Jones Networking

I’ve sent 3 emails to Jones Networking regarding my interest in some of their position’s posted as well as general help in the career search. I am from New York and am interested in relocating to DC so I am really reliant on recruiting companies to help ease the job search process. I have yet to receive any response to any of my inquiries. Maybe I’m wrong, but I feel like if you’re in the business of helping people find jobs, you use basic business decorum and respond to emails in a timely manner. Their website layout isn’t that great though, so that was kind of a red flag as to how they conduct business.

I interviewed with Jones Networking over a year after they found my resume on monster. They told me to arrive at least 20 minutes before my interview. I was provided with very detailed directions to their office as I lived in central Maryland and their office was located in North Virginia. I arrived 20 minutes and their receptionist proceeded to give a stack of paper to fill out. This paperwork included the typical tax information, a spelling quiz, and a pronoun quiz. I worked in this until the recruiter came in. The recruiter was really nice, however, I felt like she over talked me to several times and I did not get a chance to say anything until the interview. I felt like she wasn’t interested in interviewing, but to make her commission. I left the interview feeling a little weird as I have interviewed with other recruiters and never received this kind of treatment. The recruiter and I played phone tag for a week in a half before I eventually got a new job and informed my recruiter of the same.
I wouldn’t say don’t sign up with this company as I am a firm believe that each individual has a different experience with recruiting companies. It didn’t work out for me here, but I did have an amazing experience with AppleOne and Roberthalf legal in Baltimore.

Jones Networking is one of the most disappointing personnel /​staffing agencies I’ve dealt with. Don’t waste your time.
Although their staff was courteous and friendly (with a different new person answering the phone every two weeks), their efforts to help find me work– I’m a skilled marketing professional new to the DC region– were empty and meaningless.
Week after week I received a fresh email of their latest job postings. Yay! But… they were the same job listings each time.
Once early on, I read of a marketing/​communications professional position, spot-​on with my skills. So I applied, and heard the client was «very impressed,» and it seemed «very promising.» But two days later, after no response, I called Jones. They said that the client, «went with another candidate.» I was livid. Jones offered me little condolence or apology, other than the standard, «keep checking back on our website.»
The other reviews here on Unilocal resonate with the same disappointment and frustration.
A challenge to the management of Jones Networking: If your company is to be a respected player in the Staffing/​HR field, they need to:
— Get better management and a more ambitious strategy plan for clients and personnel
— Take a more involved, caring, proactive approach in helping their candidates find work.
— Improve their office layout, brand, and tarnished reputation.
— Hasten and modernize their application process.
— Broaden the geographic and vertical markets they serve. IT, marketing, and finance positions can lead to higher skilled candidates… and higher-​paying clients… and higher profits.
— Get more involved in community events and join the Chambers of Commerce.
— Treat their clients, staff, and personnel, like gold; they are the lifeline of the company.
Jones: Although your team couldn’t find a place for me at one of your clients (you can continue to search) I’d be happy to help you as a consultant.

Though I didn’t ultimately receive a job offer by working with Jones Networking, I found the staff that I dealt with were friendly, responsive, and extremely professional (Lauren & Rachael). They contacted me regarding a job that appeared to be a good fit for my background (most calls I receive from recruiters are for jobs I’m wildly under /​over qualified for). It was a direct-​hire position.
I received responses to my many inquiries within hours. I had a job interview within one week of speaking with them for the first time. There was excellent feedback from Jones Networking staff regarding the interview process. In the end, personal circumstances beyond my control brought my job search to a screeching halt, but I wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again. It was a very positive experience.

Like the reviewer below me, I had a terrible time with Jones Networking.
They told me to arrive 20 minutes before my scheduled interview time so I could fill out some paperwork. I did that, except there wasn’t anyone in the front. I waited for 40 minutes until I finally got so irritated that I ended up going to where the offices were to ask if someone could help me out. Some girl told me that «someone will be with you shortly.» Shortly, according to her was another 15 minutes.
The interview itself was extremely short. The interviewer asked about my desired pay, how much I was paid at my previous jobs, when I am available and that was about it. I took a short test regarding English grammar and Excel skills and there was a typing test to determine your typing speed.
I get the e-​mails every week, and it seems like the same jobs are posted week after week.
The office seems like it’s run by a bunch of snooty sorority girls (I didn’t see any male recruiters) who really don’t give a damn about if you get a job or not. It was a very unprofessional environment (how does a receptionist not man or I guess in this office «woman» the front desk for over an hour? It was way past lunch time, too. Perhaps they need to utilize their recruiting skills and find themselves a new receptionist.)

I now have a permanent full time job, no thanks to Jones Networking. The extent of their service was to send an email once a week with temp job listings; jobs not necessarily applicable to me. My emails to them were generally not answered and when I called in only the receptionist was available and she couldn’t give any information.
Don’t bother signing up with this company.
