Dogma Gourmet Dog Bakery and Boutique

Our dogs loved the cake, I purchased calming dog chews for fifteen dollars that I later found out retails for 9 – 11.I’ll only shop here for their fresh baked doggy treats going forward.

Drove all the way to Arlington on a Monday afternoon and there was a sign on the door saying they are closed on Mondays starting August 3, 2015. This might be helpful information to have posted on your website!

So my little guy turned 5 today and I wanted to get him a doggy cake for a little birthday celebration. I did a Google search for «doggy cakes» and the search returned Dogma Bakery. My first thought: they have doggy bakeries?!? I was going out on a whim when I did the search! Whooda thunk!!! They have two locations. I called up this location on Sunday. Spoke to a woman by the name of Mia. Super sweet and so helpful! She told me it would take 3 days so that was perfect since his bday fell on a Wednesday. My little guy is about 11 pounds and I was worried the cake would be too big based on pics I saw on Unilocal.Mia did some research and inquired about a smaller version. She took my phone number and called me back. We agreed on a size, date and time and voila!!! It was PERFECT! I must say that they were really accommodating. Mia remembered that the bakery just began closing on Mondays but still honored having my cake in on Wednesday for my little guy. :-)
I picked up the cake as agreed (a little after noon today.) It was ready to go. The ladies were welcoming and really friendly! The boutique is so cute, clean and inviting! I did have a little trouble spotting the exact location because there is not a sign. But it’s exactly across from the Wendy’s and Mr. Tire. :-) I prepaid for the cake when I ordered so I was in and out. I looked around as they have great toys and treats. Needless to say the cake was a hit! I threw my first doggy birthday party! Lol! Paxton and his friends loved the cake! I was worried about having too much left, but there isn’t any left! My little guy enjoyed his special day and that’s all that matters!
This is a great place and I wish I were a bit closer because I’d definitely try the dog grooming. But, if you want a cake or treats for your four legged friends, please try Dogma Bakery! I for sure will visit again!

dogma is a great shop. the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and my dogs love both the raw food i buy here AND the dogma treats that i occasionally bring home. its a lovely little local spot that sells quality food, treats, and other stuff. i spend a lot on raw food for my dogs, so i also really appreciate their loyalty program and rewards. i always recommend dogma to other dog owners.
they moved out of the lee-​harrison shopping center some time ago and ive come across a few folks in the area who thought dogma had simply gone out of business. to date, there is still not a visible sign at their new location! even though i go to dogma once a week, it still takes me a second to locate it in the strip mall because there is no sign. in case you decide to check it out, it is just to the left of saran indian cuisine.

Dogma is the only place where I go to purchase food, treats and accessories for my dog. I was in there today, and the associate was talking to a customer about how the owner stopped carrying potentially dangerous treats from China long before the large chains did. Dog treats are made fresh daily. Support a local business and check them out!

It is worth seeking out the new location. Our dog lives for these home-​baked treats. He is a major Dogma fan and when we run out of Dogma treats he gets depressed. This is a great neighborhood establishment and Henry says the treats are way better than anything you can get at a pet store chain or grocery store.

Very sad to see that this location closed. My dog loved the baked treats and jerky variety. No idea what caused this place to close but it’s a shame.

Dogma moved to what is, in my opinion, a far inferior location along Lee Highway. They better get the word out and a much better sign or their business is going to wither and die. They clearly bake the dog treats on site. The rest of the shop is primarily dedicated to dog accessories and some pre-​packaged food products. I can’t imagine going here on a regular basis, except for maybe to get a gift for a dog lover. Still, it’s a local place and I wish them well.

I love this place and so do my 3 dogs. They love all the treats that i have to buy every time i walk in there. :) The toys are great and so are the leashes they have and all the little extra stuff you need for your pet, shampoo, doggy bags, toothbrush. My husband even got me a wonderful «Yorkie in a Bag» print from there.
The staff are always helpful and the place is always clean! I love it! :)

Dogma Bakery is a WONDERFUL place for dog lovers! The staff is very friendly and kind and they really do love dogs! I had the pleasure to speak with Sheila for a very long time all about my dog, Mr. Wendel. She was so supportive and caring. She puts a lot of time and love into the store and it really shows. The other staff members that I had an opportunity to speak with were all very pleasant and wanted to help me in any way that they could. The prices are very reasonable, the selection is great, and per Sheila they will be setting up their website for people to order on line which will be wonderful for all of my fellow dog lovers that are out of state! I have lived in California and all over Virginia and I have been so overwhelmingly impressed with this businesses’ dedication to the love of dogs. This is a cute little boutique with a nice selection of toys for dogs large to small. This is the first local place I found the «everlasting treat ball» (highly recommended if you have an enthusiastic chewer), and while PetSmart now carries the toys, Dogma still has a more reliable selection of treat caps to refill it. They carry the Orbee-​Tuff line of toys (also recommended for chewers), collars and leads in every imaginable color and pattern, a wide variety of pet-​related gifts including the «Life is Good» line of t-​shirts, and have a sale rack in the back where you can find some good deals.
As the name suggests, they do bake dog treats in-​store, but Marley’s favorite are the wheat-​free Apple & Honey Pawprints that they stock from a different dog bakery.

I really, really want to get a dog, however, my apartment doesn’t allow them. In the meantime, I’m spoiling my brother’s dog.
This is a small boutique-​ish dog shop with a good selection of edible treats and other dog grooming/​walking/​play items at reasonable prices. I bought a $ 5 mixed bag selection of fresh baked cookies and it was quite a large amount for $ 5. The treats looked cute (shaped like paw prints, fire hydrants and squirrels) and Fausto LOVES them. They’re fresh baked, so I was advised to have them kept in the fridge to preserve them up to three weeks. I’m pretty sure Fausto will have them polished off before then…
Overall, the quality and quantity seem very reasonable for the price. In case you’re new to the dog gift buying scene, the chain pet stores are just as expensive with not nearly as much selection of natural treats.

While they have some fun and interesting stuff, I no longer shop here. I found the staff pretty rude, I don’t think the people I encountered were the owners. I’ve been in here 5 or 6 times and just can’t bring myself to go back. Maybe it has to do with my ethnicity (jewish/​black) but I felt ignored and unwelcome every visit I’ve been. I was well dressed, but I guess they felt they didn’t want me there, I wasn’t followed step by step, but I was certainly treated badly. My pup loves the bakery items, but I won’t be going back.

Great selection of fun gifts or treats (both edible and wearable) for your dog and for yourself. I love their t-​shirt selection — hard to buy just one! Bonus — they have a message/​advertising board in the back of the store for leads on dog walking, dog care, dog fostering, etc.

Dogma has been around for almost seven years; way before having a «dog bakery» became faddish and trendy around here. Additionally, Mary and Michael Hogan have kept Dogma thriving while many others have come and gone. They’re also two of the nicest, genuinely dog-​loving people you could meet and they do a lot of work with local rescue groups, especially

On top of their all natural treats, Dogma sells all sorts of unique dog and CAT toys, products, literature, etc. and they do almost weekly adoptions. Stop in when you’re in North Arlington!
