Ashaway RV Resort

Really like this park! Amenities are great, bathrooms and showers are clean, staff is helpful and kind, water is great, electric and sewer hookups are easy. There is a combination firepit/​grill and picnic table on every site. The resort is fully functional, pool and hot tub are ready and the trees are growing! Leveling the camper on a rock free site was simple.

This is a work in progress as the campground itself is still under construction. We knew this ahead of time only because we visited their Facebook page so it was no surprise to us. They kindly gave us a voucher to visit next year which was a nice gesture and we will definitely be back to see the finished product. When we arrived at the welcome center, an older gentleman came out to greet us — he was so friendly and kind and promptly got us squared away. He drove us out to our site in his little Red Sox golf cart and made sure we had everything we needed. We didn’t realize they had cable so we didn’t bring a cable cord with us. He let us know they sell them on-​site but with free wi-​fi there, we «roughed» it with the ipad. At one point the owner stopped by to check in and see how things were; however, I was at the pool with our son so my husband briefly spoke to him. The pool area is very nice with a splash pad for younger kids and an adult whirlpool. The whirlpool was not yet heated so perhaps they’re still working out the kinks. The pavilion which is adjacent to the pool area is still under construction — the building itself is there but they’re still doing work on it. Not sure what is planned for inside but I’m hoping it’s a snack bar and game room for the kids for rainy days. As for the playground, it needs some additional things to be a fully functional area for kids of different ages. It could use a slide at the very least but a small playscape would be awesome. My son enjoyed riding on the barrel train around the campground and he definitely enjoyed the pool which had a zero entry in the shallow side which is really nice for small kids. Even better, the shallow end is separated from the deeper end (by deeper, I’m talking 4 ft tops) by a platform of sorts so little ones don’t get surprised by suddenly walking into deeper water. Not necessary for us but I’m sure parents of younger kids appreciate stuff like that. Being so close to the beaches, I’m not sure they need two pools as the other reviewer suggested. Had it not been for the poor weather, we would have spent most of our time at the beaches as I’m sure a lot of people plan on when camping so close to the shore. The friendliness of everyone was the most pleasant part of our stay and the place has incredible potential so I hope they realize that and run with it as they finish up their work.

So before my review I need to note that the resort is not yet finished. We weren’t notified until we came to check in which caught me off guard. They absolutly took care of us giving a gift card for a future visit. With that I gave it a day or so to check everything out.
The plus side to the resort is everything is new. The people who work here are pleasant and very helpful. The size of the site we stayed on was good in size with proper location of amenities. The pool looks great along with the splash pad once the pad is complete. They also build a large patio for the seasonal sites which we like. The location is amazing for the beaches and fishing. It’s only a 10min drive to some of the largest beaches in Rhode Island. The outlook of the finished product looks like a top notch camp resort.
The downers… First thing I would have expected is level sites. Brand new camp ground I’m highly disappointed it took us over an hour to level our camper. It wasn’t just our site neither they are almost all unlevel. There is one site they had to use a large spool from electrical wire to lift the back end. That’s almost a foot and a half off. To me there’s no excuses there. The overall size of the campground is great but two pools would have made a better choice. It worries me on busy weekends how it will hold everyone. We have a 1year old son so to keep him busy besides a pool is a play ground. From what we read is it’s supposed to be top of the line. It was pathetic. All it consist of is a swing set with no infant seats a small rocking horse and a small jungle gym. The only thing he could have possibly played with was the wood chips. The camp store should at least be stocked with the basics for emergencies. It’s pretty empty.
To finish off my review overall I did see a large potential of growth with the campground. Small changes could make a big difference. My experience was good and we are absolutely going to use our gift card to give it another chance. I would hope they take into consideration adding to the playground and doing what they can to make this a «resort» as of now it’s just another campground. I really hope they live up to what was expected. I don’t see a Normandy farms type resort but I see a more affordable and family oriented place to let my son grow up.

This campground is still under construction. The owner is nice and will refund your money. Though, I wish they were more honest on the phone. I called 2x to see if the site was ready and the pool was open. As of yesterday the pool was not open. I picked up quite a few nails yesterday. Wifi is spotty and cable has not been installed at all the spots. This is not a Resort. Maybe next year. Beware of the dust from the dirt roads and the spots are not on level ground.
