Dr. Markova founded the Virginia Center for Orthodontics with one mission in mind: to provide the highest quality of orthodontic care for Northern Virginia and the DC metro area.

Our office incorporates the latest orthodontic technology while offering a comfortable setting for patients. Always environmentally conscious, we wanted our office to be 100% paper free to do our part in keeping the community beautiful.

Business Owner

Dr. Markova received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She completed her Orthodontic Residency at the Washington Hospital Center in DC and was Resident Team Leader at Children’s National Medical Center Cleft Lip and Palate Craniofacial Clinic. Prior to dental school, she obtained her B.S. in Kinesiology at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Markova is a clinical lecturer at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and a featured lecturer at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Markova has published research articles in various dental publications. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the DC Dental Society, and President of the DC branch of the Harvard Odontological Society.

Dr. Markova and her staff are just fantastic! They are friendly and very helpful. I needed to have urgent modifications to an orthodontic appliance (made by another orthodontist) and the staff made sure that I was seen within 24 hrs of calling. Dr. Markova made the necessary adjustments to my appliance and made sure that I didn’t leave until it fit comfortably. She was very knowledgable and totally saved my mouth! I finally had a pain-​free night’s sleep! I can’t recommend her enough!

Dr. Markova and her staff are amazing! Compassion and care at it’s finest. My kids love going there and I do too. Dr. Markova excels at her profession. The office has convenient hours and is very accommodating. They also have the best prices, therefore I had to pay less co-​payment for my child, and it was a great deal when I had to pay for mine cash since my insurance didn’t cover the braces for me. I love it!

Wow, I didn’t know dentist offices this awesome existed. Very bright and modern facility, starting with a nice waiting area and pleasant person at the front desk who actually smiles at you and welcomes you while knowing what she’s doing. The doctor came out to greet me and gave me a tour of the facility. We then went into her private office where we talked about my mouth piece. She then spent time with me checking my bite and mouth piece and how everything fit. She said that I didn’t need any adjustment or a new mouth piece. She was very nice and walked me back to the front desk. There was no charge for the consultation! Shannon at the desk was wonderful. The modern x-​ray machine gives out less radiation and the dental chairs are facing the window with a great view from the 8th floor.

We just had a consultation with Dr Markova for my 11 year old daughter. Everyone there was very friendly and they made my daughter feel much more positive about having braces. They talked directly to her and made sure all her questions were answered, as well as mine.

I can go on and on about my experience with Dr. Markova and her staff members. I had extensively researched a provider who is an expert with Invisalign for adults. I was lucky enough to find her. I have another 6 months before the completion of my treatment. I have noticed a major shift in my teeth and I am very happy with the results thus far.
Dr. Markova is a true professional with an authentic bedside manner. She is always in a great mood and is happy to answer any pressing issues/​concerns. She really takes her time during my appointment and I never feel rushed. In addition, her office makes calls between to make sure you are doing okay. In addition to the doctor, her office manager, Shannon is quite delightful. She is always cheerful and has excellent customer service.
If you are looking for a professional who is well versed in Invisalign and braces, Dr. Markova is your provider. She also has two patents for innovative orthodontic bracket designs. The office staff is very helpful and responsive. Furthermore, the office is brand new with state of the art equipment and is immaculate! I also am impressed with the work she does with the community through sponsoring various organizations.

Dr. Markova and her staff are amazing! I was worried that Rossyln would make it hard to park, but there were plenty of meters right in front of the office building. The office itself was so relaxed — the views are serene. My kids were very comfortable, and I loved not having to wait for our appointment. Her recommendations for treatment were in-​line with other orthodontists that we saw for consultations, but went with Dr. Markova because she is so warm and caring, and the overall office experience was superior. I am also impressed with her Harvard dental credentials, but it’s the way she is treating my kids that matters the most to me.

Dr. Markova came highly recommended to us by neighbors of ours and I took my two children, ages 9 and 11 in for a consultation. It was the best professional experience I’ve ever had with my kids. They were asked questions, listened to, and treated with respect. They were made very comfortable and truly enjoyed their experience. As an adult who never had braces as a child, I’ve also had my own teeth evaluated and am considering some approaches for correcting my bite. Dr. Markova made sure I understood all of the options, there was no pressure at all, and it was first class all the way around. We will be together for two years, and I couldn’t be happier with my choice, and my kids are excited.
