Lisa Desrosiers, M. Ac, L. Ac has been practicing acupuncture for over 10 years. Her practice Davis Square Acupuncture has grown steadily, and after many years in Somerville, she moved to a great new building in East Arlington in Feb 2014. Lisa continues to enhance her skills through extensive continuing education and incorporates acupuncture, herb & supplement support, dietary & lifestyle recommendations, energy healing techniques and more into her treatments. She provides «effective, gentle & compassionate holistic health care for Metro Boston» by blending traditional acupuncture techniques with modern integrative holistic care.

Business Owner

Lisa Desrosiers is a licensed acupuncturist (L.Ac.) with a master’s degree in acupuncture (M.Ac.) She also holds a B.A. in Psychology. She is accredited with the National Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

Lisa has worked at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as a research acupuncturist and a research coordinator of alternative health care studies.

She currently devotes her professional time to pursuing excellent client care. She continues to expand her knowledge base with continued education in topics such advanced needling techniques, fertility and Assisted Reproductive Technology, muscular-​skeletal issues and energy medicine.

Her goal is to provide high-​quality acupuncture care to the MetroBoston community. She especially enjoys educating clients on self-​care so they can maintain their new levels of health on their own.

I first came to Lisa out of sheer desperation. Shortly after adopting a cat who I still have and love dearly, it became clearly apparent I was severely allergic to cats. My doctor said I could either live on allergy meds, try shots, or get rid of the cat. None of those options were acceptable. A friend mentioned she cured her cat allergy with acupuncture and I figured I had nothing to lose. Well — after about 3 months of treatment, starting with 2 – 3 times a week and gradually stepping down to 1 time a week, my allergies were gone, and have not returned. I became an acupuncture believer. I have since used it to help with muscle pain, seasonal allergies, and even treated a nasty lingering cold. I have to say that Lisa’s treatments have been more helpful than anything my MD has been able to offer over the years, to the point where I go to Lisa first. She’s a very kind, patient, and above all knowledgeable person. I would recommend her to anyone who needed help with a medical issue.

I have seen Lisa four times now. My initial visit was for acupuncture, though I was interested in Shamanistic healing. The acupuncture appointment was nothing short of amazing and I felt an immediate release of all the tension and emotions I was holding, followed by a state of deep relaxation that held me over until we could start the Shamanistic healing.
So far, I’ve had three Shamanistic healing sessions and all I can say is «Wow!» Lisa is a true healer. She is grounded and sympathetic, with an ability to tune into her clients intuitively, which helps to guide the session. I am grateful and happy, and I look forward to future sessions. Do not hesitate to seek out this gifted healer, whether for acupuncture or energy healing. She really knows her stuff. Thanks, Lisa!

So,
I’m a Skeptic. Just that kinda person. I generally don’t like medicine that I can’t trace back to anatomical reality (I get exasperated talking about Chi and other untestable, unmeasurable concepts).
So I obviously didn’t go to Acupuncture to get my chakrahs back into balance or anything like that. I have a pretty nasty back injury that gave me a fair amount of pain and tough ciatica (look it up). I’ve been doing PT, and I’ve been healing quite nicely (I’m not going ton a «Western Medicine is Useless!» rant today), but I’m not a very patient person.
I wanted to see if I could do some pain management beyond medication, for obvious reasons. I went to see Lisa because my mother’s friends (who are much more… spiritually oriented) have given me sufficient anecdotes that I decided I’d give it a try.
Anyway, disclaimer aside. I enjoyed the visit. Lisa is a grounded, rational person that actually talks about medicine and the body. There’s a little bit of «energy flow» stuff going on that I managed to not get frustrated about – in short, at the end of the conversation I was pretty convinced she knew what she was talking about.
Then with the needles.
Afterwards, I felt significant improvement. I have a lot more relaxation in my back and leg, the ciatica’s gone down. I’m walking around without a cane, which is a fair improvement. I’m quite pleased with the treatment.
Over the next few days, I’ll be updating as to my progress.
I’d recommend Lisa for an alternative approach to pain management stress, musculoskeletal or nervous problems, definitely. I will continue to hold out on the mystical cancer-​healing powers of heat lamps and small needles until I’ve seen better science on the topic.

Seeing Lisa for my complex health issues that had stumped many a western physician was such a great experience. In Lisa I finally found someone who genuinely listened, cared and who’s methods worked. She really takes time to get to know you and your ailments, and to help you understand how acupuncture can help. She is a true professional, who is very knowledgeable in many areas including dietary issues (which I found really helpful). Her demeanor is so calming, as is her workspace, I wholeheartedly recommend her.

Lisa is a gifted healer. She combines an understanding of western medicine with the practice of eastern medicine. She is compassionate and nurturing. From the second you walk into her room you feel relaxed and comfortable. I’ve been seeing Lisa for years for a variety of issues and have been amazed at the results. She takes time to listen to you and asks many questions to really understand what the root of the problem could be. I always look forward to my sessions. They are a time for relaxation and healing. I would recommend seeing Lisa for any acute problem but also for general well-​being. She is FABULOUS!

I have to agree with the other reviews here, Lisa is a true healer. I started seeing Lisa a month ago and the success of the work was beyond my expectations. Even though I went for relief from crippling shoulder pain, she focused on my whole life-​style and made me more aware of habits that were encouraging the problem. I’ve gotten far more pain relief than I expected to the point that I no longer need to take the ibuprophen I had been practically living on all winter.
I would strongly recommend her practice for someone who has never had acupuncture but thinks they might benefit. She explains what she is doing and encourages feedback from her patients.

Lisa was fantastic! She was so helpful and communicative. This was my first experience with acupuncture and she put me totally at ease. She has an impressive understanding of both Eastern and Western medicine (in fact, she explained many «Western» aspects of my diagnosis to me better than my PCP had!).
