Shiki Sushi

This is my favorite sushi place in the DC area. It is so fresh, delicious and consistent. Always so happy with the food and service!!!

Been wanting to try this place for a long time. Met a friend for a late lunch on a Friday– around 2:15pm. The place was empty which was great. Serve was perfect. We got 3 tools, an order of salmon sashimi and an order of eel nigiri. Everything tastes fresh. The carbonara was weird with bacon in it. The crunch was good as was the veggie roll. All were made with brown rice. The edamame was salty well which I like. I could have used a little less cook time but it was still good. The portion on the edamame is good for sharing. I love the hours: it is open continuously during the day and doesn’t close between lunch and dinner. I’ll be back.

I haven’t tasted my food yet because I have been waiting for my carry out order for over 40 mins. Might I add that the restaurant is empty. Definitely call your order in.

Despite being located in the Ballston commons mall, Shiki Sushi is actually one of my go-​to sushi spots in Arlington (there are not many gems in this area). Come here if you’re in the mood to gorge on americanized rolls that are delicious and consistent. Their hot appetizers are pretty good too. Not necessarily the spot to go when you’re craving authentic nigiri or sashimi. Some rolls are better than others — my favorites are: Candy Cane, Touchdown, Las Vegas, Midori Shower, and Out of Control.
They have great weeknight deals (including BOGO rolls on Monday!) and they partner with Belly for rewards as well. If i’m being honest, they are probably a little bit overpriced for what you get, but utilizing the deals can offset that.

I don’t see how it is 3 ½ starts. I’ve been at least 8 times and always fresh and good. Price is high b/​c of the Rent they have to pay at the mall, but I keep going back. If you want good sushi this is about the best in arlington and alexandria.

Eh — I loveee sushi, and used to come here every once in a while for happy hour, but it really is bad quality, to the point I recently got food poisoning from a salmon roll. It wasn’t bad, just an uncomfortable belly ache for a few hours, and some looooooooooooose stool — but still I was seriously disappointed. Also their alcohol is overpriced for the low quality that it is for mixed drinks.
I wish I could like Shiki Sushi — but there’s nothing good about it. I’ll probably be avoiding them for a while, once I’m over the food poisoning bit.
I can’t comment on their lunch boxes which may be better.

The food was really good and the service was fast. My friend and I both got Yaki Soba noodles and Miso Soups and split a Gyoza. All the food was super yummy!

I came here a couple years ago and thought I would give this place another try, and am glad that I did. Had a much better experience here. The sushi was good and I would come back again. Ordered the Ballston Roll, the Spicy Tuna, Fish Lovers Roll and the Salmon Don Buri. All the selections were quite satisfying.

Ordered the crunchy fried tuna roll (dynamite something or other) and miso ramen. The roll was total mush drenched in sauce. The ramen noodles were not much better. They came in some thick brown stew that tasted really bitter. The noodles themselves were good but inedible bathed in that broth.

Nothing special. The spicy tuna wasn’t spicy at all and the Philadelphia roll is packed with cream cheese. It’s definitely not worth the price. Won’t be going back for more.

I come here with a co-​worker for lunch almost every month, and the bento box combos are consistently good. For $ 10, you get a chicken bento box (cali roll, regular/​seaweed salad, tempura, teriyaki chicken, miso soup) that is a killer deal. For a few bucks more there’s salmon, beef, etc. The spicy ramen is also good on a cold day.
Giving this place 5 stars because I’ve been coming for a couple years now and don’t remember ever having a bad experience.

Don’t let this place fool you. Yes it is in the Ballston Mall but it is really good. It’s nice and clean inside, and the staff is very nice and helpful. I’ve been there twice but both times I liked it very much. The food is good, and I like that they have both Korean and Japanese food, it’s good to have variety for the most part. The sushi is really good but make sure you go during the happy hours or lunch special so you can get a better deal. But yes I would definitely go again, keep up the good work!

This is a hidden gem in the Ballston Mall! It has reasonably priced good quality rolls, fantastic miso soup, and good bulgogi! They have a wide selection of rolls and non-​sushi food too. The atmosphere is nice; it’s generally quiet and a great place for a date night. The specialty cocktails are good but a little pricey ($ 8 – 10). The only time I’ve seen it crowded is Saturday night for dinner but I’ve never had to wait for a table.
The service has been slow, there just aren’t enough waitresses, so keep that in mind if you’re in a rush. I’d recommend this sushi place for a nice low key, reasonably priced dinner!

