History

Established in 1939.

After Hours Tuxedo was started by Max Mager and his wife Gussie. Max moved to Washington from the sweat shops of New York. He set up Square Deal Tailors in 1939. The business was located at 2715 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, Va which is the current location of the business. Max and his wife lived above the store. Today there are two apartments upstairs. In 1952 his son Jerry introduced tuxedos to the business. After Hours Tuxedo became Arlingtons first formalwear store. The store continued on thru the years increasing to three locations at one time. Jerry passed away in 1994 and I and my wife Patti [Jerrys daughter} purchased the store. It continues on today.

Since After Hours is a family owned business I came into buying the business thru the death of my father in law. I am now in my sixteen year as owner. My backround includes a BS in Journalism from the University of Maryland and twenty plus years in sales. I have been dealing with customers for almost forty years. I do most of the prep work on the tuxedos. By dealing with many different companies I have the flexibility to satisfy my customers, which is the key to any small business.
