Went there for an anniversary dinner. The service was quick and the experience was exactly as expected. I ordered the chicken and shrimp combo hibachi which was cooked in front of me with the usual tricks from the chef. The food tasted great and I would go back there again.

I have been coming here for years. Tonight my boyfriend and I went on a double date with friends of ours. We arrived at 8:55(they close at 10). From the moment we sat down we felt rushed. The hibachi chef was in training(so I’ll cut him some slack) but my scallops were terribly overcooked and my chicken was dry. He didn’t put on much of a show either, granted he was still getting the hang of things. When it came to getting the checks, the guys paid with cash and told them to keep the change. Another server returned our friend’s check to the table and told him that he had not left enough of a tip for spending almost $ 70. She said how it wasn’t fair and insisted that he tipped more and would not leave our table until he placed more cash onto the change that she had returned to him. What wasn’t fair is how we were treated from the moment we walked in those doors. As someone who has worked in the restaurant business, I understand that these people do live off of tips. HOWEVER, a good tip is to be earned with good service and a good experience, which we were not given. I am extremely disappointed with the behavior of the employees and my overall experience. I don’t plan on rushing back to one of my «favorite» spots anytime soon.

Pros: The chef was fun Cons: 1. The scallops were VERY salty… not sure what was going on there but they were gross. Way too much $ for the quality of seafood I got with my meal($ 38 for the seafood mix — salty scallops, shrimp and a lobster tail that got mixed with some of the shrimp and given to others) 2. After our meal we were chatting for 5 minutes(because our meal was so quick) and after we left our tip, one of the employees asked us to ‘please leave now so we can seat other guests’. The entire meal was rushed. We were in and out in 30 minutes and then forced out. I will not return to this location for this reason. Completely unacceptable to rush guests and THEN ask them to leave. 3. Most other hibachi places provide noodles with their meals. This place did not. Less food. More expensive. So all and all for the rushed experience, sub par food, and cost this place is not worth it. Find another hibachi spot. Definitely don’t go here with friends if you want to have a night out. you’ll be forced through the entire experience in lightening speed.

The food is very good… really 5 star but the family that owns this place is really cheap. We have been going here since they opened and have had several instances of poor business practices. They will not let you bring a cake unless you pay a per plate charge… really how cheap can you be. We walked down to Starbucks where they were more then happy to let us have our birthday cake. Once my daughter had alcohol splashed in her eye and they were not helpful at all. They will celebrate your birthday if you are willing to purchase a birthday dessert. They are very lucky their food is so good otherwise they would not have been in business long. Just a shame they don’t practice better customer service.

Just cancelled a reservation for a birthday celebration with 11 people. Why? Because they told me they would charge me $ 2.00 per person if I brought my own cake. I’m not paying them to serve a cake that I paid to make. Especially when I’m perfectly capable of cutting it and serving of myself. The food is good here. It’s my favorite Japanese steakhouse. Unfortunately, this policy left a really bad taste in my mouth so I’ll have to get my hibachi elsewhere.

My family went here for the first time recently. It was just on a whim and based on Unilocal reviews that we decided on this restaurant. We’ve been to Japanese Steak Houses plenty of times before so we knew what to expect. The service was good. The place was extremely busy but they were able to put us(3) in with the very next table so we were very grateful. The menu was as per usual. The reason I say this place is A-OK is b/c the portions were much smaller in comparison and they charge an additional fee for the fried/steamed rice that goes with your meal. My combo meal was over $ 35 so I was very surprised to see on my bill that I was charged an extra $ 2.50 for fried rice. We were happy to experience a new restaurant but will continue to go to our restaurant of choice for this type of food.

We’ve eaten in a number of Japanese resturants around the country over the years. Food here was typically Japanese and tasty but overly salty based on our other Japanese experiences. When I mentioned it was our anniversary dinner, I got a «deer in the headlights» look and a similar verbal response. Most notable to me(at 6’3″ height) were the tight tables where my knees knocked against the table underside. There was no place to hang our winter coats or hat. Prices were ok but I prefer not having to pay extra for brown rice. Service was«extremely average» but adequate. We think we likely won’t go back here despite the geographic convenience for us.

I’ve been there twice and it was like night and day between the first and second visits, which were less than a month apart. The first time was great, we had great service and the hibachi chef was funny and his food was wonderful. But the second time was completely awful. The chef didn’t even talk to us besides asking how we wanted our meat cooked. He didn’t do any sort of «show,» no onion volcano, no rice heart, NOTHING. I wouldn’t have really cared about that part missing if the food had been better. Everything was bland, overcooked and the portions were ridiculously small. I ordered filet and chicken and had about four small bites of steak and maybe five bites of chicken. It was a total ripoff. When we went to pay, we wanted to use a visa gift card and they acted like we were criminals. They asked how much was on the card, I told them what I thought was on it, but I didn’t know for sure. A minute later, some rude woman comes trotting over to tell me that the card only has $ 30 on it and throws it down onto the table like we were paying with fake $ 100 bills or something. I wouldn’t go back there if someone paid me to do it. An overall terrible experience.