Came here on a Saturday early evening for a small bite before a movie. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar right away and looked over the menu. We both ordered a 22oz Sapporo which arrived immediately, ice cold and delicious! I got the «yummy roll» which I asked if it could be made spicy. The waitress said she’d bring me a side of spicy sauce, which turned out to just be the sriracha-​mayo sauce. Not really the spice I wanted but nice to have a big dish of it as an option. Boyfriend ordered some nigiri and a spicy tuna roll. Everything I tasted was great and I would definitely choose to come here again to try more.

I’ve been looking for a good sushi place since moving to Arlington. Sadly this place did not meet my expectations.
Food: The sushi here just did not cut it. I ordered a salmon nigiri roll and a dragon roll. I also ordered a roll that contained spicy tuna and crunchy fish eggs. The salmon nigiri roll was ok. The dragon roll could have been better. It was bland and I kept having to use soy sauce to give it some flavor. Finally the spicy tuna roll with the crunchy fish eggs was bad. It contained more of the crunchy fish eggs and not enough tuna. Overall the food needs work.
Service: The service was good. The waitress was good at refilling my drink. She was very prompt to take my order when I was ready. All in all the service was good.
Atmosphere: The restaurant was quite and the lighting was dark, like your typical sushi restaurants. There wasn’t anything that really stood out. Just an average sushi restaurant.
Overall Shiki Sushi is not that great. I’m still looking for a sushi restaurant in Arlington and I’m open to recommendations.

This is my go-​to sushi spot in Arlington. The sushi is fresh, tastes great, and is fairly priced. For me, I always try the spicy tuna roll at a sushi place and Shiki passed the test.
There is usually a decent crowd, but not enough for a wait. What’s better than that?

I order carryout from them with my office every so often. Ordered a Bento Box Steak from them and it was super tasty. It has marinated steak, a salad, california roll sushi 6 – 8 pieces, and tempura. The tempura was still crispy even after coming to us carryout and the steak was really good.
I ordered a Spicy Spider Roll on the side and the softshell crab and avocado was really a good compliment as far as sushi goes. It wasn’t spicy like I expected and it was really good. I will be remembering to order that roll again.
Only think I don’t like is the price of lunch there but you can’t really be unhappy because they use alot of ingredients and the food is really good. Plus it’s sushi and you can’t get sushi cheap and be good.

Ok, went back again recently because I had a meeting in the area, well, the sushi was not too bad, actually pretty good. BUT the service was so friggin’ terrible. I am speechless. What do they not get here. Deliver sushi in a timely fashion. I saw completed orders sit on the counter and avg of 10 – 15 mins while the waitresses sat up front doing nothing at the hostess stand, or hid in the kitchen.
I had to refill my own water and aks the sushi chef for another beer, which he ignored to.
I will not go on, but want to. Again, the service in this place is crap — period

I loveeee this place! The only place I go for sushi. Their sushi is divine, prices are very affordable and I love their presentation. I always get crab wonton & dynamite roll. Their dynamite roll is very delicious! I can’t get enough of it! They also have a variety to choose from their menu: soups, hibachi, noodles, bento box, etc.
The staff/​chefs are friendly. They pretty much know who I am and they already know my order. with a side of spicy mayo. Also, Shiki Sushi has a serene ambiance and is very clean.
Highly recommend this place!

I had visited Shiki Sushi back in February and gave it 3 stars back then, but I think we just ordered the wrong thing (soup). The only thing worth getting here, in my opinion, is the sushi, and upon a re-​visit recently, the sushi was definitely worth it! The rolls are large and they have plenty of great selections. The sushi we ordered was super fresh and filled the 3 of us up! My big recommendation is to get the Dynamite roll. The scallop and sauce it comes with are amazing! I will certainly be back and highly recommend the sushi here to anyone looking for a bite to eat in the Ballston area.
The service was decent, albeit a little slow, given we were practically the only customers in there at noon on a Saturday.
