These people were racist and unprofessional as I don’t know what! I’ll never come back here again!

My dad is a mechanic and he always told me to take my car to Pep Boys for service, so when my check engine light came on, I brought it in. At first everything was fine, the guy at the counter was polite and helpful, and I told him I just wanted to know what the problem was, i.e., hook up a code reader and tell me what it said.
There was a wait, so I came back a few hours later, and they had my car up on the lift. The guy tells me 1) the oil is completely empty, 2) they want to pull out the fuel tank and replace the fuel pump and pressure sensor, 3) my wheel bearings are bad and my suspension basically needs to be completely replaced, and all of this is going to cost hundreds or maybe thousands of dollars. That seemed fishy, cos my dad’s suggested fix was some Vaseline around the gas cap and resetting the computer, so I asked them to change the oil and nothing else. That cost me $ 20, and the «engine diagnostic» cost $ 90. After they refilled the oil, the check engine light went off.
So the next day I took the car to the dealership service center, and they did a full evaluation. Turns out there was nothing wrong with the wheel bearings, the suspension, or anything else, but I did need new brakes (which I know was true, because my dad told me a few months before that I needed to replace them soon). That evaluation was completely free. So basically the Pep Boys service people charged me almost $ 100 just to tell me there was a bunch of stuff wrong that wasn’t actually wrong. Never going back there again.

Tail light was out and I needed new windshield wipers. Pep boys staff was helpful in finding parts compatible with my vehicle. Didn’t realize they had such a great variety of car accessories. Was able to get made while I was here. One stop shop auto store.

Okay, I made an APPOINTMENT for 6 PM. It’s 6:30 and the desk guy tells me his «guy» is on his way back from Irving. When I got here @ 5:45 he told me his «guy» is at lunch. So why was there an appointment @ 6 available?
He tells me these things like it’s no big deal. To have two tires installed this is a bad deal. If anyone from management ever reads this you might want to change this horrible business practice. You are about to lose my business forever.

No customer service!
I made an appointment today ¹¹⁄₈₂ 014 at 1 pm to have a tire mounted on my car so I show up at 1 and I notify them that I have an appointment and they just tell me to sit in the lobby and they will bring out the paperwork to me. After waiting 20 mins without them even acknowledging me I got fed up and started calling around to other mechanics. I went to city garage down the street and they provided excellent customer service and mounted my tire within minutes and at a cheaper price too.

I needed a new car battery so I stopped by the S. Cooper Pep Boys for some help. I talked to an employee and he helped me select a car battery that had a 3-​year life and was within my price range. Everything was hunky-​dory until checkout:
Employee: «That will be $ 130, ma’am.»
Me: «Ok» *opens purse to fetch wallet“
Employee: «Oops! Sorry, ma’am. There is a $ 170 installation fee because your battery is in a hard-​to-​reach spot, making access to the battery difficult. It will be $ 300.»
Say, what?
I took my business down the street.
P. S. I watched the tech install my new battery.
P. P. S. It only took 5 minutes.

I arrived on time for my appointment to be told all appointments showed up today so they were running behind. This was at 10 AM. By 3:30 PM, I had an inspection sticker, oil change and brake inspection. I had plans to get brake pads/​rotors but I would have been there until close. Any company that relies on customers not showing up will never be reliable. When I checked email, I realized they’d canceled my appointment two hours before I arrived. I provided a phone number so I’m not sure why I wasn’t afforded a call. As I was leaving, a guy in the waiting lounge with a 9 AM appointment for brakes was asking when his car would be ready. He also expressed disappointment. What a fiasco!

I recommend this repair shop to all. I have been customer here for several years. After recent visit and questions about prices, Jose, was very agreeable and made reasonable adjustments. It is nice to have good customer service.

I’ve been going to autozone for a long time. and finally I was trying to look around for Royal Purple Motor Oil. I Saw an awesome deal in which you get 5qt & oil filter for $ 35 dollars. I went here for that deal and actually saw how the store was for the first time that i am hooked. they got everything organized nicely. great friendly staff and they have good deals on black friday too. free tire rotation as well. They just earned a loyal customer.
