Kenner’s Kolache Bakery

After being invited back by the owner, I decided to go back but not notify them, because after all, you’re on your best behavior when you know the teacher in coming back to the classroom. Food wasn’t burnt but still dry and flavorless and the staff was the greatest. Still not a fan.

I was excited to try this place because of all the awesome reviews I read online but I was quickly disappointed walking in. The lady was not very friendly, and they had ran out of what I wanted. I had never been to a donut shop like this, it wasn’t at all busy and they were out of certain items??? All they make is kolaches and they can’t even keep up on the different types??? The lady gave me my kolaches, I decided to give the regular ones a try and then she ran to the back. I tried to ask her for the microwave but I guess she was in a sound proof room in the back. Found the microwave in the corner and tried the kolaches. Worst ones I’ve ever had, bread was soggy and it just wasn’t good at all. I’m guessing you have to be there at 6am to get good kolaches because by 9am everything is bad. I have never had bad kolaches before so this was definitely my first experience and I won’t be back. I’d rather go to a donut shop with people who know what they’re doing and actually keep up with the products on their menu. Awful customer service and awful food.

Awesome czech bakery. I have never tried a kolache before this one, but I think I’m officially hooked. The savory ones are great (bacon/​cheese, sausage/​cheese) and the fruit ones are really decadent. Awesome all around.

I wouldnt say this is the BEST kolache Ive ever had, but it is indeed ONE of the best. West TX still holds the benchmark for comparison of course. But this place is definitely worthy of note. Ive been here several times, and it always satisfies, the kolaches have always been moist and soft and tasted wonderful. I would definitely say this place is worth a try.

Really fresh and tasty kolaches and rolls. I really recommend the Danish melt aways or the cinnamons with cream cheese icing.

I’ve eaten my fair share of Kolaches but for the most part they all kind of just blend in together. I don’t know if it’s all the banners and signs on the menu that really stresses the fact that they make everything from scratch each morning, with no preservatives and ²⁄₃ less sugar than donuts, but MAN! They really stood out from the other kolaches I’ve had. It started off with I wanted to try just one and get a cup of coffee to go, but after looking at the amazing selection, I decided to drop the coffee and instead buy 3 more delicious, pillowy, light and fluffy, perfectly sweet little nuggets of kolaches. Strawberry cream cheese– my favorite of the 4. Cherry– Fruity and not overly sweet. I would also recommend the rodeo sausage over the mesquite but both were buttery and light.

They are ok: I speak of the Kolaches, fruit flavored of course. I ordered a dozen mixed fruit (owner kindly selected them for me since I’ve never been here before), took them to the office to share.
So I have no idea if these are «authentic» or not, but I’ve had them from West TX and all around central Texas and these are, well, just ok. I picked these up at 6:30 am so they were fresh but just very average.
Maybe I should have tried the other pastries? Oh well, I don’t need to waste calories here.

Kenner’s «Best In Town» Cinnamon Roll is exactly that! Very good and light cinnamon roll, you have to try it warmed up! The kolaches are just as good. This is a great little place, the owner is very nice and takes pride in his business.

I got there this morning at 6:10. The lady behind the counter was super nice. I picked up about $ 35 worth for my co-​workers. Everyone was very happy with them. very tasty.

This place is GREAT! There is no need to drive an hour to West, TX for kolaches. The pastries are wonderful and the owner is very friendly. Try the «Melt-​a-​ways». They are my favorite. I’m in sales and when I bring kolaches instead of donuts, it makes a great impression. This is my go-​to place for breakfast meetings with clients.

I drive up Cooper to UTA on Saturdays for class, and Kenner’s is often a stop on the way… it’s a small treat that makes those early mornings much, much easier!
Food:
The kolaches are good, obviously, but I’ll usually want either one of the larger sausage rolls or a Danish Melt Away. The Danish Melt Away in particular is pretty special — it’s sweet, but with a great variety of textures and it basically melts in your mouth. Filling, but not overly so. I have had people admire my Melt Aways at UTA, and if I’m out of the door too late in the mornings Kenner’s is liable to have sold out.
Drinks:
There’s a small selection of drinks in a fridge, as well as coffee and tea. I’m a fan of stronger cups myself, and so I’ll often skip a drink in favor of a back-​up kolache.
Demerits:
While the food is all good, it isn’t necessarily an expansive selection. It’d be nice to have some seasonal or rotating items worked in to keep things fresh. Coffee, for me specifically, is another sore point — I’ll often follow up a stop at Kenner’s with a stop at Starbucks for a one-​two snack-​strong-​coffee punch.
But, yeah — I’m definitely a fan. The food, again, is miles ahead of other breakfast options.

