The Home Depot

A good judge of a business is how it handles adversity. When things are smooth and rocking along, it’s all easy. But when things go South, that’s what separates good customer service from bad.
Today, The Home Depot failed. The entire register system was down, credit and debit cards were all being declined. People were very upset.
My cashier remarked «it was a lot worse earlier», not really a help. I caught Manager Ted, who was running from cashier to cashier without helping much. When asked when the system was going to back up, he said «I think it’s coming up now». When I told him I was going to Lowe’s he said «okay». Well, it’s 10 minutes further for me, but Lowe’s it is from now on !

The worst home depot I have ever been. The worst staff and managers. Go to the one in leesburg

They have the inventory but I wish they had some service to go with it people are always acting like you’re too busy to help tou. It’s clean but it lacks servic3.

Went in today to buy a grill, was blown away by the customer service that David provided. He was knowledgable, honest, and went above and beyond to help me. I left with a brand new already assembled grill and propane tank, I will be grilling in the New Years!!! Ok I know that was cheesy but how often does something like this really happen?!? I didn’t have to assemble the grill or left a finger, he loaded it in my car and was super nice through out the process.

Installers for Appliances are complete idiots. Save yourself the headache and install yourself or buy somewhere else!

Went to purchase filters this evening and found exactly the 2 three paks I needed at a great price. Went to pay at the register and only one lane open with 3 people waiting with full carts ahead of me. Went over to self pay as nobody there except for 2 employees chatting. Had trouble with scanner and finally frustrated I gave up as 2 employees just watched and offered no assistance. Finally I handed them my purchase and said «I don’t want these»
And left store.
Drove out of my way to Lowes and made purchase.

I usually only review restaurants, but this is for their specialty items… i.e. carpets, tile, windows, and Kitchens.
Let’s just say I DO NOT recommend using Home Depot for these services. First, they charge you a fee and their subcontractors are beyond shady and overcharge every job! They never disclose the minimum charges until you invested months into this process. I have a bad taste from this place!

Usually, Home Depot is my go-​to spot for anything regarding home improvement. I have had many jobs done through them, in Florida and now here in Va. This last experience was, by far, the worst.
Went there to purchase 200 square feet of ceramic tile flooring and have it installed. The woman who sold me the tile was very friendly and helpful, and assured me that, although the style I had picked had been discontinued, there was still plenty of tile left for our small job.
I purchased the tile and set up the measurement. Everything went fine until it was time to have the tile delivered. It seemed that no one in the flooring dept. ever communicated with anyone else. One person called, on the wrong phone number, to let me know they were getting the tile ready to be delivered. I didn’t get the message until the next day, and then was unable to reach the person who had called. Others did not seem to know what was going on. Finally, on Tuesday, (the tile was to be delivered on Weds), we found out that they might not even have the tile at the store. Then, they said they did have it, but that theinstaller would need to pick it up in the morning (not in the agreement). The installer, who was wonderful, agreed to do so, but, upon getting to HD, found that the tile was from several different dye lots, so couldn’t be used. My roommate had taken the day off for this installation, which was now postponed until the next day. They finally located more tile at another store, and the job had to be done on Friday and Saturday, which was a huge inconvenience for our installers.
In short, while the outcome was excellent, the hassles and inconveniences made this a very unpleasant experience.
HD has said they will work out some sort of deal to make up for the problems, but, as yet, this hasn’t occurred.
I hope that this store (at least the flooring dept.) gets their act together soon.

Home Depots are all about timing.
If you get there when they aren’t busy and the good folks are on staff… its a DIY’ers dream.
I lucked out today picking up some stuff for my friend.
The guy in electrical is definitely and electrician and that helped tremendously.
Surprisingly the returns line was quick and the cashier was very pleasant.
Just missed 5+ stars because I didn’t get coffee and a donut!!!

FLOORING DEPT — Adam Harmon is TOP-​NOTCH! I was very fortunate to run into Adam for assistance on my carpet and tile project. I can’t say enough… do yourself a favor and ask for Adam.

Simple return of Jack stands, just didn’t like them and home depot was great about taking them back without a receipt.

I met only two helpful employees in this Home depot over a 4 year period. One person is from Grill section and another is lumber/​tools section.
Had the worst experience with this store employees in Blinds section.
They made mistake after mistake and took 2.5 months to do my blinds for a condo.
Very rude and very incompetent. They argued with me that they called my for appointment when there was no VM or missed call at the number. The guy who does the installation added extra charge for mason where the next guy said there is not mason. They shipped my blinds to my old home even though i wanted them at the new home/​pickup from HD. They send the installation person to my old home where as installation was needed at new home.
I will keep going to this HD for very small things as it is closer to my home and there is nothing else in Ashburn, but for my main home needs i will go to Lows in Sterling.

