Allure Hair Studio

I got an awesome haircut from Christina today. I know her from when the salon belonged to the previous owners. She remembered me and how I like to wear my hair and gave me exactly the cut I was looking for! I couldn’t be happier! Although I usually go to another salon because of the distance it’s difficult for me to get there as often as I would like to. I’m so glad I have this salon and Christina as an alternative to come to. They are close to where I live and do a wonderful job!

Okay, right away let me say that Allure is a great simple neighborhood salon, very much what you’d expect from a local salon. All except ONE element. In the sea of perfunctory safe and nice, is one maverick– Carolyn Kouyoumjian! Carolyn can do it all, but her specialties are super cool cuts and REDHEADS.
Now, I am admittedly allergic to normal and I am a redhead, but I have to highlight Carolyn’s exceptional cutting skills, her coloring magic, and her kindness, her overall attitude could be described as «twinkly». She is also not here to sell you a bridge in Brooklyn, if you come in there and want something unattainable whether in the immediate or the permanent she WILL tell you the truth. Hair too fine to wear it down to your navel? She’ll tell you. Hair one shade, you want another? She will explain that your ambitions are either too lofty and/​or «will require multiple steps» (like mine did after multiple colorists basically dotted my head with a gazillion shades of red, many leaning blue).
What however she has a FIRM grasp on, once you discuss what you’d like is how to cut all the «bomb ass cool rock and roll haircuts». She knows the modern variations on these classics but she can cut «the REAL THING.» Want a super Keith Richards cum Patti Smith shag? No problem. Want a Mohawk, Mandinka? No problem. Want to walk out with feathered layers dyed blue and pink like Dale Bozzio? DONE! The lady, is a rock and roll anomaly, ensconced in a nice basic salon.
So while the salon is cool, it’s really Carolyn who gets 5 stars. SHE ROCKS!

Great place. Ask for Joanne. I don’t easily give 5 stars. Let’s see after my next (second) hair-​cut! This one has lasted 6 weeks, and I have my hair cut super-​short, which is always harder than long hair. Joanne is superb.

My children and I have been coming here for years. They are professional, approachable and friendly. I recommend Jen and her team highly.

I made an appointment over the phone with Alan who made an exception and got me an immediate appointment with Joanne to wash and blow dry my hair. I had broken my shoulder and was unable to wash my hair for a few days, so I opted for the salon across the street. From the moment that I walked in, I was greeted by Alan and a sweetheart of a young lady named Patricia. The whole experience was wonderful. Loved the obvious dedication to make the client feel like family, and leave feeling refreshed and beautiful. Thanks to all of the staff that day, I would highly recommend this salon. Experienced, kind, professional. Would TOTALLY go back!!!

Every time I come here, I end up looking like a goddess, thanks to Tricia’s magic. I’m so glad that I took the chance on my neighborhood hair salon, because now she’s spoiled me so much I won’t be able to go anywhere else for my coiffure needs!
I went in for an ombré treatment and Tricia, delivered. She put gradated shades of brown and blonde that were bespoke to me and my skin tone. She also incorporated bits of balayage highlighting throughout, which looks amazing and really brightens up my face. The colors are soft and warm, and I received many compliments on my hair! I was thrilled with the results.
I also just came back from a bang trim, and Tricia once again knocked it out of the park. It’s incredible what a huge difference a small trim can make, but she did it! I always leave happy after sitting in her chair — I’m sure you will, too!

So I’m picky when it comes to hair dressers and was always looking for new salons to go too until I finally found this spot. Kasey is a high school friend of mine and told me to spot by, so I said, sure why not. The first time I came with my cousin Kathy. We had such a pleasant experience. Kasey is such warm-​hearted and fun to work with. Kathy got an ombré which came out perfect. Unfortunately for my hair, it’s more difficult to dye so when we tried putting color in it, my hair didn’t even take. So I had to come back a second time. Second time, Kasey nailed it. I was looking for a honey brown color under my hair and she did just that. I’ve come back many times since then and we have recently been lightening my hair and I absolutely love it. Kasey is the only hair dresser that I feel comfortable talking too and telling her exactly what I want. I’m also the type of person that is down for anything so I let her play with my hair and put my full trust in her. She also knows that I’m trying to grow my hair so when I say take half an inch off, that’s exactly what she does. Where at other hair salons, they decide to do whatever they want and I end up hating the length. As long as Kasey’s at Allure Hair Studio, I’ll be coming back :)

I went to Allure Hair Studio last week for the first time and I was completely blown away (no pun intended) by Eleanor’s level of skill and service.
I got a cut, color, partial and blow out. I asked for a darker brown overall base and light-​ish brown highlights. The dark brown is exactly what I wanted and the highlights look very natural. I would definitely see Eleanor again for the color/​highlights alone but the cut is what I was even more impressed with.
It looked fantastic blown out (my naturally curly hair is very fine but Eleanor’s blow drying technique made it have volume and bounce!), and I am ecstatic with how it looks curly! I just asked for it to be «cleaned up» but she gave it a slightly different shape which makes such a difference! No more awkward triangle head for me. :)
Oh and she is an excellent conversationalist.
New favorite stylist, hands down!
