I am a renter of a small 3 bdrm single family home. We noticed the house was rather warm when the temperature outside began climbing into the mid 90’s. House was cool at night but becoming uncomfortably warm late afternoon. Landlord sent out TDAC to troubleshoot. Scheduled time was 4:30. Technician arrived at 6:45 with a bad attitude. My wife mentioned to me that she did not want this young guy back for any future work. He worked for a couple of hours and told us he thinks he might have found a loose wire, but«didn’t know what was wrong». He then explained, «everything is working» and showed us a temperature gauge showing cold air blowing, then left. Three days later we had to have someone back out for the same issue. Outside temp is now high 90’s. They sent the same young guy back out. As hot as it is now in north TX, I know it’s hard work, but this young guy looks like a bum on the corner. Comes back in, works for an hour and a half(mind you, he was late again based on the scheduled appointment time) and came back with«I don’t know what’s wrong! I’ll talk to my boss and see if he has any ideas.» and left. Two days later the Landlord agrees to replace the outside condenser. A different young man(a little more professional in demeanor and appearance) comes out and swaps the outside unit. We finally get some relief… for a couple of days. Outside temp is now 100 degrees and the inside temp is 90. Checked the outside unit, it’s not running. Called again. Offered to call a former coworker with a HVAC business to come and find out what is wrong. Landlord explained they just spent $ 3,000 to get this fixed, they have to get TDAC back out. They cannot pay another company. I understand warranty’s, I deal with contractors everyday. If the contractor is not performing, bring in another contractor and back charge the first. This option was not taken. TDAC was sent back out,(the second technician) to figure out what is wrong. When he walked in the door, I told him the outside unit was not working. His response was okay, and he went to the attic. Worked for about an hour, then explained the unit was working when he got to it. So now I’m being called a liar also! Unit is finally working after almost three weeks. I have no use for TDAC and will not recommend!
