I had some great ramen here the other day along with some vegetarian sushi. I brought a client who insisted on ordering his food in Korean, in spite of the restaurants obvious Japanese theme. However the waiter took my friends order graciously, and without comment on his«mistake». Food was pretty good although the price tag in hindsight was a bit more than I was expecting.

Great sushi and ramen, but pricey, get ready to pay.

This place is called Mr. Sushi. I have the sushi. The sushi is quite good. Every time I’ve been here it has been fresh and tasty. My favorite roll is eel and avocado. Some restaurants just can’t get fresh avocado spot on its perfect ripeness and this restaurant does that very well. Ambience is lacking for a romantic date, but for a boisterous extended family meal or group it is perfect. Service is pretty efficient. The biggest gap, which, for the reasonable price I don’t mind is the food execution is a bit sloppy. The dumplings(gyoza) were kind of slapped together and sometimes the rolls don’t hold together well. However it TASTES good, it is pretty fast, and it is local.

Called and asked if they had the lunch special on weekends. She said yes and said«good bye» before even giving me a chance to place my order. Well I guess i’m not eating sushi today.

Me & my friend went there for the first time and we got very disappointed. We ordered lamen and sushi(nigiri) special. The lamen broth was not hot enough and had no flavor. It was literally a mix of warm water with little bit of soy sauce. The fish for sushi was not fresh. It’s more for maki where you don’t really taste fish itself because of the use of heavy mayo or spicy sauce. Its quality was absolutely not worth of 20 $ dish. Out of 12 pieces of nigiri, there were two salmon and two tuna ones and some other kinds. This place is over rated and also over priced. Plus, the restaurant was so cold. Guessed they don’t use heating. It’s not pleasant to be in a chilling restaurant when it’s freezing day outside.

big fan of mr sushi in brookline because of the frequent amazon local vouchers that i find online. who can say no to $ 15 off? so i go there often. i tried out the arlington one for a lunch special, and i know that sushi on a weekend will never be as «fresh» as a weekday(i need to find what day they get their fish delivered!) and my salmon sushi was falling apart, which does not bode well. i ate it all, and it was pretty good, but i am still searching for a great sushi place that doesn’t have preservatives in the fish that leave my feeling kind of ick. their kalbi is pretty good, though. i still will stick with korean places to get my korean fix.

Here again and food is consistent. …service is good with the younger guys. I come here at least once a week and recommend it.

I have been coming to Mr. Sushi for a few years now. I frequently go with my kids, who are in love with the bento lunch boxes(bulgolgi and chicken teriyaki are their favourites). The food is good and the price is quite reasonable — especially for the lunch specials. The staff is courteous and attentive — always service with a smile. I’m a fan!

This Japanese restaurant did not disappoint, nor did it excite me. Their bento box lunch specials are solid and provide your average selection of salad, selected item(tonkatsu, tempura, teriyaki, etc.), California roll, miso soup, egg roll, rice, and orange slices. It was a satisfying selection for an $ 8 price tag. Looking at the menu, basically all the normal standard Japanese-American type items are available, but nothing really captured my interests. The same can be said about the ambiance. Paper screens and watercolor paintings adorn the reasonably sized space suitable for parties from 2 to 10. If you have a Japanese itch, you can get it satisfied here for its convenience of location.

I actually wanna give it 3.5 stars but there’s no such option. I had their sushi roll and ramen, both are good but not yet impressive; so are the service and interior decoration.

Mr. Sushi has ramen? Beef broth Kyusu — a creamy, milky white broth. Light and flavorful. Springy noodles. Firm texture. Shredded green onion. Thin sliced mushroom. A soy marinated egg — still slightly runny in the middle. And a huge piece of tonkatsu pork — Panko crusted pork cutlet. Well done — very unexpected!

Went on a Sunday afternoon with my lady friend, around 3pm. The place was empty, as most places are at that time. Pretty typical Asian place. Server was nice, but only came out every once in a while to see if we needed anything. Food was pretty quick and good. We got a sushi bento box, which was good, especially for the price. We also got a cold green tea, which was pretty good, and shared a maki roll in cucumber, filled with all sorts of stuff. It was pretty good. Overall, decent prices, pretty good sushi, decent atmosphere. Not bad

Mr. Sushi… where to start… I used to go here out of convenience after a long day with one of my friends who lived just down the street. More and more, I realized the end result was never any better. Reading the reviews, I am very surprised when people have said the fish is fresh – well, they obviously eat slop if they think the fish here is fresh… The seaweed salad – tasted old. The sushi – made me sick. Everything else – blah. Staff was mediocre, and the setting was outdated – and dull. Go to Manna Sushi down the street instead.

