Lexington Eye Associates

I had my eyes examined here in 2014 by Dr. Russo. I hadn’t been to an optometrist in a few years and needed a new contact prescription. I told Dr. Russo I wear my contacts longer than the recommended 2 weeks. Instead of handling this professionally and telling me the cons of wearing them for longer than recommended she called me «gross». Ironically after she insulted me she told me my eyes were healthy. Fast forward to this week. I needed to make an appointment. I called and spoke with an older receptionist who said the first available appointment for a routine eye exam was in 2 months!!! I said I needed to be seen within a few weeks and she laughed at me and said none of the locations would be able to accommodate me. I said I would need to go elsewhere and she hung up on me. I called Dr. Cottone in Watertown and got in THE NEXT DAY! Even better, he wasn’t insulting! Don’t bother with the poor customer service at Lexington Eye Associates — there are plenty other optometrists that will treat you like a human!

I was disappointed with Lexington Eye Associates, mostly because their customer service can use a lot of work.
I had to wait about 20 – 25 minutes for my appointment, and got no apology for the wait from Dr. Cronin (the eye doc I saw). She seemed nervous and distracted throughout our appointment, and called me by the wrong name.
I had my eyes dilated, a process I’ve only done once or twice before. This was by far the most uncomfortable dilation I’ve ever had. My eyes were in pain for a half-​day afterwards. I told the doc during the appointment how much it was hurting, and she nervously semi-​apologized. She did nothing to acknowledge my level of discomfort or to reassure me that my eyes would be feeling better soon.
I ordered a big supply of contact lenses, and got sticker shock a few weeks later when I picked them up and the receptionist told me the price. LEA doesn’t set these prices, but their docs should make an effort to tell people when they order how much it will be.
In the future I will always ask – it’s the patient’s responsibility as well. But again, good customer service would have been, «A year’s supply of those will be $ 800 – is that OK, or would you prefer a smaller order?»
Their receptionists always give whoever comes in the door a suspicious look like we’re invading their territory. And they spend huge amounts of time on the phone, without acknowledging waiting customers.
Yuck.

The receptionists/​office personal are time and time again the worst. Waited over an hour after my appointment time, with no apology or explanation.
I have requested by records and left the practice.

The eye care is fine, but by the time I see the doctor I am always fuming over having sat in the waiting room for well over an hour. Today it was an hour and a half. They blame it on waiting for your eyes to dilate, but that does not take and hour and a half. The real reason for so many people sitting around is to maximize profiit. If they cared at all about not wasting people’s time — which, by the way, is JUST AS VALUABLE as the doctor’s time — they would monitor wait times and schedule people to minimize it. But they don’t care about us – get ‘em in and let ‘em stew, we’ll see ‘em at our convenience. After years of this, I’ve had it and will look for someplace that treats people properly.

I went to the Arlington office. The Doctor was very good but the young lady who did the «vision test» was much to quick. I can tell my script is off. I too agree with someone else on here, there was this attitude of not wanting to be there. I’ve had really thorough vision testing for glasses before, this place was far from that. Again, the Doctors exam was fine but they need to instruct whoever does the vision testing to be accurate, take their time and be detailed. I’ve had better vision testing done in a mall with a franchise, honestly.

Worst eye doctor. Assistants didn’t even pay attention to you. Waited in the waiting room for an hour only to be called into a room to wait for another half hour. Wouldn’t even think if going back.

Great experience from beginning to end

Great experience. All staff was extremely nice and helpful, both on the phone and in person at the office. Dr. Matthew Lazzara was extremely professional and helpful in explaining to me what was going on with my vision. I’m so happy to have found Lexington Eye.

Really rude receptionists, and terrible customer service. I went recently for a severe pain in my eye (inflamed, etc.). I called to make a Medical appt and they gave me the choice of two appt times. I took the earlier appt. and made sure to arrive 20 minutes early, just in case I needed to fill out any paperwork.
I was taken back by the tech at my appointment time, she DIDN’T EVEN LOOK IN MY EYE, and clearly didn’t want to be there. She just asked some questions, and avoided eye contact me with me. She had me do the eye chart (Again, not there for glasses, was there for a medical visit for eye pain/​swelling/​discharge) then sent me back to the waiting room, where I waited for ALMOST AN HOUR. At this point, I saw patients going into the dr. who got there after me. I asked the receptionist about this, and said I was going to have to wait at least another 30minutes-​1 hour because they «Squeezed me in». (Again, I was given the choice of two appt times, how is that «squeezing me in»?)
At this point, I spent another 15 minutes discussing this with them, where I was subject to EYE ROLLS, and childish gossiping between the other two receptions there. I was then handed a refund for my appt. I never saw the DR.
Now i’m trying to transfer my records and have gotten nothing but terrible attitude. There are plenty of local eye dr. Don’t waste your time at ANY of Lexington Eye’s offices, unless you like being treated terribly.

