Hilton Garden Inn – Dulles North

My go-​to hotel each week when I am in Northern Virginia. Very helpful and friendly staff at both the front desk and the restaurant. Easy parking. Breakfast is wonderful. And… the best part: nobody ever uses the pool and hot tub, which means it’s a spot where you can hide and relax after a long day at work or in class.
Highly recommend.

Review based on 2 night stay on 2^nd floor:
PROS:
+ 24 hour shuttle
+ Gas station across street
+ Lounge/​Bar with decent food. Burger/​fries were good for a late night meal.
+ Rooms were clean and bed is sleep number (adjustable to your preference)
+ AC was strong
+ Friendly front desk
+ Plenty of outlets for charging devices (USB combo on nightstand)
CONS:
— No restaurants within immediate walking distance
— TV is tiny for distance from bed
— Parking area was a little tight, but parking wraps around back
Would stay here again next time in town.

I used to stay in the Hilton Airport Dulles North, which was great, but the rates are not so good in the week, but great at the weekend. I did a bit more price comparison and found that Hilton Garden Inn Dulles North had great rates, and to top it off, it has free airport shuttle bus 24 hours, which is better than Hilton Airport. So here I am. It also offer the same parking deal like Hilton Airport Dulles North.
The room is not bad. As a Diamond Club member, you can choose to have breakfast or points. The breakfast is not bad, but it is half buffet and half order. You order your main i.e. eggs, sausage or bacon, pancakes… etc. Fruit, yogurt and pastries are self serviced. Or tea.
On my way back got upgraded to the suite, which has a nice tub, but not a jacuzzi, so a bit disappointed there. Overall, the sleep quality is good, because the mattress is of good quality. Noise level is good — meaning quiet.
All in all, I will stay there again.

I’ve stayed here twice already and this hotel needs a lot of improvements
1. NO AC in the halls. It’s flipping hot
2. Not so great menu items in restaurant
3. There potato soup was burnt
4. Pork chops over cooked
4. Beds are hard as hell
5. Rooms can use an update
6. Smallest TVs in the world; in rooms
7. Fire alarm went off; we had to evacuate the building but know one knows why
I will look to be staying at the hotel next door moving forward

I’m a loyal Hhonors member but this place tested my patience.

I’ve stayed here a bunch for work, and this is a solid, quality hotel. I always review relative to the brand standard, and as a Hilton Garden Inn it’s top of the pack. Staff is super friendly and helpful, the place is clean, check in is fast. The restaurant won’t win any culinary awards, but it is acceptable and convenient. Plenty of parking, and a pretty decent location (at least for me!).

Let’s talk beds
This is possibly the most uncomfortable bed I have not slept in for a long while.
In fact the last time was in Grimsby in 1993 where I was booked into a BB which turned out to be frequented by fisherman and the bed was a single with a crater where your backside should have rested comfortably.
Back to my 4.00am rant in my lumpy, unsupportive, crater laced mattress.
It’s a nice looking hotel, friendly staff. Enjoyed a dinner in the hotel restaurant and utilized the business facilities to print tomorrows presentation.
However, they have missed the point in a hotel should provide a comfortable sleeping experience for the weary traveller
bed ½ star everything else 4 stars.
I will not be returning and should have stayed at the Hampton Inn in Leesburg ike I normally do.
I am sorry pillow top mattress, I strayed but will return soon!!!

Somewhat isolated location with no dining options other than the lounge if you are car-​less.
Wanted to order room service but there was no menu. Asked the manager for one and was told it was in my room. He eventually got me one (and let me know there was one in my room. Again.). Why argue with me? Just get me a damn menu.
Fitness center was pretty good.

We chose the Hilton Garden Inn for the location and price. We reserved a five-​day stay so that we could visit family in Ashburn. I couldn’t be happier with the choice. The front desk staff has been accommodating and helpful. Breakfast either comes with the room or can be purchased separately. There is a lovely staff in the breakfast area. Choices are great for breakfast, with a full cook-​to order menu and self-​serve options. Their bacon is some of the best we have had anywhere. There is a free shuttle to and from Dulles airport. From the airport there is public transportation to the District of Columbia. The cost for seniors is only $ 3.00 each way. The rooms are moderate sized, comfortable and well-​appointed. There is no bathtub in our king bedroom, but we prefer the shower-​only option. I will stay in this hotel on future visits, mostly because the staff has been so kind and helpful.

Hilton Garden Inn is my favorite hotel chain. It has the best cost to value ratio of the national chains, in my opinion. And you can pretty much rely on them to give you a consistent experience from hotel to hotel.
I had no issues at this HGI and will stay here again.

