom was disgusting! I won’t go into great detail but what came floating up out of the toilet when I tried to flush it made me gag. This place has some pretty delicious brews, and they have a full bar and cocktail menu. For that I give it an extra star above 1, but I wouldn’t come back here again.

Altamont. Hmmm… So I really wanted to like you. Kind of like a blind date that started out well, and then I find out you have a dog and a kid you failed to mention. Okay, so read a bit further. Maybe 6 parking spaces out front. Love the brightly colored sign; nice graphics! Taps straight ahead and vats to the left. Fairly large tasting room. So far, so good. The ESB and IPA were both good. There are plenty of guest Taps with some great selections from Hi-Wire and Wicked Weed and plenty of bottled and canned in large coolers under the bar. Liquor is also served(you must sign in as a member with a membership card, or as a guest). I saw a very odd cocktail being made — a Bloody Mary/Beer hybrid with Sriracha in it. Hmmm… What’s that smell? Wet dog. Not just one but three. One yapping and bumping into my leg trying to get to another dog. Not one but at least five or six children running around. A mom throwing fruit snacks into a kids mouth. Okay, so I don’t mind busy, but feeling stressed out in a brewery is not my idea of enjoyment. Hmmm… So, if you like a brewery that is child and dog friendly, this is your place. If you are allergic to dogs like I am and want to drink beer in peace, then this is not your place.

Altamont doesn’t get the respect it deserves. This lovely little brewery isn’t located in the Asheville downtown/south slope brewery mecca, it’s on the far side of Haywood, closer to Patton past where all the fun Haywood walkable stuff is. Most people rarely make it past Odd’s Café, but if you’re up for a walk or a quick drive I assure you visiting this place is worth it. Altamont feels like a place that was opened to make someone’s dream come true. A dream like, «What if we open a brewery, brew kick ass beers, but also offer awesome beers from different breweries from around the country, while simultaneously curating an impressive selection of Scotch and Bourbon?» I had a chance to visit the other night and I was truly impressed by how cozy this place felt. It’s vast, open, feels like an old mechanic’s garage that was converted into a brewery. There’s a ping pong table, a large stage, a long bar, and a few tables peppered throughout the space. From what I understand, up until a couple of months ago when you ordered a beer brewed by the Altamont you were getting it straight from the tank, there were no kegs involved. Word is this has changed, but their beers are still noticeably bright and fresh. On the night of our visit they had 5 of their own brews on tap, and the rest were devoted to awesome beers from across the county. Mentioning awesome beers, not only does the Altamont share space with other breweries on the tap side of things, they also curate a beautiful selection of bottled beer from around the world. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a bottle of Stone’s recently discontinued Sublimely Self Righteous Ale, which is an all time favorite of mine. The Altamont also plays host to works of art from the Open Hearts Art Center, an incredible organization that provides art therapy for people with mental and physical challenges. In order to raise funds for the organization you can purchase works of art made by people from Open Hearts. My wife and I fell in love with a painting of a collie done by Suzie Q, and bought it on the spot. There was also this awesome centaur painted by someone named Merlin, but it was out of our price range. The art rotates on a monthly basis, so we have a monthly reason to come back to the Altamont. This place is EXTREMELY dog friendly. Friendly to the point where you may find an entourage of furry friends waiting to greet you at the front door. However, if you have an aversion to dogs I would recommend being cautious.

I love the Altamont! Booze, great beers, and cornhole. What else could you want? It’s a NC membership club(lame liquor laws) but for $ 1 a year you can enjoy the finest dog friendly bar in West Asheville. Oh, and they brew amazing beers as well as having a great local selection.

I’m writing this review more about the weekly open mic night than the beer… I went to play the open mic and was very disappointed. The host was standoffish and at times openly rude to me. The sound guy was clueless. The room itself was so loud that it was a struggle to even hear myself. I’m a good musician who is regularly received well wherever I play, but playing this open mic was an exercise in futility. Don’t subject yourself to it. In other news, the beer is actually pretty good.

Great bar. It’s just a straight forward brewery and beer joint. But the house brews will knock you on your ass so be careful. I take my dog there all the time, they are super easy going about pets. I’d give it five stars except for the lack of quality bartenders. More than once I’ll be sitting alone at the bar waiting for friends. They barely say a word except to take a drink order. A good bartender will chat you up and make you feel welcome. The girls are worse. Oh, but kudos to the indoor bike racks!

I stopped in for the Chris O’Neill Jam on a Saturday night and had a great time listening to the music and having a few drinks. The space itself is open and relaxed, but with not a lot of seating(the only complaint I’d have with the place, really). Some serious ping-pong competition was underway at the back of the room this night, the foosball table was in constant use, and folks of all ages seemed to be wandering in from the neighborhood with their dogs, kids, bikes – you name it. Really had a friendly, neighborly vibe that I enjoyed.

Asheville’s newest brewery is also one of its more entertaining. While on the Brews Cruise, we were able to be among the first to sample some of their offerings. The beer was tasty, but admittedly it was at the end of the tour so I can’t tell you much about what I had. The space itself was very cool. Spacious and open, with foos ball and cornhall to be played, this could definitely be a great bar just by itself. Makes me wish Cincinnati had a similar venue.

Love Love LOVE this place. We went in the middle of the day on a Saturday, and in the evening on a Sunday. Both times there were only a few people there, and we had our choice of places to sit. On Saturday we sat at the bar(with our 2 year old niece — she drank water), and on Sunday we sat outside. The beers were delicious, and the selection of bourbon was amazing. We thought the bartenders were great, and this will be a go to when we’re visiting Asheville.

You know how sometimes you sit around with your buddies and talk about opening a bar? If you’re like me, the conversation goes something like this, «it will be great. We’ll put good beer on draft, have a bunch of games, put some kayaks, bikes, and skis around and invite all of our friends. It won’t even have to be that nice – hell, we can put it in a garage for all I care. Eventually, we’ll even have our own stuff on draft,» Turns out someone actually followed through with that plan. The Altamont is a laid-back bar located in an old garage in West Asheville with a decent draft selection and a bunch of outdoor gear around. There’s even a disc golf basket in the middle of the place in case it wasn’t W. Asheville enough to start with. They’ve got the beginnings of a small brewing system but right now it looks like one fermenter and a few bright tanks, but not much else. The bartender said they’d be up and running in March and if that’s true, I’ll be sure to review again after I’ve tried the beer.
