I chose Main Event catering to cater a Thanksgiving event for my company and Tracy really came through! Every detail was perfect and the food was amazing. The best stuffing I have had in long time.
What a joy to have everything fall into place on this holiday and for once not to have to stress or lift a finger!
I will be coming back to them for my next event!

Main Event Caterers designed & implemented a lovely engagement party at a funky DC art gallery for my friends. As a first-​time coordinator, their talented designer, Courtney, made the entire experience so easy & pleasant for me.
The Main Event staff were all a delight to work with: a helpful, efficient & intuitive team.
The food was fresh & delicious, the drinks were beautifully prepared & served, the set-​up staff was quick & experienced.
Main Event took care of everything we needed & cleaned up the art gallery space perfectly & on time.

Main Events catered our 200 person wedding back in October and we are still hearing how much our guests enjoyed the food and the professional service. We initially reached out to Main Events about a year before our wedding, and they were very responsive, transparent, and easy to work with throughout the entire process. For example, not only was the food at the tasting superb, but Taylor Rose – the event designer we were lucky enough to work with – turned the table design we had discussed in theoretical terms into reality for the tasting. Something else that we really appreciated, particularly when it came down to selecting which caterer we would be contracting for our wedding, was Taylor Rose’s attention to detail and willingness to provide us with an itemized budget, which allowed us to prioritize where we spent our money. The other company that we were considering provided us with very vague estimates and refused to provide itemized budgets. In the days leading up to the wedding, Taylor Rose was also really helpful with finding us a lighting company that pulled together our very specific lighting idea (eddison bulbs over the dance floor). Every person we spoke with had great things to say about the food, which indicates to us that service was very consistent. Additionally, Main Events was very good about quickly turning over the space (ceremony area to dinner service, cocktail reception to dance floor) and working well with our other vendors. We cannot say enough positive things about Main Events or Taylor Rose!

We used Main Event Caterers for our wedding and couldn’t be happier. They were so professional and easy to work with, responding quickly and thoroughly to all of our questions. Michelle and Liz were great. The food was excellent and the room looked lovely. One of our main entrees was vegetarian and they made a beautiful and nutritious dish, something caterers often do not do well. They took care of everything, start to finish, and it was comforting to know we were in good hands and didn’t need to worry about the details on the day of the wedding. They even brought some hors d’oeuvres out to us after we took photos so we didn’t miss anything while we were taking pics during the cocktail hour. I’d definitely use them again.

Great job with a dinner for 45 at a private residence. Food was delicious, beautifully presented and in keeping with the theme. Elyse worked with us to stay within our budget goals. The event staff was pleasant, efficient and did a great job cleaning up. Will definitely use again.

Wedding Review: I had an amazing experience working with Daniela on my wedding, she worked with our budget while helping maintaining the look and feel we wanted with the event! She was flexible with us and was very personable to work with! Everyone is still raving about the food! And from a bride standpoint it was so nice to have a caterer who took care of everything – linens, flatware, glassware, etc. that’s invaluable to you when you are coordinating! Thank you MEC!

Absolutely love Spencer. He paid attention to every detail we asked for from the moment we talked to him. We got a lot of compliments on the setup as well. He was better than our day of wedding coordinator and made sure everything went smoothly.

Main Event catered my daughter’s wedding a couple of weeks ago and they did a fantastic job. Spencer was amazing throughout. His call to have the wedding outdoors when rain was a possibility was absolutely right. The weather was lovely! The food was delicious and I heard this from many of the guests.
Main Event offers a protein alternative (chicken or fish, for example) instead of a dual plate, and this is something my daughter and her fiancé much preferred. The bon-​bons were exquisite, and the catering staff a joy to work with.

Main Event catered our wedding a few weeks ago. Our tasting was wonderful — informative and delicious so we decided to go with them! They were very responsive to questions and worked with our budget. The day of the event was run beautifully — all the staff were extremely professional in behavior and appearance, and very friendly (especially to the bridal party). The drinks were delicious as was all of the food — we had two chefs in attendance and they both independently commented on how good the food was! Food presentation was phenomenal. My only complaints would be that one of the dishes we chose was not served as outlined in our contract (they refunded us a tiny amount for this), and that when we went to our tasting we worked with one person and were under the impression we would be working with him. All of my email communication was with him and then closer to the event I was working only with another girl who did a fine job and although they work together it just seemed a little odd. Overall very pleased.

First, let me say that Spencer at A Main Event Catering is fabulous. He put together a menu that incorporated my wedding theme to a tee and fit my budget. My party arrived 1 hour late for my scheduled tasting due to traffic, but Spencer was completely gracious and gave us a wonderful food experience. We talked and laughed so much that I think the kitchen staff had to prompt us to wrap things up! While we loved Spencer and his offerings, we ultimately chose another vendor based on an offer from a family friend. That said, I would absolutely recommend Spencer and his team at A Main Event. Do not pass this one over!

