I enjoy shopping here at this location. Most office supplies are very conveniently located and a customer service representative is always at the door asking if one needs additional assistance. I found that to be a huge plus, since most retail stores do not provide such an option. In addition, there are a few sections scattered throughout this location that offers bargain books at 5.99 each in hardcover. Nice, since I do love to read, and I know that many office type people travel a ton and books are extremly expensive at the airport. However, this visit could have been a bit smoother. The front representative noticed my confused look as I entered the store and asked for an agent to meet me in the aisle for the products that I was looking for. She came at the location, but she herself was confused at my question, because I was looking for a few phone line cords that would connect my headset phone to the desk phone at work. I wanted to connect the phone cord to a splitter and connect the headset to the amplifier, just so I can have wiggle room, because the headset did not provide enough cable. The customer service representative had a confused look on her face as I was explaning what I needed and in the end she recommended I purchase the wrong products. This is very frustrating, because I now have to re-visit the store to return these items. Hiring some reps with better product knowledge may be better off for you Office Max. This is an example of a great intention that was executed in a rather poor manner.

I went to this place on the evening before my Mom’s funeral, needing to get 200 copies of her funeral program printed. The guy in their print shop was incompetent, rude and whiny. He CLEARLY had no idea how to do the simple Adobe Acrobat operation needed to turn my pdf into a booklet. He was trying to drag and drop pages from the pdf into the print screen(!), but when I tried to offer step by step advice on how to proceed(because I do this FOR A LIVING), he got defensive. When I offered to sit at the computer and fix the file, he said he couldn’t allow me to do that, because he’d get fired. So I went to talk to his boss. His boss was just as useless, and repeated the ‘I can’t, I’ll get fired’ line. Then, he went out for his cigarette break right out the front doors, while I packed up my stuff and made arrangements to send the file to a print shop where the staff actually knew how to do their JOB. As he sauntered back into the store reeking of smoke, he didn’t even bother to apologize for his store’s lack of quality. So I got on the phone to a nearby FedEx Office, where there was an actual PERSONWITHSKILLS. I emailed the file to him, and by the time I drove over(within about 10 minutes), he had a proof ready for me to look at. Looked GORGEOUS. I happily spent my money there, and was on my way back to my grieving family in less than an HOUR. You suck, Office Max 2770, and you have made me dramatically less likely to EVER go to an Office Max again, anywhere I see one.