Came in for a late lunch and wasn’t impressed. Service was inattentive and slightly rude. My tekka don came with all kinds of things in the bowl besides tuna and rice. Not a deal-breaker, but it made it hard to get to the rice when I wanted to. What was a deal-breaker was the tuna itself. It was cut into chunks that were bigger than almost any sashimi I’ve had anyplace else. It was too large to eat comfortably with chopsticks(I could have used a knife and fork) and too much to comfortably put into my mouth at one time. Combined with the weak service, that makes it not worth it. No reason to go hear instead of Toraya unless the line is too long at Toraya.

Because I live and work in the area, I have been to all the restaurants and I have to say this this one is definitely a favorite. I order raw sashimi and the price and portion is awesome. The fish is always fresh(despite mackeral never tasting or smelling fresh) and the cuts are really big and thick — most other japanese places provide small tiny cuts of fish. They also do this awesome buy1 get1 lunch thing every day, where you can buy a roll and get the second one free — that’s a great light lunch for about 10 bucks! Check em out’ tell em’ «sashimi deluxe» sent you

As my friend Reese said years ago, this place delivers good food at very reasonable prices. We had mainly sushi but enjoyed the scallion pancake as an appetizer. The sushi was fresh and tasty and the eel was very light and fluffy, almost airy. We enjoyed it and will go back again soon.

Great afternoon, great ambiance, good food, awesome company. My friend is «the» Anna that Anna Maki is named after, and let me tell you, her namesake exceeded expectations. We shared a number of rolls, all of which were tasty. Topped with Seaweed salad, tempura and Edamame, we were stuffed. Interesting for me was that the spicy tuna roll didn’t have the spicy sauce on top, but embedded within. I’m sure I’ll be back for more Anna maki, but until then, I have my own Anna to enjoy.

Mr. Sushi in Arlington Center provides a creative assortment of sushi that lifts it above your typical suburban sushi bar. The standards are all there, from nigiri and maki to tempura, but Mr. Sushi delivers those, plus some inventive maki combinations, in a quiet, simple atmosphere. In February 2010 I discovered amaebi at Mr. Sushi. Amaebi is a small, sweet shrimp served raw on nigiri, and only available for a limited time each winter. Unfortunately I missed the window this winter, so instead I tried a new maki roll that featured soft shell crab inside with a full eel outside. I’m blanking on the name(dragon roll, I think), but I would recommend to anyone with a sense of adventure(and lack of sticker shock — they’re pricey) to try Mr. Sushi’s special rolls. The menu at Mr. Sushi is moderately priced. Not cheap, but not exactly overpriced. I’ve had their tempura, sushi, sashimi, noodles, and katsu. I’ve enjoyed them all. That said, I’ve had trendy, fashionable sushi in Boston, New York, and Las Vegas. I’ve also had crappy suburban sushi in fits of desperation. Mr. Sushi settles right in the middle, offering approachable sushi for the novice and a go-to place for the sushi lover. Staff is very friendly, and the restaurant has always been clean. Once I have encountered a server who seemed terrified and didn’t quite know what she was doing, but in general the staff is spot-on. The atmosphere is not romantic or trendy, but rather basic — a good meeting place for friends. Check out the lunch specials, and if you happen to visit Mr. Sushi between December and February, ask for amaebi!

Never been to the Arlington branch of Mr. Sushi before — my previous experiences had always been in Coolidge Corner. The entrance faces the corner of Mass Ave. and Court Street(I think). The dining area isn’t huge, but is decent sized. Single bathroom is located in the back by the kitchen. I paid $ 16.95(plus tax/tip) for my combo eel teriyaki/pork katsu which was the same price as a friend’s eel teriyaki entrée, which I thought was a great deal till I saw that her option came with so much eel and a side of veggies even! My salad garnish looked sad in comparison, especially since both our choices arrived with miso soup and a salad. Dinner was tasty though and plenty to fill my tummy, and the eel was pleasantly deboned. Food arrived slowly for our party, but the service was fine. *** 12⁄2012 visit *** Chicken Katsu Donburi $ 12.95 was more than enough for my dinner after having had several sweet treats as an appetizer. The pickled cucumber and carrot wasn’t to my taste, but there was plenty of tender chicken, egg, onions, and rice to satisfy me. Never mind the piece of Volcano roll I tasted after decapitating the drizzle of spicy red sauce reducing my volcano mountain to a mole hill. Also, it was nice of the waitress to allow me to swap out my free miso soup that comes with my donburi for a garden salad instead.
