History

Established in 2014.

I was walking home from work one blazing hot afternoon, the summer after my junior year of college. I craved ice cream, but it had been a long day, my shirt was stuck to my back rivulets of sweat streaming down my face and there was no way I would make it to the nearest ice cream parlor. I remember relishing the idea of having ice cream delivered right to my door. I finally made it home, opened up my laptop and searched for an ice cream delivery service. Nothing came up. I was devastated. In an age of delivery fruit, alcohol, even fresh cookies and cold milk… how could there be no delivery ice cream? I was faced with little choice. Someone had to fill this void of necessary convenience! Dominoes had sparked a revolution by taking a pizza out of the oven, sticking it in the back of a car, and driving it to customers, it was time for ice cream to find its place in the delivery industry!

The summer going into junior year at Tufts University a couple friends and I started an ice cream delivery service called Scoop N Scoot. While essentially a glorified lemonade stand, making ice cream sundaes and delivering them made for the best summer I ever had. It was clear I found my calling! After graduating I launched The Scoop N Scootery Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Delivery. Armed with a massive ice cream truck, my best friend from home, and a horde of delivery drivers, the ice cream delivery revolution has begun.

I don’t write reviews often or ever but I just have to say that every interaction I have with the staff of Scoop N Scootery restores my faith in good will and honesty in customer service. Management and delivery people are always incredibly pleasant, positive and seem genuinely happy to do whatever they can to help. For example — for the first time EVER in a long history of late night ice cream orders, one of the sundaes we received tonight was not what we ordered. I called the delivery person, who called the store; five minutes later, I got a call back from Sean in the store, who was apologetic and immediately offered to send a driver out with the sundae we ordered. It sounds simple and straightforward but that kind of straight shooting is just not the norm these days, and I feel genuinely compelled to say thank you so here we are! Treat yoself, people, let these nice humans bring you some ice cream

Drove all the way out here and was so excited only to arrive to empty houses. Apparently there’s no actual location and only a food truck and then to my shock when I arrived there was no ice cream shop or food truck. I called the number listed and they told me they only had a truck there but they don’t have it anymore. Their address and Unilocal hours are misleading. Not happy

Just LOL — an interesting set of circumstances led a friend and I to call upon Scoop for their services.
Bear with me.
It was a late (1:00?) Friday night during the summer and Unilocal told us this was the only place offering ice cream.
We went to their physical address (?) in Medford — turned out to be an empty parking lot in the back of an apartment complex.
Stubborn as my friend was, he calls the business number listed; voice on the other end tells us to wait there for 5 minutes.
We gather our remaining testicular fortitude and await for impending doom.
Sure enough, a pair of lights illuminate the area and two guys promptly open shop in their food truck.
Surreal.
1:30 AM, 2 cars, 4 dudes — eating ice cream in the dark and toasting to life. Salud.

Seriously, just get the peanut butter sauce on anything and it will be ah-​mazing. I like the idea of supporting local business and all that, but really. it’s delivery ice cream. How much more do you need to know? The portions are large. Everything is delicious. Is it a little pricey for ice cream? Well, yeah, but they’re delivering it to my house so I don’t even care. Don’t forget– peanut butter sauce.

The Good: their ice cream is tasty. Excellent variety of toppings. While I’ve seen complaints by others, delivery has always been timely for me. DELIVERED SUNDAES.
The OK: Sundaes arrive quite cold — great for avoiding melty sadness, but ice cream is at its most flavorful when it’s not super-​freezing (our tongues can taste it better). I let my sundae sit out for a bit before eating. This lets the ice cream soften, but by that point the toppings have soaked up the cold and become super-​hard.
The Bad: Their «open hours» are a joke. 6 of the 10 times that I’ve gone to order from them (during their posted hours!), they’ve been arbitrarily closed.
EDIT: I’m going to keep a running count so I can do something other than get frustrated each time I think to order from them and can’t. Closed on… 8 out of 13 attempts.

