Moving Insurance LLC

Based on our extra payment for additional insurance coverage, we are not being properly reimbursed now for damaged and lost items during our recent cross country move. We purchased an additional insurance coverage amount for $ 24,000.00 for our antique and contemporary items, during our cross country move, in case of loss and damage. Once the items arrived to our home we immediately noticed 5 antique/​contemporary items were damaged and 1 antique item lost. After filing the claim in detail to MovingInsurance, LLC, based on their request, which included a detailed repair cost estimate from our local antiques/​furniture restorer, and a copy of the original purchase receipt for the 1 lost antique item, MovingInsurance, LLC now refuses to pay us anything, nothing at all, for reimbursement from our claim of the restoration/​loss total amount of $ 1545.00 as per the total additional coverage amount of $ 24,000.00 that we already paid for before our move. MovingInsurance, LLC has told us that the damage and lost items descriptions should have been written down on the items sheets at the time of delivery to us but we quickly informed the mover delivery men, at that time, of the damaged/​lost items and they refused to write down our damage/​loss descriptions of those specific items on their items delivery reports. Read the other negative reviews and their comments which are very similar to ours. Do not contact this insurance company for your move!

I gave this company another 2 weeks to wait for the paperwork. I called after 2 weeks only to find out the agent in charge of the claim has either left the company or got fired.
Kelly Moran is now handling this and has asked for the original moving paperwork. I sent the paperwork via FedEx.
Kelly then asked for more photos of the broken TV, since she couldn’t see the damage. Before I even got her the photos, she sent a response.
On 09/​04/​2015 I got a response the majority of my claim has been denied, in other words, they will not pay to replace the broken TV and they will not pay to fix the bent couch. All they offer me is $ 77! LOL
Folks, if you’re moving cross country do yourself a huge favor:
1. Hire a reputable moving company or just move on your own.
2. Do not hire one of these online insurance companies, they will just take your money and find a reason to deny the expensive items that broke during the moving.
Coming to think of it now, this company was recommended by the movers who did a terrible job, I won’t be surprised if they are linked to each other in some shape or form.
Insurance companies = THE BIGGEST FRAUD IN AMERICA!!!

At the recommendation of my moving company — i purchased a mid-​range policy from Moving
to cover potential losses during a cross country move. I did this because the moving insurance was only, by law, responsible for 6 cents/​pound for lost or damaged items — so if you have an expensive, light weight item, like a flat screen tv — you would be out of luck if something happened to the television during the move. I did an internet search and found
, talked with a sales person and purchased a policy for around $ 250.00 — I was told I had purchased a replacement value policy — I thought I read and understood the call print — however, I had not. The moving company broke/​damaged several items of furniture, that they had wrapped, and lost 3 boxes. This is an copy of a part of their «settlement» letter

This was the first I had heard of an «appearance allowance» — as you can see from this — this was clearly not «replacement value coverage» — and there was no co-​insurance, as the insurance company told me that if I accepted a settlement from the moving company then this policy wouldn’t pay — and supposedly this coverage was better than that offered by the moving company — seems to me in the end it was about the same and the only person i helped by purchasing this policy was the moving company.
Long story short — if you purchase «moving insurance» — be really clear about what you are purchasing and what they really will cover.
The only positive thing I can say is that the insurance company was prompt when I initiated the claim process — and really prompt at telling me they were sending a check for $ 57.00 — as a settlement — after the $ 250.00 deductible, for a claim that conservatively was valued at $ 1900.00.