First of all the one star is for the nice entry way. The room looked nice also. BUT then the bed is hard as a rock. We didn’t notice till the morning that it was adjustable. It was hidden under the sheets. If you are going to put in an adjustable mattress maybe put a sign saying where the controls were!!! Then both my husband and I woke up throughout the night sweating! The heater in the room obviously malfunctioned. The a/​c wouldn’t work to get it cooler either. We suffered throughout the night because we weren’t changing rooms at 2am. To top off the miserable night sleep the housekeepers didn’t knock and just unlocked the door at 8:15am and tried to come in!!! Lucky my husband closed the top latch. She still tried to open it even after slamming into that yelling housekeeping!!! I said a word or two to her. I am beyond disappointed in the hilton!!!

As far as the hotel goes, I was happy. The room was clean and comfortable. I am a smoker and Steve at the front desk took note and promptly moved me to a room on the first floor since I didn’t have the foresight to reserve a smoker friendly room.
The only draw back was the toll roads and the sparse if non-​existent selection for dining and entertainment. A short drive away provided a small strip mall type area in Sterling which has a movie theatre and some small restaurants, mostly fast food.
I chose this hotel for the price and proximity to the airport. It was troublesome because I spent extra money traveling to and from DC. This is understandable because you can’t go anywhere in DC without exacting some toll. But I would have been able to get a hotel closer to DC for the extra dollars that tolls took from my wallet. Make sure to have cash, change, and a card ready since the tolls don’t really seem to be standardized from here to DC.

I’m a very loyal HGI fan disgusted by this location.
It’s easy to find via GPS, but it’s the second exit off a $ 4 toll road. Seems kinda ridiculous to pay $ 4 to drive 2.3miles on this toll road when approaching from Dulles. Seek an alternate route.
The hotel appears to be very new, so new that there’s nothing around. Just a gas station and an Aloft hotel. No restaurants or retail nearby.
At checkin I was greeted by a staffer that appeared ready to go clubbing instead of working. Dressed so casually that you wondered if the hotel staff participate in some sort of casual dress down day. Who cares, just check me in, but I do have hesitations passing my credit card to someone appearing so non-​professional.
I go to my room, it appeared clean and spacious. I did my bed bug check and found to my horror that the sheets were not clean. They were littered with stains and small curly hairs, GAG!
Packed up, went down to the front desk and kindly asked for a new room. The clerk was friendly and issued me new keys to a different room.
This room didn’t appear to have sheets that were as dirty. I placed the card requesting new linens on my pillow the next morning before leaving for work, I returned to find the same sheets still on the bed (I marked them as a hotel inspector would, finding the same red mark still on the dirty linens). I was fuming, but I returned the next day at 1am and was stuck. I couldn’t easily checkout as I had a 6am flight.
The bathroom seamed ok, the shower head was broken and sprayed water out to both sides of the shower, and the low flow head was annoying.
I understand that hotels need to conserve to save on things like water bills for showers and cleaning linens, but my experience just seemed like wholesale laziness on the part of the housekeeping staff.

I have never stayed at this hotel and I probably never will. Let me guess, you’re wondering what gives on the five star rating. Well, I received some of the best service I’ve ever had over the phone when I called to ask if they accept cats. (Don’t judge me.) Mary offered to find the nearest location that did accept them and not only booked the room for us, she was EXCEEDINGLY pleasant and respectful in doing so. In an era where customer service is dying of asphyxiation, this was the shot of epinephrine necessary to get it to hold on just a wee bit longer. Good job Hilton, you totally get my (employer’s) money for being nice! My only regret in what Mary did is I’ll never get to see her… and propose to her.

A nice airport hotel, conveniently located off of the Dulles Toll Road. This part of NoVa isn’t built up all that much, so you still have a sense of country while not sacrificing nice dining options. The hotel has 5 floors and feels brand new. Everything was remarkably clean. I was even informed at check-​in that they use state-​of-​the-​art beds guaranteeing a comfortable night’s sleep. Said bed was comfortable, nicely conforming to my body. Free wi-​fi was available throughout the hotel, and room service was available for the incurious. Reception staff were always professional and very friendly.
I found the hotel through Hotwire where it was listed as a 3-​star hotel. It cost $ 65 + $ 13.25 (tax) = $ 78.25. Rack rates start at $ 159/​night.

One night Mr. S and I had a fight and I decided to go stay at a hotel. The Hilton had the best prices so I packed up and left.
This place is currently located in the middle of nowhere, which isn’t bad, I just wanted to note that. I suppose if you give it a few months that will change since developers are building like it’s going out of style.
Anyway, the staff at the Hilton made a bad situation very enjoyable. Everyone was so friendly! I ordered room service and it was delicious. I also liked the look of the hotel– business center, pool, clean lobby, nice restaurant… it was just a really good stay… especially considering the circumstances.
I enjoyed myself and hopefully I can go back with Mr. S next time!