Great customer service, the receptionists are very helpful. I moved across the country but still go to them! When I come home for the holidays and everyone is booked and going crazy, they still always accommodate for me. I know how annoying I am by waiting until the week before to book my appointment and I am so grateful that they stick with me and make sure I get my exams in.

I never write a review but when I saw that some individuals wrote negative comments I had to give my opinion! Lexington Eye specifically the Arlington location, has been a part of mine and my son’s life for 14 years. I was a first time Mom and brought my two year old son Jake, to see Dr. Boger. I was in a panic because my son’s eye was crossing. The ladies at the front desk were understanding, kind and helpful. Dr. Boger is my HERO! Through the years we have visited the Arlington office on a quarterly basis. The ladies each and every time have been nothing but helpful, kind and believe me I can be a lot to handle at times! The negative reviews I have read seem to be a one time occurrence. If a Unilocal reader wants to get a TRUE review of Lexington Eye in Arlington, take it from someone who has had interaction with the staff over the span of 14 years, not one phone call or visit.

I recently had my first appointment at Lexington Eye Associates and was really pleased with everything!
First off, they were super flexible with me when trying to get an appointment. The women in the front office were super accommodating to my schedule. I ended up even being a few minutes late because of traffic but was seen right away.
Dr. Russo did my contact lens exam and Dr. Lazzarra conducted my eye glass exam. They were both really nice, knowledgeable, professional, and quick. I was in and out of there in no time.
The office is located right on Mass Ave in Arlington. There is parking on the street and they have a parking lot. Lexington Eye Associates is a fantastic place. I have also heard great things about their Lasik treatments which is always a plus.

My pediatrician recommended LEA for my 8mo daughter, because we thought she might have some cross-​eye issues.
The receptionists were perfectly friendly, the person who gave my daughter dilating eye drops did a good job of listening to her symptoms and synthesized what her condition was from them (impressive). We waited in the waiting room for the eye drops to take effect. It was clean, brightly lit, and there were toys to play with — everything I needed. There were lots of other families (and lots of 1 and 2yos wearing glasses!) which was interesting for my daughter to watch, and made me feel like it was a family-​friendly place.
The ophthalmologist (whose name I’ve forgotten, but she’s white, middle-​aged, reddish brown hair maybe?) was really great. She was obviously really good with assessing babies eyes, and she had some tricks for helping the baby to hold still and let her look into her eyes.
She was very supportive, complimented my daughter on the developmental things she could tell were on track, and was able to articulate very well to me what she assessed.
I would definitely go back to them.

I went to Dr. Liao after leaving my previous ophthalmologist, who was a decent doctor but a terrible communicator. I was very pleased by the fact that they were able to fit me into the schedule in less than two weeks and the staff at Lexington Eye was very friendly and quickly helped me to get my visit authorized by my insurance. Not only did I receive a full examination with what appeared to be the best technology possible, but Dr. Liao also took the time to answer my questions that were not answered by my previous ophthalmologist. I never felt rushed or confused by treatment. I cannot recommend Dr. Liao highly enough.

Great place to have an eye exam, and they are excellent surgeons also! Just had cataract surgery, excellent experience!

I agree with BC — not only did they not keep the appointment I made at Emerson, but they lied about the reason, saying someone was in there before me, and that it was an emergency. Sorry, but I was the first person in at 8am, the mother and her 18 year old kid were no emergency, and I had made the appointment over a month in advance. Very difficult on the phone to get my records over to a more professionally run outfit. If I treated my customers like Lexington Eye Associates treated their patients, I’d be out of business. Avoid!

Awful experience. It takes months to get an appointment and then you wait for at least an hour in an overcrowded waiting room. Desk assistants are uncaring and apathetic.

Really rude receptionist. Called to make an appointment for myself and a friend (a returning patient) and she was very brusque and unhelpful. Said I couldn’t get an appointment (even during the work day) until 3 months later, and was rude when I asked if there was a list to be called in case someone cancelled. Ended up calling Parelli Eye Doctors in the Porter Square Galleria, got an appointment within the week, and had a great experience.