Finally moved back to VA after a 2yr stint in NJ for my job. I was happy to discover the large Home Depot in Ashburn which rents trucks — unfortunately my elation was short-​lived. My husband and I had just spent a very long weekend moving and needed a small van last minute to pick-​up some locally purchased furniture, we called the Ashburn HD and specifically asked for a rental van to move furniture — they guy at HD said he had 2 for rent. We drove in the snow, sleet and rain from Leesburg to Ashburn to pick up one of the trucks — this was only 30mins after we called. Much to our dismay upon arrival he said they would only rent open flatbed trucks — none of the closed trucks were available to us for even for an hour. The guy was extremely rude in person and basically told us tough luck. He did not even offer to call around to the Sterling HD or any other HD location to assist us in locating another van last minute, which he should have done especially given the fact that he said he had an appropriate truck to rent only half an hour before. Is this the customer service that Home Depot teaches its employees? If so — NO THANKS!
We highly recommend Parrots Towing in Leesburg for truck rentals — we have used them a couple of times for one-​way rentals during our NJ-​to-​VA move and will now also call them even last minute when we need a local van or truck rental.
Suggestion for Home Depot — train ALL of your employees on customer service — being rude to customers, even if it is in the heavy equipment/​truck rental department, is not a winning business approach and it WILL impact your bottom line.

This is my favorite Home Depot. I am always asked if I need help and it usually begins when I first enter and continues whenever I’m starring at merchandise trying to figur out what to buy. I also like that the store is never over crowded like some in fairfax county,

I’m actually undecided as to whether my overall rating should be a 3.5 stars or 4 stars.
There are a few things that I like about this Home Depot, which is the reason I continue to come back whenever I need to buy any sort of household item.
The first thing is that, this place is fairly close to where I live. I mean who wants to drive out of their way if they don’t need or have too.
The second thing is that, this place is never really over saturated with people (with the exception of the summer season, and it is typically the garden section that has massive amount of people) when I come here. Because of that I can normally be in and out within 20 — 30 minutes maybe even less (of course this depends on the number of items I need to buy and how quickly I can find them).
The last reason is that, I pretty much always find what I’m looking for when I come here and I haven’t been let down yet (you can’t see it but I just knocked on wood and my fingers were crossed as I said that… lol).
One of the things that I don’t like is that sometimes it can be a bit of a hassle trying to locate an employee to assist you in finding, explaining, or suggesting the right product you should purchase (sometimes there are multiple brands for one product). I guess my advice for future shoppers is to do a little research on your own for any product you are looking to purchase because the employee you happen find to help you may not have the knowledge you need to determine which product is best for you.
Outside of that I’m pretty pleased with this Home Depot. And I guess after typing this up and reading it over I think I’ve decided to stick with the 4 star rating for now but who knows that could change based on my experiences in future visits. However, as for now I will most definitely continue to shop at this Home Depot.

There’s nothing more frustrating than needing help and not getting any. The person in the appliance area, John, wouldn’t even bother to get up out of his chair or even look up to acknowledge me. Maybe because I’m black and a woman, I don’t know. The only person that could help was on break, of course. The manager, Larry, was called but was not helpful and his purpose as a manage should be questioned. I would like to thank MD who did at least put forth some effort to find someone. You’d be better off going to Lowes.

I wanted to commend a specific employee for excellent customer service at this store. Bobby, in Lawn and Garden, took my call on Saturday morning regarding a patio chair that we had bought online that would not fit together. I have to admit I probably wasn’t the most pleasant person to speak with and started to get pretty frustrated. He told me to bring the chair in and we would figure it out. I was expecting disaster. Within 10 minutes, we were in and out with a chair that fit together. He deserves credit for his handling of the situation and knowing how to keep his customers happy and coming back. Thanks Bobby!

This Home Depot is the closest home hardware/​DIY warehouse type of store to Ashburn, so it was pretty easy to sucker us into it. The first time we went, we were overwhelmed by the number of employees available to answer questions. However, over the next six months, we realized something…
… It doesn’t really matter how many bodies you have on the floor if they can’t answer questions and you don’t stock half the things on my shopping list. Each trip here ends with disappointment after being directed to the wrong aisle for a product, only to realize the store doesn’t carry it.
According to a few employees, this is considered a ‘smaller’ Home Depot and, thus, does not have the wide array of stock you might expect from a Home Depot. It’s incredibly frustrating to leave here empty handed.
In the future, I think we’ll just stuck it up and start at the Lowe’s near Dulles Town Center. We were going to end up there anyway… might as well cut out the step in the middle that is the Ashburn Home Depot.

This is one of the best Home Depot stores I’ve been. Never too busy and its not hard to find someone to help you out.

It’s taken me a while to get used to this Home Depot. We move every few years thanks to the Navy, so I’ve lived in many different places and visited many different Home Depot locations.
THIS Home Depot for some odd reason is laid out totally differently than any other Home Depot I’ve visited from here to Hawaii. It drove me nuts at first, and I would drive the extra distance to Leesburg or Sterling because I would be able to find things quicker. Over time though, I have needed to make a quick trip here and there and gone to the Ashburn Home Depot because it’s closest, and it has grown on me. I feel like I can find things there now.
Service-​wise, I go to this Home Depot on a regular basis and I am always pleased with the service I receive. I have never had difficulty finding someone to help me, and they’ve always found what I needed in quick order.
I can relate to a previous comment about limited selection though. In most cases, I can find what I need, but in certain categories of things, I have had to travel the extra distance to Leesburg or Sterling to find what I was looking for.
Kudos to Home Depot for offering a military discount! I appreciate it!