The Scoop N Scootery really never disappoints in terms of customer service!
I order online and they keep grubhub updated if they are out of something. The one time I ordered something that wasn’t available, they called me promptly to resolve the issue. The employees and delivery guys are all pretty young and very nice.
I’m approximately 1 mile away and delivery typically takes 35 – 55 minutes on average, but the ice cream is never very melted when it arrives.
Something I love is they try to accommodate my weird special requests. For instance: «if you can sneak 2 gummy bears on top of my order, I’d love it! If not I understand and thanks anyway.» They totally hooked me up.
It is just ice cream at the end of the day, and ice cream never disappoints. But there are a lot of flavor and typing options. So if you’re up late and willing to cough up the cash to feed your craving, this is absolutely the place to call!

I couldn’t find them initially. I called and they were super nice to give directions not once but twice ended up finding them in a small alley way behind a pizza shop very friendly staff and tasty ice cream to match :)

I had a craving for a sundae on this hot July day, and I saw this new place on my Foodler list. Sundaes for delivery? Seemed a little good to be true, and my experience with delivery ice cream has never been great.
Until now. To be honest, I’d give this place 5 stars for the condition the ice cream arrived in, which could not have been better if I’d been in the shop. The actual sundaes though, were fantastic in their own right. My friend got the «Peanut Butter Bomb» sundae, which was peanut butter cup ice cream, peanut butter sauce, peanut butter cups, and maybe some more peanutty things. Whatever it was, the bite I had was delicious. We both got the middle size, and it was pretty hefty.
For my sundae, I got a custom job with whipped cream, chopped Twix, hot fudge, and waffle cone bits. There was plenty of each topping, and they were GOOD toppings. The Twix had clearly actually been chopped into little slices of a big Twix bar, and it was delicious. The waffle cone bits were fresh, and the whipped cream was… insane. Now that I know how good they are, I’m going to try some more adventurous options, because they have a TON of toppings.
Delivery ice cream sundaes that arrive in perfect condition in very little time? Thank you.

I want to give this place 5⁄5 stars because their sundaes are fantastic AND they deliver! I’ve never had a runny sundae either. That being said, they are a fast-​growing business, or so it seems. Their hours and days open seem to ALWAYS be out of whack. I started to monitor their Twitter to see if it was going to be open on one of their regular days. I was told about the Scoop and Scootery by a family member and ever since my first order, their deliveries have been terrible. I waited for over an hour and a half one of the nights, by that time I was about to head to bed. (we did receive half off our order). I was informed that my order should have been there already when I called, but the delivery driver just said that they were short staffed. I would have much rather had been informed of that before ordering.
The other downside is the price. It’s an ice cream place that delivers, but it comes at a steepish price.
Anyway, if you want to splurge and get a tasty sundae one night, I do recommend. Just make sure they’re open first and that they’re not short staffed.

If I had written a review of The Scoop ‘N Scootery a couple months ago, I would have given them five stars. But their recent decision to institute a delivery minimum of $ 10 has forced me to reevaluate my opinion.
By forcing you to spend $ 10, they’ve made it impossible to get one small sundae delivered. If you live alone and don’t want to eat an enormous portion (and trust me, a small sundae is still plenty big), you’re out of luck.
Unless they reverse this policy, I don’t see myself ordering from The Scoop ‘N Scootery again.

ordered a couple of their sundaes online for delivery and was pleasantly impressed with the whole delivery process. They delivered the ice cream direct and it was packaged just perfect. And they greeted me at the door with service and a smile.

Wow I’m in a 5 star mood today…
After ordering from here 10+ times I thought it was about time to write a review. Firday-​Sunday Scoop n Scoot parks outside of me and my wife’s apt (well at least they used to) and many a weekend nights my wife would send me out into the blistering cold to retrieve a frozen treat. To be fair its kind of fun for me to stand there in the freezing cold waiting for my sunday to be made and then hustle back into my warm house and cuddle up next to my wife and put my cold hands on here… I digress… They focus primarily on delivery but always take the time to abruptly stop all of their delivery orders to make me my wife’s sunday…
Our favorites so far — and we are getting near to have ordered the whole menu:

After Unilocaling for ice cream at 11:50 PM, I was positive that nothing would be opened in the ‘burbs so late in a cold season. But, The Scoop N Scootery was a dream come true. Opened until 2 AM! Have you heard such a thing?

