Zen Nails & Spa

My sister lives here and absolutely loves their shellac manicures (they last 2 – 3 wks!) & regular pedicures so of course I had to try it. Hands down best pedi with a long massage & lots of attention to detail. I had my mani pedi with Nam & my sister usual sees Sela for her shellac manis & Jasmine or Nam for pedis. They apparently serve wine too. I will plan to go back on every visit to Memphis.

So unsanitary and dirty. Nail techs didn’t wear gloves and went from client to client without washing hands. I sat and watched this happen over and over and over. I had shellac nails done and I stuck my hand in the dryer and it was gross. My hand came out with someone else’s gel stuck to the bottom of one of my fingers. She pulled out a buffer and that had been used on someone else. They were really, really busy but didn’t say anything about a wait when I came in. I sat in the pedi chair until my feet were prunes and I had to take them out for the rest of the waiting time. I watched almost an entire movie while I waited. I should have just left and regret not doing so. $ 60 for really poor service (my toenails weren’t done on the ends) and it was soooooo dirty. With so many other options around, I would definitely choose somewhere else.

I have waited over an hour and half to be seen. I just wanted a color change! The nail shop was really busy as well. But, I sign in and was just waiting. Then the nail tech called other customers that come in after me and I had to say I was here first. Dang, what is the point in signing in if they are not using the sheet. No tip here!

I have been here a couple of times now for mani with shellac), pedi and brow wax. The first time I did have to wait about 15 minutes but that seems about normal at all nail salons in this area. The second time I went around 5:30 p.m. on a Tuesday and was able to get out before they closed at 7:00.
The prices are reasonable and the service is great! The girls that work here are very personable and have always done a great job. This is definitely my go to spot for brow waxing. They only charge $ 10 and do a fantastic job!
My only negative comment would be the location. The parking is always a nightmare because the retail center is located on a very dense space/​spot at a busy intersection. It is sometimes really difficult to get in and out during peak traffic. Other than that, I’m a fan!

This place is horrible, I just had a pedicure done last week and my nail polish now look really bad. If they would just stop speaking in their language and pay more attention to their customer, maybe they would do a better job. My cuticle was not even clean. I would not recommend this place at all. They were very unprofessional and unless u have plenty of time to spend there, I would recommend u find another salon near by

I got two mani-​pedis here with their Living Social coupons ($ 35). Typical with nail salons, none of the workers spoke very good English, so communication was limited to the absolutely necessary (it took several tries to get «Square or round?» across…). They did a nice job, but this isn’t a service that I would pay full-​price for (I’m not normally a manicure gal), and the location is a bit out of my way. And they are definitely family-​owned and run, with kids and extraneous other non-​employees wandering around.
But if you can’t go a week without a manicure and you live out in that direction, this is definitely a good spot to check out.

Zen Nails is located across the street from Safety Nails, which rocks. Unfortunately, Safety Nails had a long wait. The owners of Zen used to work at Safety Nails, so I figured «What could the big difference be?». I figured wrong. I needed to get a shellac manicure and pedicure for my wedding. Upon signing in to my appointment, the owner suggested I get a delux, which includes a paraffin foot treatment, some special scrub, and a leg massage with hot rocks… I declined, as I needed to cook dinner and it seemed it would take too long.
They put me in the foot soak first and I was forgotten about for a good 10 minutes. The glass of wine I was served was about the best thing about my experience here. (And could have used a few more for what was to come)
My mani/​pedi took *3 HOURS*. Because they were so slow, the owner said he’d throw in the delux for free… well, whatever. The paraffin treatment was so hot, it burned my feet. The lady (one of the owners) that did my manicure kept coughing (and not doing a good job of covering her mouth, as her hands were busy doing my nails) and getting up and kept going to the back to either hack her lungs out or get a sip of water. Their child was meandering around the salon and while, at first, I found him cute, by the end of my experience I was so irritated and his antics became less and less charming.
The shellac costs more than a regular manicure, but it’s worth it, because you can go a good two weeks with no chipping. I got my manicure on Saturday. Today is Tuesday and I’ve got 4 nails that are chipped. My wedding is tomorrow and now I have to get my nails done all over again. I will never, ever, EVER go to this place again. I would have come out better just waiting my turn at Safety Nails.
