Camden Potomac Yard

i was a resident of the complex for a year, and it was amazing. Everything is always very neat and clean. The staff is very nice. The prices were very good considering all the amenities and the fact that everything you need is so close by

Wonderful community. Great location. Apartments are spacious. Somewhat pricey– (sewer & trash)… Parking is not too great. L.A. Fitness Gym is next door. Each resident should have one FREE parking space The property managers/​leasing agents are THE BEST that I’ve ever encountered (Kenny, Vanessa, & Arie), The concierge — Jovone is EXCEPTIONAL! He provides excellent customer service ALWAYS! REAL TALK! Super close to Crystal City Metro. Metroway (METRO) bus is right outside your front door. If you are considering moving in Camden @ Potomac Yard, you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve been a resident of this complex for almost two years now. I absolutely love the building, my unit, and the staff.
It wasn’t until I began looking at other apartments, however, that I truly appreciated the Camden. My girlfriend and I began looking for apartments after the end of our second term to be closer to the Metro. While we live in a beautiful building, it’s NOT super convenient to the Crystal City Metro.
We looked at three properties all within a 10 minute walk to the Metro and found them to either be in pretty bad shape, less than stellar leasing staff, and/​or much more expensive. The apartments that we’re within our price range did not include laundry in the units which was a deal breaker for us.
Therefore, we came back to Camden Potomac Yard and found ourselves a one bedroom for around $ 1,600 — fairly new, all with the same features we have in our current apartment. We also didn’t realize this (shame on us) that there is a subsidy for residents of the Camden to use the bus to the Metro as long as you have a smart trip card. What an ingenious idea! When you compare the 10 minute walk to the metro or a 7 minute (subsidized) bus ride to the Metro right from your doorstep, it’s a no-​brainer!
We’re very happy with the decision!

We’ve moved from DC to Crystal City and it’s been the best move for us. The Camden at Potomac Yard is a really nice building. It’s been 6 months and I absolutely love it here. The staff is very nice, attentive, plans events for residents and cares about the neighborhood.
The apartments themselves are in great conditions. Everything was repainted, fixed before we moved in. The parking garage is great and has plenty of space. The noise level is low, only when the train passes by it’s a bit loud but that happens maybe few times when we’re home. The windows are very sound-​proof.
What we love is the view to the airport, Potomac and DC monuments. We walk to great restaurants and a huge plaza with Target, Best Buy and IHOP. There’s more than 4 lines of buses going around, plenty of taxies, Capital Bike Share and sidewalks.
The people living in the building are also nice, it seems like there’s a lot of professionals and courteous people.
This is much better than DC residential buildings. The rent here is much lower, parking fee is half of what it is in DC, water and gas are also cheaper. Very happy to be here!

I stayed here for a couple of years while I was staying in the DC area for work, due to its relatively convenient location. When we moved in, the apartments were brand new, empty, management was decent and overall experience was not bad. Here are some details, which I hope may help.
Overall Facility: The building quality is decent and mostly clean. This place does have A LOT of pets, so you may hear barking dogs and end up in an elevator with pets all the time — if you are a pet lover, it shouldn’t be a problem. Security in this place is a joke, 80% of the times the doors are just not locked, and when they are locked, your fob won’t simply work and you can’t get in without going to the main office! Not fun when its 2am and its snowing outside! So if you are looking for higher security and ease of access, avoid this place.
Management: An absolute mess in the last couple of years. They change managers all the time and there is no sense of accountability. If you are staying in «Camden» and paying as much as this place costs, you deserve better — that’s all. They are very unprofessional and incapable when it comes to being ethical and organized. They will charge you wherever they can. If their automated rent system is broken one day — your fault. They lose your signed papers and find that as a reason to charge you. When I moved out, we spent an entire day cleaning the place and left the apartment in spotless condition, they STILL charged us! What is worse is they took it out directly from my account balance — so they left no option. When I tried to dispute this matter, they were simply being unfair and unethical — they misplaced the paper that I signed and provided them, which stated that we were going to clean the apartment on our own, so they found that as a reason to charge us the moving out cleaning expenses, even though the apartment was clean! Their reasoning during this entire discussion was illogical and unprofessional — kept changing stories and found different excuses to keep the charges.
Maintenance: The service order system they have online is easy and convenient — only if you use it online. If you submit a request online, usually they will complete the request the same week. If you call the front office, forget it, they will lose your request and it will never get done. I stayed for a couple of years, not once the management provided yearly maintenance on their own.
Renewing Leases: Needless to say, they don’t value their longer term customers. They will quote you bizarre rates for the lease renewal and you have to go through the effort of negotiating to bring the rate down to a reasonable amount. Since I was just there for a couple of years for work, I didn’t think it was worth it to get a different apartment and move all my belongings. But, if you do end up renewing your lease, definitely negotiate — they will come to an agreement, if you are being reasonable.
Location: Convenient. Harris Teeter right next door. Airport — 5 minutes cab ride! — very useful if you travel for work as much as I did! Target, etc nearby. Pentagon City mall is also 1 stop away and 10 minutes car ride. The city is about 3 stops and a 15 minute car ride. The only thing bad about this location is — It is a long walk to the metro station, about 25 minutes. You definitely can’t do it on a daily basis, if you plan to commute by the metro. There is a bus that comes right across from the Harris Teeter — but it stops at 730pm. So if you work late hours, this is useless.
Hope this was helpful! Avoid this place if you can and if you are willing to pay a bit more. Check out Meridian properties in Rossyln or Pentagon City — much better location and have heard good things about their management.
