I went to Impressions a few times to get a wash and cut. At first their prices were reasonable. During subsequent visits, the price climbed higher and higher. I have short hair and to maintain I cut every few weeks. The price has shifted upwards nearly 50% nothing has changed in my cut or style. Like another person commented in another complaint, they don’t post prices.

My mother lives down the block so I figured I’d try this place out. The first time I came to this salon, the beautician did a decent job. I figured this would be a good option for a last minute wash and set when I’m in the neighborhood. The second time I came into the salon was today. I walked in at 530pm. However, each worked looked upset they’d have to start my hair so close to 7pm. No one greeted me and when I asked how much the wash and set was, the woman I asked actually ignored me — I was standing directly in front of her. The worker who finally started my wash and set was upset my hair was thick and began complaining in Spanish about it thinking I didn’t understand her. The salon uses Aveda products & I didn’t realize it until after she started conditioning my hair. Personally, Aveda dries my hair out so I avoid them — however, that’s not the salon’s fault. She hardly washed my hair at all and put literally a dimes worth of conditioner in my hair. Additionally, when the worker started putting rollers in my hair the comb she used was too thin and she struggled through it while ripping my hair out. The worker placed me under the dryer and came back 25 minutes later to take me out. I knew my hair wouldn’t be dry — it takes at least 45 minutes no matter what salon I go to. They wanted to go home and figured they could just blow dry my hair. I asked to be returned to the dryer. However, I still hadn’t complained. My tipping point was when the manager or owner, along with the two workers in the salon, were irate and began speaking in Spanish about my request to go back under the dryer. Again, thinking I didn’t understand them. Immediately following this, the three of them begin yelling about me paying before my hair was finished. Their credit card machine didn’t work. They actually asked me to go to the bank at that moment because they were closed. I’ve worked in the service industry. I completely understand wanting to go home after a long day. But it was rude and extremely uncalled for. I can’t speak for the rest of the staff. There were only three people working there when I walked in. However, each of the women I encountered were unfriendly and quite honestly not very good at doing hair. I will never return to this salon again.

Second time coming here. Second time disappointed. Terrible. TERRIBLE. Needed a trim, less than an inch, just to ward away split ends. My hair is at least 3 – 4 inches shorter & just not cut nicely at all. Furthermore it was not straightened well. I will definitely have to flat iron it in a day. Over all I just don’t think the women who work here care about doing a good job. They just want to get you out of there & they do not listen. I am extremely disappointed almost to the point of tears. I have been growing my hair for months. I even invested in pills to help speed up the process. All that time, effort & money wasted. I would be less pissed if the my hair was cut well into a nice shape. I would love a refund but thats not possible. If you can go anywhere else go there. If you absolutely have to get your hair done go here but do not let them cut your hair.

Got my nails and hair done here: Nails: Nice venue. I got the gel mani regular pedi and it was done very well. The woman took her time to really do the job well. What i will say is the fact that they dont post the price anywhere is mad shakey — wtf. transparency please. Hair: Got a good wash and set from this place, i observed the girls working and was able to make the best choice based on the women before me since im new to the spot. The wash girl that they have there though… hmmm. i dont think she knows what shes doing and her rollers game is weak. $ 30. I had the stylist with the red hair that sits at the last chair on the right side– shes good. Overall nice spot but they should post their prices.

* I am reviewing the hair salon* I have passed this hair salon many times and decided one day to try it out. When I arrived the receptionist was friendly and I didn’t have to wait. I got a perm with a wash& set. The beauticians were very gentle and good, but not friendly at all. I didn’t mind that they weren’t friendly just thought it would make a customers experience better. The ambiance was very relaxing. The salon is very clean, quite and stylish. All of their equipment is new. My hair came out great and I was pleasantly surprised. When the beautician was done I asked her a question about me wrapping my hair at night, she obviously didn’t understand me and told me she didn’t have any hair pins, that’s not what I asked but I just said ok thank you. Over all my experience was good, the beauticians should be more friendlier they kind of look mean and bothered

