Enshin stresses the development of flexibility, power, and speed, with emphasis on stretching, conditioning, and technique. Training in Enshin karate builds spiritual awareness, mental alertness, a sense of confidence, and provides resources for meeting the challenges encountered in life.

Enshin Karate is a practical system of empty-handed self-defense based on a strategy of circular movement allowing you to use your opponent’s power and momentum against him or her. This strategy, called sabaki, is the difference which enables its practitioner to convert defense into offense.

History

Established in 1999.

As a young man, I trained for several years in different styles of martial arts such as Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do and traditional Japanese Karate. One day I honestly asked myself if I was fully prepared for a situation where I had to defend myself in a real situation. I couldn’t lie to myself — my answer was «No!» I was well aware of weaknesses that could never be improved due to the type of training those martial arts offer.

Looking for a true practical style, I kept visiting different martial arts schools, till one day I came across a style that ultimately changed my life. It was Kyokushin Karate, one of the premier Japanese full contact styles. I was only 16 years old when I joined a Kyokushin Dojo. Regular training was very hard, and sparring was even more challenging. I went on to study Kyokushin Karate up to the level of 3rd Dan and I even opened my own school when I was only 21 years old. Meanwhile I got involved in Full Contact competition to challenge myself. After losing my bouts
