Restaurant La Campina

I’ve been looking for a place with good pupusas and I’ve finally found it! The curtido and salsa roja has great flavor and the pupusas have a lot of meat and cheese. The tamale frito con creama is really good too.

Im giving them 1 star by default. or id give them a zero! They served me pupusas with a fly… yes I said fly. I threw up in the bathroom as soon as I saw it. Good thing I didn’t take a bite or I would have ate it. The service. mediocre and the quality of food is ridiculous. I would say pick another place to eat. I’m very upset at what happened.
Por si no entendieron en inglés. .me sirvieron pupusas con moscas… si escucharon correcto. con mosca. Tanto asco que vomite en el bano en cuanto lo vi. Que bueno que no le mordí adonde estaba la mosca porque talvez me los ubiera comido. El servicio mediocre y la comida tanto asco. So fuera ustedes escojiera otro lugar para comer. estoy pero MUY molesto en lo que me sirvieron y nunca voy a regresar.

Yes, the food did take a while to come out but it’s only cause they make it to order. When I asked how ripe the plantains were, she came back from the kitchen, plantain in hand to make sure it’s what I wanted… and it was. The pupusas are large and two of them more than filled me up. Nice and gooey inside, full of cheese and chicharrón. The curtido is flavorful and plenty. I’m so glad that this a stone’s throw from my casa… LOVE LOVE LOVE and I’ll def come back!

Super clean. Limited English, so make sure you brush up on our Spanish. They were so sweet and gave me extra salsa because they overheard me telling my friend I wanted something spicy.

I have been here a couple of times now. It was good both times, and both times I had the pupusas. I had the bean and cheese and the chicken. They bring out this coleslaw looking topping which really brings out the flavor of the pupusas. Limited english is spoken here but they understand english. If you are looking for a cchange of pace in dinning come here.

Finally found me a good salvadoran restaurant in Arlington!
Food was yummy: I (mex-​am) had 1 fajita taco, the meat was in big chunks with little fat and much flavor. I had 2 pupusas; the chicharron was tasty and the loroco had much flavor, the outside of the pupusas were crispy do to the oozing cheese but the inside was soft and gooey.
My other half (salvadoran) had beef soup. It looked clean (not much grease or the dark protein from the boil on top). The soup came with a side of rice and hand made tortillas. I got to taste it and was pretty darn yummy and comforting.
Then we shared a bread pudding that was cinnamonny and buttery and I had coffee.
Our grand total: $ 16.12. We even watch a whole soccer game there. The ambience is family oriented and clean. We will be coming for more.

–Mmm, Mexican soda with a natural sugar, I tried Jarritos Mandarin soda
–Steak taco looked burnt and dry but tasted much better than the chicken
–Chicken taco was the opposite. It looked good and juicy but it was slightly bland and dry

My favorite tacos are the simple ones. A double layer of tortillas, some cilantro and onions, a squeeze of lime and topped with some salsa verde. At La Campina, you’ll get just that. They’re made to order so the meat comes out hot and juicy. I love how the meat is soo lean and flavorful. I would seriously pick this place over Habaneros any day because of how lean their meat is. The tacos are $ 1.25 a piece– so for an order of three, the total came out to be $ 4.05. I ordered 3 chicken tacos, one for each of us since it was my first time trying them. We ended coming back for another order of three– this time trying their beef (fajita) tacos. The meat had a nice crisp to them and they were diced in little pieces so it wasn’t too hard to eat. I really like how the meat wasn’t chewy or filled with gristle.
The restaurant sells random Mexican/​el Salvadorean stuff like spices and shampoo. If you happen to be in this part of Arlington, check this place out. I noticed they had Huevos Rancheros. I’m definitely going to try that next.
