And then, if you wanted to, you could purchase materials to continue your creative adventures at home?

This was our vision more than a decade ago, and today that vision is stronger than ever. We now have two physical locations, serving families and friends in the communities that surround the towns of Arlington and Franklin, Massachusetts; and an online store, ART​BEAT​gifts​.com that serves you nationwide. We are family-​run and staffed by creative souls who share our vision.

This is a perfect little shop to find a unique gift for that creative child or adult. ARTBEAT carries cool greeting cards, origami, Arts and crafts kits and supplies, but their greatest feature is the walk in art studio in the back! Kids of all ages can explore different projects. My own kids ages 14, 12 and 8 enjoy ARTBEAT more than painting pottery or other similar activities so nice there are more unique things to do here.

I really like the concept behind ArtBeat: similar to a Plaster Funtime, but you get to choose different mediums and it has art supplies for sale. It is tiny, however, which is not helpful if you’re coming in there with, say, more than one child. The website boasts how great it is for the whole family, but really you can’t fit more than two or three small groups in there at a time, and even that would feel super crowded. If you’re stopping in with more than one child, if your child (ten) are inpatient, or you’re in a time crunch, definitely call ahead.
In addition, the pricing is a a little confusing. You pick things from the store to paint, create, etc, but the costs are not transparent. Again, this would be less complicated with one or two children not on a strict budget, otherwise it gets confusing.
That said, the staff (I think the owner) Jan, was very accommodating and patient with the children. There was a birthday party when we were there and they still made room for us (group of 4 kids).
I would definitely go back, but will call ahead.

Had a great time with my kids painting and doing sand art. We usually go to plaster fun time which is great but it’s only painting this place has a bunch of different arts and crafts to do. The sand art was so fun my friends 3 year old could easily do it with a little help. Next time I want to try the mosaics. The owner is very nice and helpful. We will definitely be back.

Ug. My life has gotten so much better since I stopped checking in here to see if they have what I need. They don’t. They have lots of overly elaborate kits for vaguely artsy projects I’m not that interested in — today’s equivalent of those woven nylon potholders, or what have you.
And I can’t say that the staff is particularly helpful when faced with my queries.
I’m usually looking for basic supplies, materials and tools, but this is not their specialty. I’d consider buying my father-​in-​law one of their origami kits, but I’m pretty sure I could find it at Play Time for much less.

We love this spot for art projects – their staff is wonderful. It’s a friendly, neat and fun place to go if you are looking to have some fun with your youngster. We had our daughter’s 5th birthday party and it went flawlessly. There is a lot of choice about things to do, from painting to sand art to candle making. it’s a great local business in the community to support.

I finally stopped in here today. It’s a terrific little arts and crafts shop, mainly intended for children’s projects and they hold parties or crafting events here too. It seems a bit small for that, but they are well stocked on supplies. I do crafting projects (i’m an adult) and i was able to find a few things here for an upcoming project. The woman who worked here was friendly and helpful, I just wish she’d let me buy the sample piece of felt art I liked. they had lots of kits for projects such as beading, friendship bracelets and wool/​felt crafts.

It is a great place to drop in and do crafts. Don’t recommend it for a birthday party unless there are no more than 5 – 6 kids, as the place is very small. I had 12 children who were aged 7 at my child’s party and it was way too many. It could have been more organized and structured. I also felt that for the money I paid, the worker’s should have been doing WAY more to help out. There were two worker’s helping and one of the woman barely helped out. I ended up doing the majority of work by helping the children do the craft. When it was time to have the cake, there was pretty much zero help. I put everything out and they just stood there. I felt VERY stressed by the end of the party. They should have had another person helping out.

This is a cute little store and a GREAT place to go for kid’s party’s or for short art classes & workshops for kids, teens or adults. Sure, it is a smaller space with not a gigantic selection but it is a good destination to find something creative or be inspired for a project with your friends or children. This is the only place I could find that sells Lyra AquaColors!