I haven’t been to this location but a co-​worker of mine treated us all with some goodies. I usually pass on the kolaches or the sausage rolls that other people bring from the place down the street, I just don’t care for them. But today I seen they were from a different place and I was hesitant, but decided to give them a try.
And they were good, very good compared to other ones I’ve tried.
They were soft and a little buttery I thought with sausage and cheese, they tasted delicious!

It was mediocre, but maybe it is just me, because I come from a city with tons of excellent bakeries, so maybe I am just spoiled. Extremely bready and not a lot of filling, but they were only .90 so its worth the price, I guess. Probably wont come back though, not really what I was looking for.

Kenner’s is great. They’ve been the best kolache around for ages. They typically offer a good number of fruit kolaches — cherry, lemon, blueberry, etc. They also have a few sausage rolls, some with jalapeño. Those are addictive. It’s a quaint little spot — no real room to dine in, just grab what you want and go. Prices are incredibly fair. Delicious baked goods. These kolaches were as close to authentic as we’ve found outside of Prague.

Wonderful family-​owned kolaches who support their local community. A must stop for breakfast or afternoon treats.

I never had Czech stop in West, TX to compare this to but I’ve had authentic Kolaches in Poland and Czech Republic. First off, contrary to the complaints about the mean olé lady that was working here prior, they may have gotten a new lady. She looks like a college student with black hair and she was very kind and friendly to me. The owner came out to chat me up a bit about his store history (29yrs old) and he was sincere. On the wall was a portrait of Charles bridge/​prague castle off the Vltava river which i remember traveling to. Parking is a bit tight bit plenty of places available along the strip of stores here. Onto to the kolaches. They were fresh, dough was soft, crumbles are standard. As for fillings, cream cheese subtle but would go nice with coffee, strawberry tasted like standard jelly donut filling, apple was nice. Poppyseed kolaches were my addiction in europe so i was lookong forward to those most. I got the last poppy seed one, a bit stingy on the poppy seed amount… it wasnt as coarse a grind on the seed as it is traditionally and it was a tad sweeter than normal. That said, the owner will negotiate a deal with you if you order more. I showed him the buy 2 kolaches, get 2 free deal on their Unilocal for 1.97 incl tax which is worth it so I got that. Ask him about their 50% deal as well. With plenty of options to choose from, its definitely worth a try. Support local businesses!

The kolaches, cinnamon roll and danish were pretty dry and flavorless. Like I could literally taste the dry flour over the pastries.
I have never received such cold service in my life.
My experience took away from the taste.

The man who works here is so friendly though the woman is a little cold. I really enjoyed these kolache and cinnamon roll and will try to frequent here more on my way to work! Good coffee, great selection of flavors.

This is the perfect little family-​owned kolache shop. I called in an order for 3 dozen kolaches this morning and needed them in less than an hour. They delivered! The man who helped me (I’m assuming the owner) was so appreciative and friendly and the kolaches were fresh and delicious. Prices are good too. I debated on 4 stars because I like pan sausage crumbles vs the link ones, but that’s just my preference.

I don’t know what happened to this place. :(
Where’s the happy bubbly lady that I remembered buying kolaches from? The lady that helped me today was the definition of frumpy grumpy. She scowled at me when I wanted to buy more food after I had just paid. Usually people are happy to sell more food. :\ There wasn’t even a line. Just me and this other guy (he was ahead of me, too).
I bought some strawberry and cheese danishes, sausage kolaches and a pecan pull apart. They were ok. Not as great as I remembered.
The danishes were lacking in filling and the sausage kolaches were super cold– what’s up with that?
Maybe it was an off day but that lady’s attitude really made me not want to come back. Sorry Kenner’s, I really had a soft spot for you but Czech’s Stop got you beat even if it’s waaayyyy out in West, TX.
