Springmill Bread

walked in and was offered a delicious bread sample. I ordered the Cajun chicken club sandwich and it was amazing! Chicken breast, bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and my choice of bread. All of the breads looked delicious! They also had homemade peanut butter and jelly for sale.

I have been to this bakery a few times since it opened and I have to say I am less than enthused.
I get that all new businesses have kinks to work out but so far these are the issues I’ve experienced:
— Long wait times especially on the weekends.
— They tend to be out if something or not stocked properly for things. This past Saturday the manager had to leave his post to go grab eggs from a truck in the parking lot. This created a back up in the line since he apparently is the only one allowed to work the cashier stand.
— A couple in front of me this weekend ordered specifically an «egg and cheese» sandwhich but got bacon on their sandwhich after they waited 15 minutes for their sandwhiches to be made. When they asked the staff to remove the bacon, not all of it was removed and they had to ask again. I then asked for an egg and cheese sandwhich and got bacon on mine too after 15 mins. I think the staff needs to be trained better on how to read tickets/​quickly process orders and the person ringing up the orders should specifically ask with or without bacon. This is mainly because eating bacon is not allowed in many cultures not to mention the many other reasons people can’t have bacon.
— One person had to wait 5 minutes for a cup of coffe while the staff member in charge of coffee literally stood around doing nothing. Then after he got her coffee, he gave her the wrong kind and had to do it again.
–On multiple occaisions I have seen staff members literally twiddling their thumbs with nothing to do while the manager runs around like a chicken with their head cut off. Better training of the staff is needed.
–I have had to scrounge around for an actual menu to see what the bakery offers. It would make sense to either have more of them readily available or write the entire menu on the blackboard above.
— Items such as cookies and muffins don’t seem to be fully in stock ever and tend to look sloppily organized. Some merchandising/​presentation is needed to be taken into consideration.
–Lastly, I got an egg and cheese sandwhich this morning (no bacon yay!) and after eating half of it I realized the egg was green! I thought, «yikes I hope I don’t get sick». I write this all as I am sitting on my toilet with diarrhea for the past two hours from what must have been that egg. Thankfully I got a Typhoid shot a year ago from my trip to India as I can only imagine my symptoms could be a lot worse.
I say this all not to bash this bakery as I really do want it to succeed. I say all of this as an opportunity for this place to realize it’s issues early on so they can keep customers coming back.

I’ve had a couple of sandwiches from here. They were decent but not great. The bread for the sandwiches is so big, I can barely take a bite. I’m more interested in what’s inside the sandwich, so these aren’t my favorite. But I guess bread is their specialty, so makes some sense. I know they’ve recently opened, but service was also quite slow.

Finally. A bakery nearby. Spring Mill has several outposts and each offers a solid selection of soft breads, buttery cookies, and an assortment of pastries. Prices are very reasonable and the opportunity for fresh baked goods is priceless.
I’m glad I’m gluten tolerant. But even if I wasn’t. They have a gluten free options.