Main Event catered an awards ceremony my organization held, and they did a fantastic job! Not only was the food delicious, but they were such a pleasure to work with from start to finish.
Michelle was so responsive to the (many) questions I had, and helped me plan a menu that accommodated the many vegan and vegetarian guests at my event that was hearty and satisfying. My non-​profit received donated beverages from a third party, and Kathleen was flexible and organized in helping us staff our bars. She was also great when it came to her creativity with our floor plan, linens, and every other detail
On the day of the event, Andres and the rest of the staff set up smoothly and efficiently, were able to respond to the needs of our guests as the night progressed, and managed the whole clean-​up and pack-​out so wonderfully that we were able to leave the venue a full hour earlier than planned.
In sum, Main Event provided both exceptional food and an exceptional experience.

Main Event is more expensive than most catering companies but once the night was over I understood why. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable.

I recently suffered the sudden and unexpected loss of my husband. We had been thinking of a 35^th anniversary party next year at the Audubon Naturalist Society mansion in Chevy Chase., When this sad event came up, I decided to have the memorial service as an anniversary party also — a year early. Main Event catered the event and they could not have been more professional, friendly and helpful. The guests raved about the «light lunch/​brunch» menu — perfectly prepared and served. More guests than expected showed up and they handled that with aplomb. It was evident they knew the building and the layout. and everything looked perfect. The price they quoted me was excellent value for the work they did.
Thanks very much for all of them who toiled in 90 degree heat to make this such a nice function.

Main Event catered our wedding, and I can’t say enough great things about the food and service. After interviewing many caterers, they were by far the easiest to work with and had competitive prices. Specifically, Liz Cheung and Jennifer Sibel were incredibly helpful in all aspects of planning the event. We got a ton of compliments on the food and they were very accommodating for somewhat complicated dietary restrictions. Thank you!

I have been to several events either hosted by or cratered by this firm. They are impeccable when it comes to quality of
Food, service, and style. It is a company that really cares about the community and environment. You should check out their green initiatives. They never disappoint! I would recommend them to anyone for any occasion.

We had a follow-​up conversation with Main Event to discuss our problems at our request. They then wrote us an email to respond to our phone conversation, and I closed the loop with a final follow-​up email.
Here is their response to our missing chairs:
«Chairs: this was a mistake of not ordering on our end, quite frankly, this should have never been brought to your attention that the second set of chairs was never ordered. We should have just taken care of it without flagging anything to you all.»
Here was my response to that rationale:
«First, why would the preferred way to handle the chair situation be to not tell us about it? Is the hope that we may have never noticed the missing chairs? I think you handled it properly by telling us about the error, but the error never should have happened.»
Here is their response to our missing flatware that we agreed to pay an upgraded rate for a year in advance:
«Flatware: This is a mistake that I believe was not clearly communicated. The rental order was placed, as you mentioned, after your initial selection here. The problem is the rental company promised it to two companies and the other company had reserved the item first, they did not tell us that until April. Regardless, this reflects on us and no one else. Understandably, this is upsetting as financially speaking it was a good portion of the rental aspect.»
So, be very concerned about their relationships with their subcontractors and the (lack of) leverage that they have.
Here is their response to our missing «stalker»:
“Stalker: After speaking with the supervisor, this person was assigned to you all. HOWEVER, the person had to be pulled for a few reasons at various times throughout the night to assist with some small tasks and this was not communicated to you all. Because of the lack in clear communication, the service was not provided as promised.“
Here was my response to that:
«Second, you should know that it was never apparent that there was a stalker. We never met anyone that even remotely appeared to be serving in this role. No one was introduced to us in this role. There was no stalker, period. So, whoever you pulled away apparently was working on a few small things all night or decided to take the rest of the night off.»
They also claimed that they were training their recently promoted planner on her interpersonal communication skills.
This is a company that you are giving a significant amount of your wedding budget to. Think carefully about whether Main Event is the best way to spend your resources.

We worked with Main Event Caterers for the annual celebration event for our professional organization. They not only provided incredibly creative food that was unlike any of the other affairs I have attended in town, they were involved in the process of our event from the beginning.
They helped us to find a unique venue that really appealed to our members who have «been there and done that»… then they helped to coordinate our music, the flowers, everything. The staff they provided were friendly, efficient, and most importantly… they were subtle. I spent the evening with my friends… not working around staff to enjoy myself. The experience Main Event brought to bear made the burden of planning one of these events practically non-​existent.
Bottom line? In addition to doing amazing food (required for a caterer, don’t you think?) they brought so much more to the table to make our event absolutely outstanding. Can’t wait to use them for all of my events!