Just had the most amazing pedicure at this place!(Which I believe is like the only nearby Nail Spa in Far Rockaway) The lady who did my toes spent an hour on my feet because I got the Zen Pedicure. It’s a little more expensive but incredibly worth it! She took her time and did SUCH a wonderful job. She was not to hard or too soft on my feet and that’s pretty hard to do seeing as I am incredibly ticklish! I will definitely be repeating the Zen pedicure on a monthly basis! The only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because there was a lady there who left her children running around screaming for the end of my experience which sort of killed the stress free environment. But that’s not their fault. the eyebrow wax was also relaxing and she did not rush that either! She understood the shape I wanted and did a great job!

Don’t go there. Rip off. Manicure and pedi was $ 47 and microderm is 120 without facial. The lady wouldn’t even tell me the price before hand. They charged me $ 170 for the most basic service you could go to a cheap day spa and get a better job done for. Garbage. Absolutely garbage.

I sit here typing furiously on Unilocal with an ice pack on vagina, so you don’t have to. I was really excited to get an affordable Brazilian close to home and made an appointment for 3. I got there early and waited until 3:12. I didn’t really mind as I wasn’t in a hurry. The wax technician seemed v friendly. The waxing room is nice, but I could see spilled wax on the outlet which did not reassure me of much. The music they were playing was supposed to be calming and I’m sure it is to some people, but to me it at times sounded like horror movie music with birds chirping over it. On the table, the technician kept the wax and cloth between my legs, which I found strange and possibly dangerous? I’ve gotten waxes at many different spots and this is the only place where it was painful and of such low quality. After 10 minutes of working on the same spot, the technician rubbed something on me and explained to me that she was leaving whatever it was on for ten minutes to «soften» the hair, as my hair was too strong to wax like that. No other wax technician has ever felt that was necessary, but I went with it. She left me for 10 minutes and I realized while I was lying there like an idiot, that it smelled like Nair. I can’t say for sure whether it was or not but I checked after she wiped it off and quite a bit of hair was removed. She proceeded to wax areas the Nair(?) had missed and it went pretty okay, but she spent a lot of time rubbing various lotions and things on me. I was in there for an hour. At the end of it she said there were little hairs she could tweeze. I looked down to see a couple patches of hair and honestly, I did not want to spend another moment in that place so I told her to leave it. When I got up to change I saw a little bit of blood on the towel that was covering me. I looked down and saw puffy awfulness with a little patch of hair. I realized that she had spent so long rubbing me with lotion and such to ease the swelling. The whole reason I decided to try this place out was because when they first opened, their flyer advertised a Brazilian as being $ 25. When I got to the counter I was charged $ 60! I was too tired to argue so I forked it over. I noticed someone else had a similar problem with their pricing. Bottom line: If you love yourself, do not come here.

This was my first time coming to this place after walking pass many times. So I went in she told me the wait was 20 mins so I said ok i will go home and come back but keep my spot. When I came back again and asked how long the wait was still 20 mins I wasn’t in a rush so I sat down and waited. I probably waited an extra hour. I believe I was seated to get my nails done like 830. This manicurist came to me and soaked my nails and went on to another customer, they are very short staffed. Long story short. She did my nails pretty good I love them actually but the waiting needs to improve. And I also hate when establishments tend to other customers when they should be focusing on you. They should try to hire more staff. Bottom line: I will try one more time, just to see how the service is once more.

I’ve recently moved to the area and was very excited about having a brand new, spa-like nail salon basically across the street from my house but unfortunately will have to look for another nail salon. Had a mani-pedi last week and the very next day my nail polish started to chip and pedicure lasted 3 days… The salon itself is very nice, it has a nice, refreshing design and great pedi chairs but the nail polish selection is very poor and they don’t have any new essie summer colors. When I was there on one of the big flat screen tv’s hispanic dance music was blasting and the ladies who work there were talking very loudly the entire hour I was there… Won’t be coming back — for sure!
