Established in 2009.

The business was started in 2009 by two college students, looking to pay tuition, in Aurora Illinois. It slowly evolved into six Cash for Gold Stores and one Pawn Shop spread throughout Chicagoland.

Pawn in Private was opened in 2012 in Arlington Heights. Unlike traditional pawn shops, our store is clean & modern and the staff is friendly & professional. It feels and looks more like a retail jewelry store, rather than a pawn shop. Check us out and experience the difference!

I have been in the jewelry buying industry since I was a nerdy freshman in college. I have always been fascinated with the beauty and glamor that exquisite jewelry can add to a person’s appearance. I graduated with a double major in Finance and Economics from Elmhurst College in Illinois. In my free time I enjoy playing ping pong and studying the wonders of the Universe… oh, and of course, watching «Pawn Stars».

Not to fond of this pawn shop. I went in to try and pawn a flat screen tv and some diamond earrings and necklace. I was turned away. They said there not taking tvs and I would hardly get anything for my jewelry. I don’t recommend this place at all!

I live in New York but visited Chicago last week. An unexpected situation happened and i needed immediate access to cash. After researching pawn shops in the North-​West suburbs of Chicago I came across Pawn in Private which had great reviews. Luckily I wasn’t disappointed and these guys met all my expectations. From the moment i walked in I was greeted politely by the staff who made me feel very comfortable. I ended up selling my watch for more than i realistically hoped for and spent the excess funds on a very nice pair of Tiiffany earrings (they have a wide selection of jewelry).

These guys they know what they are doing, they are always friendly and very helpful. This is not like every other pawn store, they don’t push you to sell whatever you brought in. The service is fast and they pay you on the spot. Definitely a return customer.

This place is great. The store is neatly organized and has a welcoming feel to it. But, the best part about this place is its people. They are very friendly and accommodating. A person can tell that they genuinely care about their customers needs as they come to your attention once you walk in the store. Also, I bought some things in here before and they were reasonably priced.

I’m going to cut straight to the point. Hands down the classiest pawn shop I’ve been to. I’ve been to the shady, the over priced, the scamming, and those that lacked customer service. These guys have their ducks in a row! Personable, polite, and most importantly not misleading.
Been here a few times and when I dont know something, they break it down for me. Explain the cost of the item and the market trends, something that definitely puts everything in perspective. If your looking to get a bang for your buck or trying to get some cash, this is your place. Highly recommended and worth the drive!

The gentlemen here are always extremely helpful and welcoming. I’ve been into other pawn shops in the past that were dimly lit and I felt as if eyes were always on me. But at Pawn in Private, they not only offer more money when selling items and low interest rates on loans but they also make you feel completely welcome and assist in any way possible. I’ve come here several times and know that I’ll keep coming back!

I sold them an old broken gold chain, I was pleasantly surprised at how much they gave me for it. Quite a bit more than what the gold store offered me, they even gave me a cold diet coke while they did the paperwork really great customer service and I didn’t feel like I was being taken advantage of