The food is delicious! I had the Filet Mignon which was tender and juicy. What the servers lacked in friendliness, the chef made up with his jokes. I approached the manager about having a company event here. She couldn’t have cared less. They must be doing really well in order to be able to turn down a party of 50.

We really enjoyed our experience with the extra added bonus that it was homecoming night, so it was like two shows in one. The experience is exactly what you should expect for a Japanese steak house. You order your protein combination for somewhere between $ 20 and $ 30, they bring you soup, salad, and then the chef comes out and prepares it all. While it is pricey, you’re getting a ton of food(you’ll definitely go home with leftovers), and you get a great show. They had a nice Saki menu, too, and drinks were reasonably priced. Great place for a special occasion or just a different experience than a traditional restaurant.

Yum! I’ve been eating here since it first opened around 15 years ago. They do a great teppanyaki(hibachi) service. I always get the hibachi steak, which is terrific. The fried rice is an absolute must. The portions are very generous. The cooks, especially Jay, are hugely entertaining. Great place for birthday dinners and such. The sushi is also quite good, very fresh and decent portions.

Omg my first time I’ve been to a hibachi style steakhouse was at Nagoya Japanese steak and seafood. It’s the best place to go for first timers like me. They have great service the chefs are amazing and the food is too. At first the prices were a little pricey but the service and the food made up for it. The chefs do cool tricks with knives and is very entertaining. It’s fun for a family night out. I highly recommend you go here.

Great food, amazing hibachi and no place around beats the spicy California rolls. Steak is always cooked right and the staff is friendly.

Love eating here. I usually sit at the bar. Always lots of fun with a small group. Service is really good the several times I’ve been there. Reasonable prices for sushi. Haven’t been to the other section in the restaurant but the people I see eating there are always having a fun time.

This place has the best steaks and shrimps in Ashburn. I have been to different places and I like this place the best. The bill came out a little bit pricey but it was worth the food.

They made us wait 45 minutes before they started our meal. They added another party to our table inappropriately late. We were hungry. I talked to the manager and she made no attempt to change the situation.

Tonight is the second time I’ve left this place with out eating! Last Friday I was told they do not take reservations for smaller parties, there were four in my party. Tonight I was told that my choices were to cram in between two families who’d clearly spread themselves out or wait 45 min. The owner said she could care less if I left. Clearly she doesn’t need my business. So I left and will not be returning or recommending.

Summary: OVERPRICED and NO surprises. The tofu appetizer was good. Hibachi was on par. Rolls were just fine. Sushi was not done in the authentic way. For example, salmon was thin and was not cut correctly. HOWEVER, it is well OVERPRICED compared to all other Japanese restaurants that I have been to. For two rolls, four pieces of sushi, two cups of tea, one tofu appetizer, one salad and one miso soup, I paid over 70 dollars for food that’s just on par. Will not go for a second time.

Yay! My husband and I were craving for hibachi, and we wanted to try something different. We trekked all the way up to Ashburn and decided to give Nagoya a try! The restaurant itself is at the tail end in a plaza off of Junction Plz. This restaurant was so cute — very cheery, bright, and very clean when we stepped in. The owner was this unbelievably nice Korean lady who greeted us and had us seated right away at the hibachi grill area. Our server, who was new, was named Sunny, and she was very sweet and friendly. Our hibachi chef was Jesus, and he had a great sense of humor, very meticulous, and a great entertainer — he was such an unbelievably sweet guy and our whole dining experience was just plain awesome because of him! It was amazing to see him being so organized and almost OCD in terms of making sure that everything is tidy and kept! Both my husband and I got the Hibachi Filet Mignon, which came with the Nagoya Soup(mushroom soup; the broth was clear and mushroom-focused; I wasn’t much of a fan as I thought it lacked flavor, but my husband liked it) and Salad(I absolutely loved the thick sesame/ginger salad dressing as it was very creamy and the lettuce itself was very fresh and cold!) to start off with. The hibachi show consisted of the ‘egg roll,’ the heart-shaped fried rice, the steaming volcano(always my favorite!) with added ‘fireworks,’ the choo-choo train, and the shrimp-to-mouth toss(that I always cheat on!). The Nagoya Special Sauce/yum-yum sauce was more on the tangy side, so I was a little apprehensive about that; however, the sauce complemented well with the hibachi vegetable, the fried rice, and the filet mignon. We also saw the sushi chef creating some great plates, so we decided to try the ‘David’s Roll,’ which contained shrimp tempura, spicy crab, and topped with slices of avocado. My husband and I were both huge fans — the maki was presented beautifully, and it was fresh fresh fresh! The taste was great — the creaminess from the avocado, and the large shrimp tempura that it contained with the fresh/vinegary crab salad inside. Yum! We both thought it was one of the best maki rolls we’ve had in a while, if ever, in NoVA! :D I had plenty of leftovers from the tepanyaki meal, so that was great. I definitely found my favorite hibachi place in the area and would definitely come back here if I ever get a craving — the inviting atmosphere, the super friendly service & attentiveness, solid hibachi fare, and the awesome Jesus — woot woot! Also, I am excited to also try other specialty rolls. I am so glad that we were able to try this place out! +Jesus, the hibachi chef: D +lovely fresh makis!!! :D +friendly owners & staff: D
