EAD|CFAH is absolutely the best CrossFit gym in the Northwest suburbs and by far one of the best in the country. Since starting last August, I have exceeded so many of my own expectations for my performance and have been pushed and motivated by some of the best coaches ever.
The coaches at EAD are all extremely experienced and qualified to do what they do. Unlike some boxes with uninvolved coaches whose only qualification is the CrossFit Level 1 certificate, which is a thorough seminar all CrossFit coaches must attend and pass a test for, the coaches at EAD continue to expand their experience levels, qualifications, and certifications. Please visit the website and find the coaches page and see the section under each coach that reads «Alphabet Soup», which will show the many qualifications the coaches have.
EAD is also amazing because of their programming. All workouts are programmed in a very thought-​out way that results in challenging WODs and trackable progress. Also, EAD continues to pursue the best in programming techniques. I have seen several changes in my experience at EAD that have resulted in better WODs, such as the adding of a strength component before the MetCon and a mobility portion after the workout, as well as providing scaling levels for each WOD that give an Rx, or prescribed, standard to do the workout as written and intended, a scaled option for athletes still developing strength and technique, and an Rx+ option for more elite and experienced athletes looking for even more of a challenge.
Both the athletes and the coaches at EAD help make the training environment challenging while maintaining confidence in everyone. If you are looking for a CrossFit gym in the area, please give extra consideration to Elite Athletic Development|CrossFit Arlington Heights!

EAD/​CrossFit Arlington Heights was my first foray into CrossFit. As I write this review, I’ve since moved away and have begun a heavy travel rotation with work. I’ve been to five (and counting) boxes since EAD, and this one is the best by a long shot.
The programming is peerless. You can’t go anywhere else and find such a diverse array — WODs, power lifting, rowing, boot camps. Additionally, their programming is well thought out. You can go every day of the week, and you won’t get bored or burn out a muscle group.
The coaches are fantastic and take a real interest in your personal goals. They all preach technique. Several of the coaches compete in events. It makes a real difference to have that kind of knowledge available to you. It’s like learning how to cook from a master chef. They’re also constantly learning and staying at the forefront of programming techniques and nutrition. Rather than being stuck in a certain training mentality, they evolve with the sport and the science.
I’ve recommended this box to everyone I know who lives in the area, and I’ve even gotten a couple of my friends to join. It’s been said that the strongest recommendation of a service is a referral. I’m more than happy to refer EAD over and over again.

This is a great Crossfit gym for new and seasoned athletes. I started going about a year ago, I was very nervous because I knew I was not in «Crossfit shape». The coaches do an amazing job working with you at your own level. The sense of team here is very encouraging. I would recommend to anyone who wants to challenge themselves and who is bored at a regular gym.

Elite Athletic Development (EAD), also known as CrossFit Arlington Heights has AWESOME COACHES.
They correct form, commit their attention to the class, push you for more, and help you scale-​down when needed.
Anyone can buy the equipment, anyone can get certified, but not everyone has what it takes to be a coach. These guys and gals are great coaches.
During my visit to another «box», the awesome quality of coaching from EAD became apparent to me:
1) I was the only one using a proper rack position for the barbell
2) I was out rowing guys taller than me (I could tell they were glancing at my ergo, thinking «wtf»)
3) The coach of this «other box», was not correcting the form of anyone in the class; hence his taller guys getting out-ergo’ed by me, and his people toasting their forearms instead of properly racking.
Great coaches, are what make the difference.
Great coaches don’t make a difference by saying, «Go one more!» or «You can do it!»
Those words are inspirational for a moment, then are gone.
Great coaches watch you, analyze, and know EXACTLY what to say, to make you make your body do what it needs to do. Then, whenever you do that movement, that phrase always repeats in your head, and your body follows-​through… then they say «Now do another!»

I have been to EAD for about a year. After many years of running and triathlons and a broken collar bone, I needed a change. Crossfit was it. I am stronger now than when I trained for Ironman. Coaches are always friendly, evven at 5am. There is a strong sense of community which makes you want to go to work out. Most athletes I have meet there encourage you.
