CertaPro Painters of Arvada

Pro: Bob, the franchise owner, is a straight-​forward guy. Angel, the crew chief REALLY knows his stuff. The work was well done and completed in a timely manner.
Cons: Not the least expensive (more on that below). The rest of the crew needs a little more experience and maturity, but the boss kept them on track.
Review:
I’ve been through the ringer with Denver-​area painters. CertaPro of Arvada is the only company that I recommend. Most painters consist of the owner (the guy with the sprayer and ladders) and a few of his buddies. The other companies are bigger operations with high-​pressure sales people who either lie to you or are borderline coercive and have little control over their lackadaisical crews. (See my other painter review for details). CertaPro of Arvada does it right. You know you’re paying for overhead — the lady who answers the phone when you call the office, or the car that’s a wrapped CertaPro ad – but at the same time you know somebody is going to answer the phone when you call and you know Bob isn’t trying to hide from you in a nondescript van.
Angel, the crew chief, really saved the day. He has a keener eye for detail, is more knowledgeable, and has a stronger work ethic than his younger crew members, who are really his support staff. While everyone else made excuses for why the powerwashing was so uneven after the first day, Angel climbed the ladder and re-​did the job… and did it right. I was a little disappointed that the CertaPro crew didn’t take the initiative to fill in one of the woodpecker holes that was not mentioned in the contract, but I was also impressed that they took the initiative to dig out dirt to expose the lowest boards of the building. Angel also triple-​coated an area that really needed it without anybody talking to him about it.
When hiring any painter, I recommend taking the time to carefully detail expectations and put all of them in writing. With Bob and Angel I felt that I was dealing with people who were honest and competent, and I recommend using them for your painting needs.
