My experience with Merrill was excellent. They finished on time and on budget. The quality of my renovation is superb. Everyone was extremely professional. The renovation consisted of gutting a galley kitchen and expanding it, adding a two story addition onto the side of the house and upgrading all systems.

The owner of this company came for an estimate. He was condescending and slow to follow up after visiting my home. Even if a company has plenty of business, I thought it was poor form to treat my home like small potatoes for a job (I was interested in at least 600sf of remodeling work). Three weeks after his first visit, he emailed with an estimate $ 15k above what we had discussed, and when I replied asking to negotiate, he chose never to respond.

Merrill completed a complete remodeling and addition to our cape cod from 1936. The craftsmanship, attention to details and desire to do things right well exceeded our expectations. There are so many horror stories about builders not delivering on promises, that my wife and I made our trust hard to win. Merrill did win our trust. It’s all in the details, and often those details are where others cut corners. A Unilocal review makes no justice to the appreciation we have for our new home, or the respect for Merrill’s workers. We even got compliments from the neighbors and the banks! Can you find cheaper builders –yes. Can they deliver with the same quality that Merrill offers –read the horror stories.