I was overly thrilled to see their website about mobile ice cream and free delivery! What could be better?
The best things about this…
–Late night
–Close to Tufts Students to reward such hard work (and/​or recreation munchies)
–All those flavors and toppings
–presentation
–No creepy, of-​the-​children-​persuasion ice cream man
–No horribly racist ice cream truck song that gets stuck in your head (No, I’m not kidding about that, either. Just Google it.)
–Good, entrepreneurs that make people happy with the offering of ice cream
–As mentioned before, free delivery (up to 1.6 miles)
–Clever sundae names
–FroYo options
–Credit cards accepted
The not-​so-​best things about this…
–My only complaints are that the ice cream flavors just may be underwhelming. I chose the Grasshopper. Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. The chips, sprinkles, and whipped cream were just fine. But, I hardly tasted any mint.
–As for my husband’s flavor, MURRICA… Vanilla ice cream. He, too, could not taste the vanilla. But, maybe that was intended because it was meant to be bland?
–The lids don’t really stay on the container. Makes for a bad driving experience.
I’ll definitely try again, considering location and supporting local businessmen.

What isn’t to love about a food truck with a zero minimum for delivery right to your house in the Medford area?
My better half had been super excited ever since we discovered this in a «late night search» of some sort on Unilocal.They are open until 2 AM so that is definitely an added bonus when you are craving crème glacée right before bed and your local grocer has already closed down for the night.
We rolled up after 9 PM on a weekend, I know College Ave well enough to find them even though they didn’t technically have a specific address listed at all. I’m not sure if they move around a bunch but the night we found them they were right across from the Tufts track.
I had the ‘Murica Sundae, a cacophony of blueberries, strawberries and vanilla yogurt to round out our beloved flag, with fresh whipped cream on top. I was a tad disappointed in the depth of vanilla flavoring in the yogurt, although the berries were delicious and fresh, even if they were still a bit frozen at the time of consumption.
They will definitely be in the back of my mind when we are craving something late and neither of us really care if it is 80 degrees outside or 8. I assume they will stay open even in the dead of February. Not the best I’ve ever had but the friendly staff, relatively decent prices, closeness and late hours are decent enough to give it a few more tries.

These guys are great! I ‘hired’ their truck for a private event at work, and they blew everyone away with their incredible sundaes. The different options are unique, creative, and exceptionally tasty. The only issue seemed to be deciding what to order! The fine gents of Scoop N Scootery were super accommodating and helpful as about forty of our staff helped themselves to some sweet treats. I would absolutely order from here again!
Only one star down, because there aren’t any sorbet/​non-​dairy options. Lactose intolerant folks want to eat fancy ice cream sundaes too.

I don’t know what can get better than someone delivering me ice cream… other than Dave Franco asking me to marry him and telling me to take all his money (If anyone knows him feel free to let him know I’m single.)
Back to business though — The Scoop N Scootery is a delightful, polite, and expedient godsend. They have amazing and creative sundaes that will make you act like one of Pavlov’s dogs at the sound of their name!
Trust me and order there at least once.

Massive amounts of kale and juicing? That was good while it lasted. But now, I found the promised land, The Scoop N Scootery.
I found this place on Foodler and was immediately impressed that they had a coconut based option. The Blackheart Sundae. It changed my life. It was delicious and pain free. The house made whipped cream did not bother me at all.
How much better can it get? Delicious ice cream delivered straight to your door by polite people, it’s heavenly. I’ve (unashamedly) ordered from here a few times and remain impressed. I have to force myself to wait until August.
Sure, I may have shaved a few months off, but it was well worth it!

I Scream You Scream We all Scream for Ice Cream! Especially when they deliver. Cool new concept food truck that makes the Good Humor Man cry. Originally named Scoop and Scoot in 2012 then company shut down while the young entrepreneur graduated from Tufts University. Now back and business Scoop N Scootery serves ice cream and frozen yogurt with a flair for signature sundaes. I tried the «hungry» sized Caramel Latte Sundae but had them replace the caramel chips with chopped Kit Kats. Basically I had this for dinner and didn’t leave a bite behind. They use real homemade whipped cream squeezed from one of those frosting applicators.
Ah the joy of being a food truck and going mobile. 6 Somerville locations used. Richardson’s ice cream served. Free delivery and no delivery minimum to a 2.5 mile radius of Somerville.
This is a first review with the new updated name. I told the two young men working the truck that I would be the first. My ELITE way of thanking them for a kick ass sundae. They have a website, are on Facebook, Grubhub and Foodler.
