S & J Auto Body Ltd

After a hit and run with my (new to me) car vs a CTA bus, my bumper and fender were pretty badly scraped and dented. I am so happy I found S & J. Jimmy is such a friendly guy who goes above and beyond for the customer. He took the time to look at my car and give me an estimate while chatting. 2 days later, my car was back to it’s original state. Also, with a metallic finish, I was worried about blending the color to get the exact match. It looks spectacular. I highly recommend this facility to anyone needing body work. Thanks, Jimmy!

Even though I am very angry at the moment, I am going to try to write a fair review. I had auto body work done on my car at S&J in late 2010. When they first quoted the work that needed to be done, it was less expensive than what the insurance agent said needed to be done. I went with S&J thinking I could save myself some money. Unbeknown to me they decided to complete the repair according to the agent’s write up and change their price. I was annoyed that they didn’t tell me that before starting the repair because if I had known they would be the same price as a dealership, I would have just gone to the dealership. I discussed this with them and they reduced their pricing a little bit, but not much.
When I picked up my car it looked great, they told me that I had a lifetime warranty on the work they did. Great news I thought.
Here we are a little over a year later and I had to bring my car back because a belt molding they installed never stayed down. Apparently it is my fault for not getting it repaired right away, but I thought I had a lifetime warranty. So, now they want to charge me half of the price for the price and the install because I should have brought it back right away to get it fixed if I wanted it covered under the warranty. Little did I know that lifetime meant within a year.
I don’t live in that area anymore, so it is too frustrating to drive out of my way to get it repaired there and have to pay for it.
They are not very clear in their communication, so if you go there make sure you ask a lot of questions and get things in writing… funny, the warranty was in writing, but that doesn’t seem to matter.
